★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I will start by saying all the folks that I spoke with were great and customer service was awesome. Lou is the gentleman that processed my rental and got me in a car. He was exceptionally great at his job. Very friendly and informative. Lou is the only reason for 3 stars and for customer service he was a 5.The maintenance and standard at which the car was recieved was extremely poor. It was pretty dirty inside and out and that's an understatement. After I got to my destination I had to run it through a car wash and deep clean the windows because the film on the outside was so bad that with any moisture, I couldn't see through the window to drive. I also had to get clorrox wipes and clean the inside because it was pretty gross.The a/c also had issues and no matter what I did I couldn't keep it from blowing the hottest air possible. I have videos of what it was doing. Right after I picked up the car I had a 3 hour drive to my business location and I couldn't get the hot air to stop blowing. It wouldn't let me turn it off. It seemed like there was some kind of short in the system somewhere. I have videos and pictures of the car doing this.
May 27, 2025 · Amanda PangelinanHorrible horrible trip courtesy of Avis! I was issued an inoperable vehicle to drive that needed major repairs. We received the car late at night so we entrusted that the vehicle was well maintained and inspected before heading out on the road, this was not the case. After a few hours of driving the rear tires were worn and down to the threads due to the SUV having improper wheel alignment which resulted in us breaking down on the side of the road with a flat on Both back wheels. We were stranded in the middle of nowhere with no signal where no one could reach us. We had to pay out of pocket for two new tires which OFCOURSE did not last heading back out from our destination due to the poor alignment those tires got eaten out as well as within 2 hrs of the drive. The car was became wobbly and became unsafe for the highway so we had no choice but to Stop ONCE AGAIN and find another Avis 30 minutes out of town to replace the vehicle which was another nightmare cause no seven seaters were available (we had seven passengers) so we had to pay out of pocket AGAIN to rent a separate sedan to fit us 7 passengers and luggage. I was told by Avis in Tampa FL to change and be reimbursed after they identified that they had no replacement vehicles available for me and my party. However once we returned home that was NOT the case.Our priority was to return home if no 7 seaters were available what were we supposed to do drive to every Avis? We were forced to take two vehicles back and were penalized for it! Unacceptable this situation warranted a FULL refund but in the end we only received a couple days. Each branch is doing their own thing no one communicates with each other and no one seems to care just will say anything to pas you along. Our family's safety was at risk because this could have easily been a situation where the tire blew out and caused an accident. I will now be flying anywhere out of state ruined any future rentals for me! Never Again! Terrible Terrible Terrible!
Jun 29, 2025 · Andre SI wish I could give them no stars. I will never rent from Avis again - drive at your own risk. I did reached out to them but no one has followed up with me. I waited over an hour and then some for a car that had 2 BALD front tires and was embarrassing dirty. It was a rainy day when I picked up the SUV. I thought the car was driving funny and sliding but just chucked it up as Atlanta having bad roads but that wasn’t the case it was the BALD. And my prepaid was one price but charged a higher price. Not sure why because I picked the car up on a Friday instead of Thursday because of the unfortunate helicopter and plane crash. Here are the pictures of the dirty vehicle and the bald tires which could have seriously hurt me and my family. So because I haven’t heard back from them, I feel that they don’t care but I hope they do care enough to take that SUV out of commission. And do thorough investigation for each vehicle.

We arrived in Atlanta with all the necessary documentation and waited in line for circa 2 hours. After which we went up to the counter and found out we had to pay an EXTRA $1370 dollars just for extra insurance. After they found out that there was no way we could pay that sort of money they settled for around $700 EXTRA after having CONFIRMED that $1370 was the absolute minimum amount. And of course the very rude employee was barely giving information and dismissing our every claim while of course bopping her head and snapping her fingers. Our rental voucher confirms that we already had insurance on the car and we basically paid 2 times. Having medical issues and little time to follow on the matter we just wanted to get on our way. We paid for a large size SUV and we got a mid size one. When we got to the car, the car was pretty dirty and it had traces of tobacco all around and pieces of food scattered in the ground. We even found a cigarette in the ground. We referred the issue and got a slip confirming the smell of marijuana by the staff! When we asked for another car the lot employee said that we were already in the exit section and there was nothing she could do, we had to wait in line all over again and she was not even sure we could get another one. Not having the time we settled. This is our first time of this issue happening while renting cars in the US. This is abuse. We will take international legal action and we already got the embassy involved. We got the receipts for everything.

It's a last resort, right? Your flight might be canceled, and you still need to reach your final destination, or you have a bunch of business meetings in a short period of time during your visit.I found myself in a situation where I needed a car for just one day. The online booking system suggested I book in advance to save time, so I downloaded their app and booked a car. You'd expect that all I’d need to do is show my ID and pick up the car, right? Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I ended up waiting in line for over an hour, only to be told by the desk agent that the car I booked wasn’t available. I was left wondering why they accepted my booking if they didn’t have the car. The agent said there were limited cars and there was nothing she could do. To top it off, I had to cancel my booking and incur cancellation fees, even though it wasn't my fault.She then tried all the sales tricks to get me another car. In the end, I ended up with a car for just one day at the cost of $700, with countless fees. You see, it's like being scratched on a wounded chest when you're already in pain. She mentioned that $250 was just a deposit, and it would be refunded when I returned the car. However, when I returned the car, the agent said, "No, we cannot return any money; we don't do that."Look at the pictures of the car I got. It wasn't cleaned, there was no water in the windshield wiper fluid, and I had to buy some to drive safely. The front windshield was full of mud.I will never rent a car again. These companies are just out to bleed you dry.
