This location was rude, vehicle was filthy (even after me asking to clean it), the cleaner literally did nothing. Changing to a car that had a functioning screen was difficult, and they overcharged me upon return, charging 2 days tolls and an extra hour, when they in fact had caused my delay.Have been a loyal customer of Avis and used in several countries, several times a year without issue.I will never use Avis again. Why has this location been allowed to operate like this?
Jun 23, 2025 · David LurchThis was one of the worst experiences at Avis and being a preferred Avis customer, I have rented at many Avis locations and this one needs a major overhaul. There is not a preferred board for quick pickup and exit for avis preferred customers and so everyone has to line up to be helped for both budget and avis. The shuttle was quick and efficient so they get one star for that but everything else was horrible. My representative was not rude but wasn't kind either and was impatient with me. I smiled and tried to talk to her but she ignored me besides short answers and questions. Took a long time to get my car and when I finally got it the car was extremely dirty. It even had used spoons and forks that I threw away. The car wasn't washed and nothing was cleaned inside with dirty cup holders and sticky substances on the doors and cups holders and middle console and just grime and marks all over the front seats and back seats. They literally took the car , checked it in then handed it to the next customer. I asked one of the front desk agents and they told me to go ask the people at the car wash. Three of them weren't even helping customers and yet they couldn't be able to help me as if too bad about the dirty car. The car wash dude was like " you want your car wash ?" And i was like " yes please, it's filthy !". When I was waiting, I realized there were 4 other customers waiting for their cars to get washed too. So this is a common practice here at this location. They take keys from one customer and pass it right away to the next without doing a proper cleaning. I waited another 50 minutes for a quick rinse of the outside of the car and they did vacuum the inside. But still had grime and dirt and marks and sticky cup holders. I cleaned the inside especially the middle console and cup holders later with alcohol wipes and a towel and my towel was black when I was done with it. Absolutely disgusting and they didn't seem to care. The odometer out was wrong too and I didn't realize this until I saw the receipt later. This car has been used extensively and almost 30,000 miles but yet they put the odometer mileage at 200. I tried to call Avis customer service to extend my time since they gave me the dirty car at 210 pm and I didn't get the "clean car " until 255 pm and yet I'm still expected to bring it back by 2-210 pm on the check in date. I also told them about the odometer mileage issue. Avis customer service representative didn't seem to care and told me that she Would submit the paperwork but I still would need to bring it back at 2-210 pm and can't account for the washing the car time. Also the representative did something to my reservation and she mentioned about my coupon not being valid and I told her that it was prepaid and I shouldn't be paying anything extra. So I don't even know what she did to the reservation, did she take off the coupon (which btw avis had to give me this service recovery coupon for another customer service issue ) and now I'm going to be charged when I bring the car back?This experience really made me question why I keep renting from avis when their corporate doesn't care ( still waiting for a call back from their corporate manager ) and clearly their locations don't care either. So frustratingUpdate : I just returned my car at Dulles and they lied and took off my service recovery coupon and charged me another $120. Very deceptive practices even though I asked her specifically when I got the car when I saw the extra $123 charge and she assured me that it would be taken off. Well it didn't. They should not lie to customers like that. Really wrong what they did and management doesn't seem to care to give me a call either. Don't get your car from this location. Horrible people and experience.

I rented a Premium SUV, and the condition of the vehicle was absolutely unacceptable. The cabin light control panel was completely missing, leaving exposed wiring, and the third-row seat motors had no cover, exposing the gears. How can such a vehicle possibly be deemed safe to drive?When I reported these issues and requested a replacement, they provided me with a Standard SUV, which wasn’t any better—it had nearly flat tires. This clearly shows a blatant disregard for customer safety and basic vehicle maintenance.This experience was completely unacceptable, and I will never rent from this location again. Safety and reliability should be their top priorities, but it’s clear they don’t care about either.

Attempted to scam you with extra fees after returning car.They are attempting to charge me a $250 penalty, claiming the exterior of the car was abnormally dirty. Here are pictures of it 2hrs before drop off in a Reagan parking garage… it has a little road salt because DC had it worst winter in a decade. But it’s certainly not unreasonably dirty.
