Avis Car Rental, located directly at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA), is a well-established name in the car rental industry, offering a range of vehicles and services designed to meet diverse travel needs. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of this specific Avis location, highlighting its strategic placement, the services it offers, and key features that make it a compelling choice for your car rental in the Volunteer State. We'll delve into the specifics that truly matter to local users and travelers alike.
The Avis Car Rental branch we are highlighting is conveniently situated at 1001 Airport Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421, USA. This address places it directly within the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, making it incredibly accessible for anyone arriving by air. Upon landing at CHA, the Avis counter is typically found within the airport terminal, often in the baggage claim area, requiring only a short walk from your gate to the rental counter. This direct airport presence is a significant advantage, eliminating the need for shuttle services or additional transportation, thus saving you valuable time and effort upon arrival or departure.
For Chattanooga locals, this airport location also proves highly convenient for picking up a vehicle before a flight or dropping one off upon return. The airport's well-organized infrastructure, with clear signage and straightforward traffic flow, contributes to a hassle-free experience. Furthermore, its connectivity to major roads and highways ensures that once you've secured your Avis rental, navigating to downtown Chattanooga, the scenic surrounding areas, or indeed anywhere across Tennessee is an efficient and direct process. The accessibility from various parts of the city means it's a practical choice even if you're not flying, but simply need a rental car for a period.
Avis Car Rental is globally recognized for its commitment to providing a wide array of services that cater to various customer demands. The Chattanooga Airport location offers a full suite of these core Avis offerings:
- Extensive Vehicle Fleet: Avis maintains a diverse selection of vehicles to accommodate different travel preferences and group sizes. You can typically choose from fuel-efficient economy cars, comfortable sedans ideal for business or leisure, spacious SUVs and minivans perfect for families, and even luxury vehicles for a more premium travel experience. This variety ensures you can find a vehicle that perfectly matches your specific requirements, comfort level, and budget.
- Flexible Rental Periods: Whether you need a car for a brief excursion, a week-long business trip, or an extended stay, Avis offers flexible daily, weekly, and monthly rental options to align with your personal or professional schedule.
- Avis Preferred Program: For frequent renters, the Avis Preferred program offers expedited service, allowing members to bypass the counter at many locations, choose their preferred vehicle from a designated area, and enjoy faster returns. This can significantly streamline the rental process, especially at a busy airport.
- One-Way Rentals: If your travel plans involve picking up a car in Chattanooga and dropping it off at another Avis location in a different city or state, one-way rental options are often available, providing great flexibility for diverse itineraries.
- Optional Add-ons and Protection: To enhance your rental experience, Avis offers various optional add-ons, including GPS navigation systems, child safety seats, and various protection plans like Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and Roadside Assistance. It is always recommended to review your personal insurance coverage before purchasing these options.
The Avis Car Rental at Chattanooga Airport possesses several features and highlights that contribute to its overall suitability for renters, though it's important to consider all aspects of the customer experience:
- Streamlined Airport Process: One customer's poetic review perfectly encapsulates the efficiency: "A line awaited, four or five, But service swift, helped me survive." This highlights the ability of the staff to manage customer flow effectively, even during busy periods. The direct walk from the terminal to the rental counter and then to the car lot is a significant convenience.
- Vehicle Availability: The same customer noted, "One car remained, a perfect find, For my journey, peace of mind," suggesting that even when inventory might be low, the location strives to have options available for immediate needs.
- Ease of Drop-off: The process of returning the vehicle at the airport is generally designed for ease, with clear signage directing to Avis/Budget return rows, as mentioned in one review.
- Responsive Customer Support: While one customer experienced an issue with a fuel surcharge and an app error, they also noted that the "ticket was thankfully quickly handled and a refund...was given." This indicates that when issues arise, the customer service support is capable of addressing them, even if initial frustrations occur.
