Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk Introduce
For residents across Virginia, having access to a reliable vehicle is often essential, whether it's for daily commutes, weekend excursions, or when your personal car is undergoing service. While traditional car rental agencies are a common choice, many dealerships now offer rental services, providing an alternative that can come with unique benefits, particularly if you're a fan of a specific brand. This article delves into Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk, offering a clear and factual overview for locals in Virginia who might be considering them for their next car rental. We'll explore their services, location, and key insights from customer experiences to help you determine if this is the right fit for your transportation needs.
Dealership rental programs, like those offered by Banister Nissan, aim to provide well-maintained, late-model vehicles, often with the added convenience of being connected to a full-service automotive center. Understanding what distinguishes such a service from a standalone rental agency is key to making an informed decision for your travels within the Commonwealth.
Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk is conveniently located at 1250 N Military Hwy, Norfolk, VA 23502, USA. This location places it along a major thoroughfare in Norfolk, offering good accessibility for residents throughout the city and from nearby areas such as Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth. Being a dealership-based rental service means it's situated within the Banister Nissan dealership itself, which can be particularly convenient for customers who are already bringing their Nissan vehicle in for service or maintenance.
North Military Highway is a well-traveled route, making the dealership easy to reach by personal vehicle or rideshare services. While not an airport location, its position within a commercial district ensures it's embedded within the local community's flow, providing a direct and straightforward option for those seeking a temporary car without the added complexity of airport logistics. The integrated nature of the rental service within the dealership means visitors can also access other dealership amenities if needed, though customer experiences around overall dealership services should be considered.
As a dealership-based rental service, Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk typically offers a specialized range of services, focusing primarily on Nissan vehicles:
Nissan Vehicle Rentals: The primary offering is the rental of late-model Nissan cars, trucks, and SUVs. This is ideal for customers who prefer Nissan vehicles, are considering purchasing a Nissan and want to "try before they buy," or need a temporary replacement vehicle while their Nissan is serviced.
Service Drive Rentals: A key service for existing Nissan owners is the availability of rental vehicles while their personal car is undergoing maintenance or repair at the Banister Nissan service center. This can be a convenient option to minimize disruption to daily routines.
Insurance Replacement Rentals: For those whose vehicles are involved in accidents or require extensive repairs covered by insurance, Banister Nissan Rental may offer insurance replacement rates, helping customers stay mobile during lengthy repair periods.
Flexible Rental Durations: While specific rates and terms can vary, dealership rentals typically offer daily, weekly, and sometimes monthly rates, catering to short-term needs as well as longer temporary transportation requirements.
Quality Maintained Vehicles: Vehicles in a dealership rental fleet are often newer models and are maintained by factory-trained technicians, potentially offering a higher standard of vehicle condition compared to some general rental agencies.
Customer reviews provide a mixed but crucial picture of the experience at Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk, particularly when considered as part of the broader dealership operations. Here are some key highlights and areas of concern:
Contrasting Customer Service Experiences: There's a notable dichotomy in customer service feedback. While some reviews highly praise specific rental department staff members, describing them as "professional," "friendly," "exceptional," and "knowledgeable" (e.g., Serenity and Que), other, broader dealership reviews express significant dissatisfaction. One positive review stated, "I was warmly greeted by Serenity and Que. Both women were exceptional, and knew a great deal about there craft." Conversely, general dealership reviews frequently mention "grossly deceitful" service techs, "entry level" sales reps, and "very dismissive" management, indicating a potential disconnect between the dedicated rental department and other areas of the dealership.
Long Wait Times and Lack of Communication: A significant concern highlighted by customers in the broader service context is extensive wait times, sometimes stretching to "min 3 hours," and a lack of communication. One customer detailed waiting from "0730 to almost 1400 just to end up having to find my own way home & back the next day," with "no communication, no loaners, only offer was a 'discounted rental' that wasn't available." This suggests that while rental cars are offered, their availability and the efficiency of the overall service process (especially if tied to vehicle maintenance) can be highly problematic.
