I will never rent from Avis Car Rental ever again. I rented a Mid-Large Sedan Hybrid in Pensacola and got a very dirty Kia K4. The car was ok but was not a hybrid and first time I ever rented from Avis. I returned the car and talked to the gate agent. He was kind and gave me a $75 credit. I took a last minute trip to Miami and rented a Midsize Crossover. They gave me a Mazda CX50 and it is a good car but extremely dirty once again and no washer fluid. I pre-paid for the car and had an emergency and did not need the car.I tried to return the Mazda at the Aventura Mall Avis. There was only one overworked agent working 6 customers at the same time. It is in a horrible trailer park (parking lot structure) and there was no help for this person and the agent could care less that I left unhappy. I wound up returning it at the Doubletree Hotel at the Sunny Isles Beach Avis and did not receive any credit for the unused portion. The gate agent is not authorized to do anything.I complained to customer service and was treated with very little care or concern. If fact, the operator treated me like I was a jerk and tried to trick me into not speaking to a supervisor. After speaking with a supervisor, that person told me maybe Avis will give me a credit and now two discounted vouchers for my next two rentals. I will always look at Alamo, Enterprise, National, and Hertz companies before I ever rent from Avis-Budget. I don't care how inexpensive. I never had a bad experience with Alamo-Enterprise so will never rent with this company again.What Nic Fraz wrote and took pictures of his dirty car, is exactly how I received my Kia and Mazda. Bad experience :The check-in staff were friendly, but the cars were shockingly dirty. We swapped six vehicles over two dates to find an acceptable one. One car even had a broken driver’s window opener, leaving it unusable. This is unacceptableUpdate: After a warning from the car’s technical support system, we needed to fill up air in all 4 tires (after a few days of rental period)

Appalling company- Avoid at all costs!We had to queue 45 minutes to speak to an agent. When we did, we were told that we were signing to say we did not want to add fuel, an additional driver, collision damage or breakdown. There was no time to read the contract as the queue was so long and the agent was rushing us.When returned the car to Orlando airport, where there was nobody to handover to- Only a key box. Shortly after I received an email saying that the rental price was $100 more than quoted.After reviewing the documents, it became apparent that the agent lied to us and we signed to add all the additional extras that we did not want. I've tried to complain multiple times but had no response at all. I booked through a third party who made contact on our behalf and they have finally admitted the fuel was charged mistakenly. However, they've taken no accountability for the other charges that we did not want- Including an additional driver when I was the only person with a license!!I've still heard nothing back from them directly and it's been 4 months. Absolutely horrendous company- There's plenty of choice at MIA, I'd suggest going literally anywhere else than here.

The AVIS employee Frank at Miami Airport on June 24, 2025, was nice, but much too quick. He didn't give me time to read the rental agreement. I had to sign it quickly. Although I had pointed out to him from the beginning that my package (price: $281.16 for one week) included all insurance and the full/full gas option, he tacitly included several additional insurance policies and optional extras (gas service option, etc.) in the agreement. I also declined his suggestion to activate the e-toll because I wanted to avoid toll highways and spend most of my time at the beach. He activated the e-toll anyway, which resulted in an additional charge of $67.45 for that week. The final result was $297.45 in "non-package items" added to the agreed package price of $281.16, bringing my total bill to $578.61. To me, this is customer fraud!The other Avis employees and the car were fine.

Terrible Experience – Avoid Avis at MIA!I booked a rental with Avis at Miami International Airport expecting a smooth experience, but it was anything but. First, the directions to the rental center were confusing and poorly marked, making it difficult to even find where to go. Once I finally arrived, I went to the Preferred booth, assuming the line would move quickly. Big mistake.There were only about 12 people ahead of me, yet I still had to wait over an hour to be helped. The employees seemed completely indifferent to the growing line, moving at a snail’s pace with no urgency at all. What’s the point of being a Preferred member if it still takes this long?The entire process was disorganized, and by the time I finally got my car, I was beyond frustrated. I’ve rented from many companies before, but this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Save yourself the hassle and rent from literally anyone else.
