If I could leave zero stars, I would.I made a reservation with Budget on 6/3 for a moving truck scheduled for pickup on 6/6 at 7am. On 6/5 at 8am, I received a call from a manager informing me that the location had overbooked and didn’t actually have any trucks available—even though my reservation had been confirmed. I asked if I could pick up a truck from another location, and was told there were no other options. He was simply only calling to cancel my reservation - no alternatives, less than 24 hours before I needed the truck.Because of their last-minute cancellation, I had to scramble to rent from another company. Now, on 6/9, my card is being charged a cancellation fee. I called the location and spoke with Dusty, who was completely nonchalant and unhelpful. He told me to call another number to deal with billing and didn’t acknowledge any mistake on their part—no apology, no accountability, nothing.To make matters worse, I even received a “pickup reminder” email after they supposedly canceled the reservation, which proves they never actually followed through on their end.It’s unacceptable that Budget expects customers to cancel at least 48 hours in advance to avoid fees, but when they cancel less than 24 hours before pickup, we’re still charged. No solution.

We rented a minivan from Budget June 21-June 29 from Den to SLC (one way). Getting the van was an issue, as it didn't seem like anyone there could give us the same answer, but did finally get it done. Before dropping it off we swung by a car wash to clean it out as we usually do, with 7 people trash gets under seats and we like to ensure we don't insure extra charges for cleaning. Drop off was very easy at SLC and staff was kind and gave us our space to unload unlike at other airports we have encountered.We got him expecting to be charged around $1400 for the rental plus a refueling charge at $3.14 a gallon, the van has a quarter tank when we dropped it off and we had agreed to that term. We were shocked when we got an alert from our bank that our account was charged over $2800 by Budget. So I called customer service. The first person I spoke with refused to explain any charges. She said that the car hadn't been returned yet (it was July 2nd by now) and that the only charges she knew to tell me were the one way fee, which was included in the original contract I had, and the refueling, which was $59.32, so that didn't add up. I tried to explain this, but she wouldn't listen. I asked for someone else, this person, a "supervisor" again would not explain the added $1400 in charges, so I asked to speak to his supervisor. I got a man named Blessing, who also could not explain the extra $1400 in charges we had been charged. He said that he would issue a refund and to expect it in 3-5 business days (which would be by July 10) and gave me a case/reference number. Lo and behold it is July 11 and no refund still. So I called yesterday at lunch( on my break from work) and I was told by a customer service representative that the 3-5 business days was a time for the refund to be approved, not issued. That the refund has not been approved on July 8th and we would have to wait ANOTHER 3-5 business days for our $1400 refund.This is bad business. This isn't a small sum of money, and this isn't how you do business at all. If this was the first time budget had done us wrong, maybe I could understand, but it isn't! The last time we used budget, in 2023 they charged us $830 for a cleaning fee and damages to a vehicle, and I had to send them time stamped photos to prove they were wrong and get a refund issued. That process took 3 weeks! Once we get our refund I will be reporting them to the BBB, because I am sure if they are doing us this way they are doing others this way.Thanks to budget we are having to dip into savings to pay bills because they virtually stole from us. This is absolutely ridiculous. Also, this is day three and no refund has been issued yet, so we won't see that money until next week, if then. I don't have any faith in them right now.Check your bill/receipt when you get done with the vehicle! And ALWAYS! ALWAYS! Take photos with a time stamp before and after you use the vehicle. Inside and out top to bottom.

I prepaid for a rental using my Debit card. Corporate office told me over the phone that in order to use my debit card, there would be a $250 deposit. Nothing was said about running a credit check. When I showed up to pick up my rental on 4/15/2025, they said they couldn't rent to me because my credit score was below 670. Nobody asked my permission to run a credit check, and the staff was very rude about it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Was placed in a vehicle that was shaking and got much worse as we drove it. Had to turn it in at a different location due to the problem only to find that the vehicle wasn’t even in the inventory. Our paperwork was for a totally different vehicle. Shady practices by Jeremy at Murfreesboro TN location. The guy that helped us get into another car in Winterhaven Fl was great, even though it took almost two hours to straighten out the mess. He was stuck with a car he couldn’t do anything with. We should have never been placed in that car. I’ve reached out to customer service expecting a refund for everyday we were in that shoddy car. They have given some refund but in my opinion not enough. Jeremy needs to be fired and Budget lost a customer.
