Because of this I was hopeful this would be a good rental experience.However, when I got the van the seats were dirty, the van smelled like sweat (like a football locker room), and it had not been cleaned thoroughly. I have rented vehicles many times all over the world and I have never received a vehicle that was this dirty or so poorly cleaned. I had to spend $40 to clean the van myself to get the smell out since I could not wait for them to do it.Worse yet, the next day (this is a multi day rental) cockroaches began to come out of the vents. In total I’ve killed 20 cockroaches that came from the interior of the car.I don’t understand how this is acceptable. I still am out on this rental (it is an 18 day rental) and I was only offered 3 days off. How can they even offer vehicles that haven’t been cleaned properly? Do they have that little respect for their customers?

I rented a car recently on 8/24 from Budget booked through Priceline. Due to summer it was already overpriced at $118 per day. The person at the counter told me the gas was full and told me to return it full. I thought it was standard practice as I have rented over 100 times in the last 10 years. I took a few pictures of the outside (car received: 9:27 am) and since was rushing took the car out and a few minutes in saw the low fuel indicator showing 45 miles to empty. I took a picture quickly for proof, and carried on with my trip filling gas as required and wanted to return empty. When I returned the car at 9:05 am next day, the guy checking the car asked me if the tank was full. I told him since the tank was empty, it was returned empty and there was a mistake on their part to not check the fuel gauge. Then this guy tells me there is a fresh scratch from an accident, I was shocked since there wasn’t any accident and I already had pictures taken before starting the rental. He kept quiet after I showed him the picture. A few days later, I saw my cc was charged $200 and I downloaded the e-receipt which showed was charged a extra day charge of $63 (return processed : 9:58 AM) and fuel charge of $19. This is such shady behavior and maybe thee has been a management change but this is unacceptable by a reputed rental car company.

On top of that, they wanted to run my credit as if I was buying a car, which makes no sense for a rental. This was never mentioned during the reservation process. I chose to cancel and went with another company where everything was fast, clear, and hassle-free. I do not recommend this place.
Jun 23, 2025 · Addison AlavaNot sure why there are some sketchy reviews- had a excellent interaction with the staff here when renting a car oneway to North Carolina after a cancelled flight- I was in Manhattan and booked the car oneway Expedia and next morning took the Path Train to Jersey City Grove stop and it’s a very nice 3 block walk to Budget/Avis- there was no line at 9am, though all airports were shut down the night prior- and you can’t rent oneway at LGA/JFK or Manhattan for any rental company- the team here is quick, well organized and gave me a choice of 5 SUV’s! Top notch and drive it 8 hours straight and just got home! I rent about 40 cars a year, normally Hertz, this was just as good on all levels-

The company said that they were sending cars over, but refused to give a time for the arrival of the cars. They have no chairs for customers to sit on while waiting, so all those waiting for cars stood around in their hot office for over an hour.
