Avoid Renting Electric Vehicles from Avis!I strongly advise against renting electric vehicles through Avis. The website advertised a Tesla Model 3 or similar, but I was given a Kia Niro EV instead, which is not comparable in any meaningful way. Unfortunately, this car nearly put me in danger multiple times during a short weekend trip.First, the vehicle did not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto unless a USB Type-A to Type-C cable was used. This outdated cable is difficult to find. I checked multiple gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores, but none carried it. When connected via Bluetooth, the vehicle’s system only played partial voice navigation. For example, instead of “Turn right on Main Street,” it only said “Main Street.” As someone driving alone without a phone mount, this created an unsafe situation. I had no choice but to use the car’s built-in navigation system, which was not only unreliable but often directed me to charging stations that didn’t exist.The battery performance was also a serious issue. I picked up the vehicle in Round Rock with a 75% charge and an estimated range of 190 miles. However, I ran out of battery before even reaching Houston, a drive of approximately 150 miles. I stopped at a gas station with a charger. While the charging started off quickly, it took over an hour just to go from 60% to 85%. This caused unnecessary delays and added stress to my trip.Throughout the drive, I was constantly worried about the battery level. I left Houston at 4 p.m. on Sunday to ensure I could return safely, but I still encountered major issues. The navigation system sent me to charging stations that either didn’t exist, were out of order, had incompatible plugs, or were slow chargers. I had to stop at eight different charging stations just to keep the vehicle running, and I didn’t get home until 2 a.m. on Monday. It took me at most 3 hours with a gasoline car.Being stranded in unfamiliar and isolated areas late at night while trying to recharge was extremely stressful. As a woman working abroad alone, I felt vulnerable and unsafe. This rental placed my personal safety at serious risk.To make matters worse, when I returned the car, the Avis staff showed no concern at all. They told me it was not their responsibility and that I should have gone to the airport to exchange the car. This level of disregard was incredibly disappointing.This was, without question, the worst rental experience I’ve ever had.

I’m really disappointed in this Avis location. I’ve rented from here several times and every time I show up the car is not ready. This means I need to wait 40+ minutes past my pickup time while they “clean” the car.This last time I showed up they asked if I cared if they left the outside dirty. I said that was fine. When I finally got the car, I felt it pulling to one side even at low speeds. I drove it home and asked my husband to look at it and he noticed the wheel was bent, ie the car was unsafe to drive.I called the office to see if they had another car, however no one picked up even after several tries so I just drove back. When we got there we spent 20 minutes standing in the lobby talking, no one came out. After that we poked our head into an office to find the manager was playing a video game on his phone just completely ignoring us. We explained the situation, he never apologized and just said “oh we don’t inspect the cars.” Cool…They then gave me another car that was disgusting. I didn’t immediately notice how dirty it was, I just thought maybe it was a bit dusty. However, after some inspection I found it was covered in someone else’s crumbs, trash, dirt.. everything you can think of! At this point, I wasn’t going to return the car. At least it drove, right?When I returned the car I explained all this to who I assume is the GM. He was apologetic and credited me a whopping $25!He also stated they do NO inspections on the car so they have no idea if they’re safe to drive unless a previous driver discloses an issue. Perhaps that’s standard, but it doesn’t seem like it should be.Keep in mind this is a work rental, I don’t care about the cost. I’m just disappointed in the experience and lack of ownership.Long story short, I won’t be returning. Which is sad bc I’ve been a loyal Avis member for years now.

From the moment I arrived, MAT was professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. He made the entire process smooth and efficient, clearly explaining everything I needed to know and ensuring I was comfortable with the rental details.Met went above and beyond to make sure I had a positive experience, and his genuine commitment to customer satisfaction truly stood out. It’s not often you come across someone so dedicated and courteous in customer service. Thanks to MAT, I’ll definitely be choosing Avis again for future rentals.Highly recommend!

I sometimes rent vehicles from this location for work travel. Sam is always friendly and helpful. I never have to wait for my reservation. Pick up and drop off has always been a good experience
