I could still get a car — but only if I paid $80–$100 more to upgrade. I made it clear that I shouldn’t be penalized for someone else’s failure to return a car.They provided me with the Avis customer service number, and I called. I spoke with a supervisor who assured me that I would receive the upgrade at no additional cost — she said she would add notes to my reservation and gave me a case ID number to provide at the location to prevent any issues.However, when I arrived, the location stated they couldn’t see any notes, and that they had no access to look up case ID numbers. They refused to honor what corporate told me, saying they were an independent franchise and not obligated to follow corporate instructions.I called back and spoke with Supervisor Elisabeth (ID #40522). While she did acknowledge the situation and said I would be refunded the price difference if I accepted the upgrade, her solution did not ensure I would receive a vehicle. Because I spent over 30 minutes on hold waiting to speak with her, the location informed me that the upgraded car was no longer available by the time we finished the call.Despite following every instruction and trusting that corporate support would protect my reservation, I was left with no vehicle, no resolution, and wasted time. The handling of this situation was unprofessional and unacceptable.Avis failed to uphold their commitment and left me stranded. I will not be renting from them again — and I highly encourage others to avoid going through the same frustration.

When I got to the rental office, the woman told me all they had was SUVs, which meant an upcharge. While I was waiting, a woman came in to return a Camry. The Avis people wouldn't let me have it because it "hadn't been cleaned yet." Almost an hour later, after waiting for a snafu with their electronic equipment to resolve, I go out to the parking lot to get the Nissan Rogue. IT IS THE FILTHIEST VEHICLE I'VE EVER SEEN. I can't see out of the rear window, and the back camera is totally obscured. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH AVIS.

I had to return my vehicles to the Kannapolis location on February 3, 2025 by 12pm. I picked up my vehicle on Sunday February 2, 2025 in Miami which was supposed to be a 12 passenger reserved in September 26, 2024 at 10am. Me and my family just gotten off our Cruise from Carnival We had jusI waited 2hrs with no van for them to to tell they can get your requested van, but you can get a Pacifica and an Expedition for the price of 1 at a discounted rate. I said that fine cause we need to get back on the. I was driving the Pacifica and my cousin was driving the Expedition headed back to North Carolina. We got back and I returned the Van as is gas in it at the Kannapolis location iand then my cousin return hers few minute all before the 12pm hr. This guy who worked the location who was checking the van in saying. He didn't give a shit what the Miami location says, and he told my cousin I ought to make his ass come back and clean this van cause it got cat hair. Mind you 1. im allergy to cat hair. 2. I just getting back from a cruise, so where the chance i had to pick up a cat. 3. Plus I paid full coverage on the vehicle so if anything happened to it's covered. He then proceeds to say my mom own this AVIS and she going charge you this. So a day go by I notice a charge of $150.00 i called the Avis customer service line and I explained my dilemma and they agreed to take the $150.00 off and return it back to my card. Im still not completely satisfied with the situation because they should be some consequences and repercussions if you have no respect for the paying customer who has been spending their hard on money with Avis for years. Im still waiting for Avis customer service to call to get more information but I will not doing business at this Avis location again so buyer beware and I am reporting this to the Better Business Beauru of a grievance complaint.Anthony Edwards

They immediately told me that they have no cars available and they did not give me any other options. They seem to have multiple cars, parked outside, but they still did not offer any cars for rental. They entirely blamed Expedia. Why does avis allow third party booking when they cannot honor it. Extremely bad customer service.