However, it's also crucial to acknowledge potential areas for improvement. The review mentioning the "Skip the line, pick your car in the app" feature not being supported at this specific location, despite being promoted, points to a potential disconnect between corporate messaging and local implementation. Similarly, the discrepancy in fuel gauge readings upon return, leading to a surcharge, highlights the importance of customers thoroughly documenting the vehicle's condition, including fuel and mileage, both at pick-up and drop-off. Renters should consider taking photos or videos of the dashboard and fuel gauge as a precautionary measure. Transparency in communication regarding app functionality and return procedures could enhance the customer experience.

Jan 02, 2025 · Diego CalamariRented a car here and was sent a text the day before saying, "Skip the line, pick your car in the app when you arrive!"I arrived, went into the app, hit "Select Vehicle".... and was given an error. Tried a few more times, same thing. Went to the counter and the was told "Yes we don't allow app selections here." Rest of the check-in process went smoothly, mostly because I booked beforehand and because I have Avis Preferred with a lot of my information saved. When I went to return the vehicle, I made sure it was filled up, then drove back to the Chattanooga airport - there are signs directing you where to go to return the vehicle, and a row for Avis/Budget returns, but no further instructions and nobody manning the booths in the garage. I parked in an empty Avis spot; the app said I could leave the keys in the car and return via it, but after the check-in experience I didn't trust it. I took a picture of the car dash showing mileage and fuel level as well. Went in, only way to return the car is to wait and line and hand the keys back; waited for ~10 minutes while others were processed, was asked "is the car full?" to which I replied yes.I checked the e-receipt when I received it and noticed there was a Fuel Surcharge of $5.99; I immediately went to the Avis website and opened a ticket with support, showing the picture showing the car full. Upon further detailed review of the receipt, it showed the car as going out with 15.8 gallons, and returning with..... 15.2. First off, my issue there is I don't know of any car that gives you estimates in the tenths of gallons, meaning there doesn't seem to be any reliable way to gauge to this level. Secondly, the mileage in was higher than I recorded, and I filled the tank to the point the gas pump auto shut-off - what more is the average consumer expected to do?The ticket was thankfully quickly handled and a refund for the Fuel Surcharge + applicable taxes was given. All in all, we're talking less than $7.50. However, the customer service rep notated on my ticket that next time I should bring in my receipt from getting gas - to which I ask, why? Is the gauge not considered accurate enough? But I also have to wonder - if this is happening across the board, how much does that add up to? It's dishonest at best, and the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Pushing people to use the app and then having locations that don't "support" it is also terrible. Either make the application aware of these locations so it can act accordingly, or tell your locations to get on board and do things uniformly. Also consider putting copious amounts of signage at locations so people know what to expect, and what is expected of them.I use Avis because there is a corporate rate through my company, but I would advise anyone considering them - take photos of the car when you pick it up and when you return it, especially including the dash showing mileage and fuel levels.
Apr 26, 2025 · Colin TilleyI booked a rental car two weeks in advanced and i arrived 15 minutes early, but I was told it would be an hour wait due to the fact they have no cars currently available. I understand things happen but i would not have paid $340 two weeks ago to wait an hour and have my entire trip postponed when other companies in the airport seem to be getting their clients on the road just fine.
May 18, 2025 · Kiera zaneBooked $179 for a one way “mystery car” out of Atlanta. Agent said they didn’t have a mystery car but ok, she would find me a vehicle. Did not provide any paperwork. When I returned the car at Chattanooga, requested receipt, agent there said it would be emailed. Never received, but then card was charged $330. A $65 car up-charge, $40 gas (car was returned full) and associated taxes. Spent 45 min on two different calls to get resolved.
May 18, 2025 · BradI drove in today 1/20/24! No worker in site. Drove one way from Texas. Dropped off car into spot. Can't reach anyone by phone. Im ill so I couldn't walk into that bldg. I was told to return in garage and leave key, car stopped on me twice. Roadside asst sucks too. This one way rental has been nightmare! The 800 rep tried to reach someone at the local Chattanooga airport location. Nothing! The security guy saw took my info, he said no flights currently he didn't see anyone inside either. How do you check in car if nobody here. This is crazy. They app doesn't work. I have called 800 customer service to document. But do better Chattanooga Airport Avis.
