The staff was very helpful and got me into another car.Unfortunately that car had a bunch of issues that popped up over the next 3 days of rental.Car smelled of weed and cigarettes when you turn on ac.Vehicle would start vibrating when you got on the parkway and reached 50 mph. Felt like an alignment issue. I took local with the avis rental after that death wobble on the highway.Car had a check engine light on. Gas mileage on this vehicle was terrible. Not sure if both are related.Like I said, staff was great but the vehicles need maintenance and an acceptable standard for cleanliness.

No windshield wiper fluid, stunk like cigarettes, oil light intermittently came on during my drive to Vermont. Once I arrived at destination I had gas station check the oil which was almost empty. The gas station added sufficient oil as there was no Avis near me. At my expense. My next worry was, is there enough antifreeze as the vehicle had Florida plates. I didn’t check it’s on them! Well I made it back to the Avis in NY with no other issues w exception of gas prices. I’m from Ca didn’t realize there are 2 islands here, one for full serve at much higher price and one self serve at least 45 cents cheaper. I didn’t see the difference but the attendant could have told me. I said oh wow you pump gas…that should have clued him in that I was unaware of 2 price points. Well as I sit there waiting for my ride I noticed price difference. I said to the same attendant, I wasn’t aware of self serve island his response “now you know”. What a d-ck!

Besides the fact I had to personally go retrieve the car myself, I was not pleased with the cleanliness of the car. ( The Kia they initially offered smelled like smoke 😒). A white Corolla unwashed and unvacummed. Stained cup holders right behind the gear shift topped with some garbage left behind by the previous guest. I assumed during the current corona virus pandemic extra precautions were set in place to ensure cleanliness of each vehicle. That proved not to be true. Luckily I had sanitizer wipes and used my entire pack in order to clean the surfaces prior to use. I'm hoping I do not get sick. I don't know if this is typical service from non airport locations but it's safe to say I won't rent from this location again. I paid full price only to receive half service .

When I arrived to the new Hyde park location to pick the SUV they told me they didn't have any SUV available, and that if I wanted to take a small car which I had no choice but to take a small car which was very uncomfortable and car, had brake issues, shaking badly, and smell lots smoking. The person said to call avis to get a price adjustment since they didn't have any SUV available but when I called, the representative was unhelpful and very rude and had the worst customer experience, i regretted to rent avis car. Had rented avis car before and had good experience however, this time was a very unpleasant situation and maybe I will not rent avis anymore.
