Horrible Experience with Avis Car Rental - Unprofessional and DistressingI recently had an extremely frustrating and distressing experience with Avis, and I feel compelled to share it to warn others.I had rented a car from Avis for two weeks and called to extend my rental on a Friday, which was confirmed and seemed straightforward. However, three days later, I received a call informing me that the car was scheduled to be repossessed, and I needed to return it immediately. I tried calling customer service multiple times to clarify why my extension wasn’t processed, but I received no clear answers.I rushed to return the car to avoid any penalties, and when I arrived at the location just before closing, I was told I couldn’t rent a new car due to missing a required credit card. Despite this, I was still trying to find solutions. The staff became very impatient and rushed me, even though I was doing my best not to get stranded.To make matters worse, once the employees left for the night, they locked my belongings inside the car and left without unlocking the doors. I was left stranded, emotionally distressed, and had to call the police for assistance. When the police arrived, the Avis employee returned and, instead of assisting further, began to rush me and even called the police back to lock the doors again. I was shaken by the entire ordeal.To top it off, the initial Avis employee who helped me called to apologize and encouraged me to file a complaint. But just 20 minutes later, I received a call saying I was now on the Do Not Rent (DNR) list—with no explanation, leaving me unable to rent a car.This whole experience was completely unacceptable and unprofessional, and it has caused me significant stress and inconvenience. I am extremely disappointed in Avis and will never use their services again.Avoid Avis if you value your time and peace of mind.I inserted a pic of the employees vehicle who literally left without unlocking the doors for me to get my belongings out of the car!!

I had a frustrating experience with this Avis location. At 7:41 AM, I received a message confirming that a Mach-E was available for rent and that I needed to create an Avis Preferred membership to proceed. I followed all instructions and planned to pick up the car at my scheduled time of 10 AM—the earliest time they even start assisting customers.Wanting to ensure I arrived early, I was already on my way to the location to be there before 9:30 AM, giving myself enough time to complete the process smoothly. However, about an hour and a half after their initial message, I received another one stating they had “sold out” and that my reservation was being canceled—before they had even started seeing customers for the day.I immediately texted back for clarification and called two different numbers, but no one ever responded. If reservations are not actually honored and vehicles are given away before they even open to customers, that should be made clear upfront. Otherwise, people are left wasting their time on a process that ultimately leads nowhere.That being said, I do intend to continue using Avis, as I know there are some good people working there. However, experiences like this can be incredibly frustrating, and I hope they improve their communication and reservation system moving forward.

It's actually ZERO STARS for me but it won't let me. This all went down 48 HOURS before I was scheduled to pickup a rental on JULY 2ND. Avis confirmed on JUNE 29th and the next morning - JUNE 30th that "I'm all set to go." Hours later after the last reminder, the same morning of JUN 30th I received a text that the car WILL NOT be available due to inventory. I called customer service as instructed and was told I had to pay an extra $55 if I were try to a car from another location. Beyond unacceptable. I booked way in advance. I spoke to 4 customer service agents and none of them could help me achieve a resolution with spending more money. A refund is 3-5 days one said. Another said 3-10 days. I asked to speak with a manager and I was told he was in a meeting and I would need to call back later to "try" to speak with the manager. I called again to make sure in fact the car was unavailable because I was still in disbelief. A rep told me she saw the car as available and I should give it sometime and check with the local rental later. I called the local rental to tell them what the rep said. He proceeded to tell him NOT to listen to customer service and says he argues with them all day because they don't know what they're talking about. Basically, the reps, local agents and online are usually not on the same page. He said, At least you're finding out now and not on the day of. 😳 Then, THE DAGGER! He asks me, is it a one-way rental? I confirmed with a yes. He says, THIS LOCATION DOES NOT DO ONE-WAY RENTALS. BUT....they took my money for a one-way rental on JUNE 13th and today is JUNE 30th!!!! I, of course, WAS SHOCKED...because I had no idea.I proceeded to tell him the AVIS customer service was ghetto. I told him I won't have a car and no money (immediate refund) to get another car. He listened to me talk to say how disappointed and frustrated I was. Then, he hung up the phone on me. 😳I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. Rented a car for just a few hr s for a work trip. The service attendant was very nice and professional.Cars here are normally a bit dirty as they do not seem to have a car wash on site. Also, the inside windshield on my last few rentals needed cleaning to the point I couldn't see out under sunny conditions. Ask for some glass cleaner and a towel before leaving. They should give you one.