Vehicle Quality and Maintenance Issues: While dealership rentals typically imply well-maintained vehicles, some reviews related to car purchases and service at the dealership raise concerns about recurring mechanical issues (e.g., "battery replacements within 6 months of having a brand new car") and disputes over necessary repairs or refunds for parts. This indirectly affects the perception of vehicle reliability within the Banister Nissan ecosystem.
"Blasphemous Services" and Customer Approach: Strong negative feedback includes descriptions of services as "very blasphemous" and a customer approach that appears to "take advantage of their customers." Accusations of "selling certified lemons" and staff needing "intense CS training" are prominent. This critical feedback, while not always directly about the rental process itself, paints a picture of broader operational and ethical challenges that could affect any customer interaction, including rentals.
Limited or Discriminatory Transport Service: For customers needing transportation while their car is being serviced or awaiting a rental, the dealership's transport service is reportedly limited in scope ("doesn’t go where all customers live which is very discriminatory"), and direct quotes from management like "Nissan shouldn’t have to absorb my costs" and comments about Uber drivers unwilling to travel for 20 minutes illustrate a potentially unhelpful stance on customer convenience and support.

For locals in Virginia, Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk offers the convenience of a dealership-based car rental, particularly appealing to Nissan owners or those interested in experiencing Nissan models. While positive experiences highlight the professionalism and helpfulness of specific rental department staff, a broader look at customer feedback for the dealership reveals significant concerns regarding overall customer service, extended wait times in the service department (which may impact rental accessibility), and disputes over vehicle quality and repair practices. The comments about "selling certified lemons" and issues with battery replacements, though related to car sales/service, contribute to a less than ideal perception of the vehicles themselves. Therefore, while the direct rental staff may be commendable, prospective renters should be highly cautious and prepared for potential inefficiencies or complications, especially if their rental is tied to service appointments. It would be prudent for Virginians to verify rental availability in advance, understand all terms, and consider whether the potential convenience outweighs the reported challenges in overall dealership operations before committing to a rental from Banister Nissan.

Banister Nissan Rental Norfolk Reviews
This location is very blasphemous in their services & customer approach. It’s obvious they take advantage of their customers. Almost like they are selling certified lemons. They all need intense CS training. No way that 4.9 rating is 100% authentic.Majority of the service techs are grossly deceitful to make a sale. Sales reps are very entry level. All the trustworthy reps quit. Management is very dismissive. The lobby is continuously filled with people waiting min 3 hours. I have proof that I sat in that facility one day from 0730 to almost 1400 just to end up having to find my own way home & back the next day. No communication, no loaners, only offer was a “discounted rental” that wasn’t available & denial of using my reward point towards paying for a 2023 Sentra that still doesn’t run currently. Their transport service doesn’t go where all customers live which is very discriminatory for those who live a distance.Customer Service Manager made it a point to mention that “Nissan shouldn’t have to absorb my costs” and that “not all Uber driver are willing to go assist certain people because of a 20min drive.”Almost every person buying their Nissans are needing battery replacements within 6 months of having a brand new car regardless of mileage. In addition to an overwhelming amount of people who have to argue & debate for refunds for installed parts they didn’t need. In which, they claim that “Nissan does not refund parts due to policy. Especially after diagnosis”.I have ran into too many people having the same mechanical issues. & are upset that Nissan doesn’t care that customers take their time to get their cars towed & transported there just to get the run around for hours.Corp has stated “they have no justification over technicians & what they do or charge” so this whole process is Robbery. I wouldn’t reconsider Buying, Financing or Leasing Nissans here specifically.& yes, I hope you all do comment and ask to call. Dummies still calling about a 2023 I traded in almost a year ago. They are so pitiful man.
Mar 20, 2025 · Mark FisherUpon going into Nissan (Banister), their staff were professional as well as friendly. I received assistance within a minute of walking inside. When I was directed to the rental department, I was warmly greeted by Serenity and Que. Both women were exceptional, and knew a great deal about there craft. However, I would like to thank Serenity for assisting me, from the moment I first called throughout my whole experience with the rental process. Thank-you ladies, greatly appreciative of your work and help. I'd definitely recommend people to see Serenity and Que (and sorry if I'm misspelling your name 'Q').
