America Car Rental Introduce
Hello, fellow Floridians! When planning a trip within our beautiful state, whether it's a family vacation to a theme park, a weekend getaway to the beach, or simply needing a temporary vehicle while yours is in the shop, securing reliable transportation is often a top priority. In a bustling hub like Miami, where options abound, choosing the right car rental company can significantly impact your overall experience. Many of us are drawn to what appears to be the most affordable options, especially when booking online, hoping to save a few dollars.
Today, we're taking a detailed look at America Car Rental, located in Miami. This company, like many off-airport rental providers, often advertises highly competitive prices on its website, aiming to attract customers seeking value. However, real-world experiences can sometimes differ significantly from initial expectations. While the allure of "savings" is strong, it's crucial for locals to understand the full picture, including potential challenges with undisclosed fees, communication, and specific insurance requirements. This article will provide a factual overview of America Car Rental based on publicly available information and customer feedback, helping you make a more informed decision for your next Florida journey.
America Car Rental is strategically located at 2301 NW 33rd Ave, Miami, FL 33142, USA. This places them in close proximity to Miami International Airport (MIA), a major gateway for both tourists and returning Floridians. As an off-airport rental company, their location means they are not directly within the MIA Rental Car Center.
To bridge the gap between the airport and their office, America Car Rental offers a shuttle service. Upon arrival at MIA, customers are generally instructed to contact the company for shuttle pick-up. Specifically, customers should proceed to Level 1 (Ground Transportation). If located at Terminal A, you'd walk to bus stops A11-A13; Terminal B to B11-B13; and Terminal C to C277. You would then call their office for the shuttle. However, customer reviews indicate that getting in touch with them for the shuttle can be "nearly impossible," with long waits and "no contact from the company" being reported. This can lead to "stressful" situations, especially after a long flight. For locals, while the physical address itself is accessible via Miami's road network, the reported communication difficulties for the shuttle service are a significant point of consideration. Their operating hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, providing a window for pick-ups and drop-offs.
America Car Rental aims to provide a range of car rental services for various customer needs. Based on available information and typical offerings of similar companies, their services generally include:
- Diverse Vehicle Fleet: They offer a range of car types, which generally include economy, compact, SUV, mini, and other car models. This allows customers to choose a vehicle that suits their travel requirements and budget. Some specific models mentioned in reviews include Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, and Jeep Compass.
- Airport Shuttle Service: A complimentary shuttle service is provided for pick-up and drop-off to Miami International Airport, connecting their off-site location to the airport terminals.
- Competitive Initial Pricing (Online): Their website often displays prices that appear "significantly lower than airport rentals," aiming to attract customers seeking cost savings.
- Flexible Rental Durations: Rentals can typically be arranged for various durations, from daily to weekly, and potentially longer terms, to accommodate different travel plans.
- Insurance Requirements: This is a critical aspect. America Car Rental often requires renters to have an "extremely high liability insurance limit ($500,000)" even if they have their own personal car insurance. If a customer's personal policy does not meet this specific, high threshold, they may be required to purchase additional, mandatory insurance from America Car Rental, significantly increasing the final cost.
- Deposit Policy: Deposits can vary, typically ranging from $300 to $5000 depending on the car type. These deposits are usually paid with credit cards (pre-authorization) from Visa or Mastercard, with a refund period of 30-60 business days.
- Age Requirements: Renters typically need to be between 25 and 75 years old.
- Fuel Policy: The standard agreement for fuel is often "Full to Full," meaning the car should be returned with a full tank to avoid additional charges. However, a review noted being given a car with a half-tank, so verifying this at pick-up is crucial.
America Car Rental has several features that they aim to provide, alongside common customer experiences that highlight areas for consideration:
- Potentially Lower Base Prices: Their online pricing can appear very attractive, often showing rates significantly lower than major on-airport rental agencies, which can be a strong initial draw for budget-conscious renters.
- Convenient Off-Airport Location: Being near MIA and offering a shuttle is designed for convenience, providing an alternative to the busier on-airport rental centers.
- Well-Running Vehicles (Sometimes): One reviewer noted, "The car itself was nice and ran well," indicating that when a good vehicle is provided, it performs adequately for travel needs.
- Efficiency of Drop-off (Variable): While one review mentioned drop-off being "disorganized" and requiring repeated requests for a receipt, other general reviews indicate dropping off can be "reasonably quick and easy."
- Customer Service (Inconsistent): While some general feedback mentions "friendly personnel" on return, severe communication issues during pick-up and problems resolving billing disputes (e.g., "tried for several months to get my money back") are frequently reported, suggesting inconsistency in customer support.
- Lack of Price Transparency: A major and recurring issue highlighted by customers is a "slew of hidden fees" and mandatory "insurance upgrade and toll fee upgrade" that are not disclosed during the online reservation process. This leads to a final cost that is "more than double what we expected."
- High Mandatory Insurance Limits: The requirement for an "extremely high liability insurance limit ($500,000)" that "most people’s policies don’t cover" forces customers to purchase their expensive insurance, significantly impacting the final price.
- Vehicle Condition & Cleanliness (Variable): Reviews mention issues ranging from "roaches in them" to "very nasty stains" on seats and "old tires," indicating that the cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles can be highly inconsistent and below acceptable standards for some customers.
- Disorganized Processes: Beyond communication for the shuttle, other processes like providing receipts and ensuring correct billing (especially for tolls) appear to be disorganized for some customers, leading to "sketchy" feelings and further frustration.

Their general operating hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily. For Floridians, particularly those in the Miami area, the decision to rent from America Car Rental at 2301 NW 33rd Ave warrants careful consideration. While the initial allure of significantly lower prices on their website might seem appealing for a local needing a temporary vehicle or for accommodating visitors, the recurring themes in customer reviews suggest that these initial savings often do not translate to the final cost or a smooth experience.
Locals, accustomed to the ease and transparency of established services, may find the reported "lack of transparency" with "hidden fees" and "surprise charges" particularly frustrating. The requirement for an "extremely high liability insurance limit" that often forces customers to buy additional, costly coverage, even with their own insurance, negates the initial price advantage and can make America Car Rental more expensive than airport alternatives. Furthermore, the reported difficulties in "getting in touch with them" for the shuttle or for customer service, and issues like "disorganized" drop-off processes or concerns about vehicle cleanliness (e.g., "roaches"), are significant red flags that could turn a simple rental into a stressful ordeal.
While the location near MIA might appear convenient, the overall pattern of customer feedback suggests that the potential for frustration and unexpected costs is high. For Floridians prioritizing predictability, clear communication, and a hassle-free experience, it might be advisable to "spend a little more upfront for a company that’s honest and dependable" or stick with well-known on-airport brands. If a local does choose America Car Rental, extreme diligence in documenting everything from initial quotes to vehicle condition, and thoroughly clarifying all insurance and fee requirements upfront, is absolutely essential to mitigate potential issues and ensure their Florida journey remains stress-free.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We chose this rental car company in Miami because their website showed prices significantly lower than airport rentals (around $20–$30/day) so we assumed that having to shuttle from the airport in exchange for some savings was worth it. Unfortunately, the actual experience was far more expensive and frustrating. When we arrived, we were hit with a slew of hidden fees that were not disclosed upfront. They required an extremely high liability insurance limit ($500,000) even if you had your own insurance, which most people’s policies don’t cover. Because of that and other fees, the final cost was closer to $75/day, which was more than double what we expected and even MORE expensive than the airport rental options we were trying to avoid. To make matters worse, getting in touch with them was nearly impossible. When we landed, we tried calling to locate the shuttle as instructed and couldn’t get anyone to answer. We waited nearly 30 minutes with no information and no contact from the company, and only by chance did a shuttle eventually show up. The poor communication was a huge red flag and very stressful after a long flight. The car itself was nice and ran well, but even the drop-off process was disorganized. They didn’t offer any receipt or confirmation of return until we asked, twice, which felt sketchy and left us feeling uneasy about the whole thing.Overall, I would not recommend this company. The lack of transparency, the difficulty contacting them, and the surprise charges made for a frustrating and disappointing experience. Spend a little more upfront for a company that’s honest and dependable. You’ll save yourself the stress and just rent at the airport (plus it will be cheaper anyway!!!!)
May 21, 2025 · Madeleine BrownfieldDefinitely should’ve listened to the reviews! This was an awful experience! They didn’t have our car available & only offered a smaller car then made their insurance upgrade and toll fee upgrade mandatory - all charges that were not disclosed during reservation process! Total scam. Stay far away
Jun 15, 2025 · P ReyesIt was completely SCAM DO NOT EVER think to use that company, we booked through priceline website with all fees included in the price, when we arrived to the pickup location which is outside the airport (had to wait on a shuttle to pick us up). the customer service lady claimed that our insurance which is 300k is not enough and we need to buy their insurance asking for +550$ in top of the total price paid through priceline per car, as we had booked 2 cars.after 2 hours of negotiations and trying to down grade or upgrade she still giving us crazy prices and raising prices with every minute we spend in the office. it was so clear that she was taking advantage of the situation as we will not get refunded for the full price we paid upfront.forgot to mention we had older people waiting in the hot weather for the cars.at the end we decide to leave even if we lose the upfront money paid and not to be abused that way.my advice don't waste your money or time dealing with that company. I will escalate anyways as my father in law waited too long and we had to take him to ER afterwards.
