The flexibility and freedom that a rental car offers are indispensable for life in Oklahoma. We'll cover its strategic placement within the airport, the types of services and vehicles you can typically expect, and highlight important considerations drawn from actual customer experiences. By understanding these aspects from a local's perspective, you can make a more informed decision and prepare for a smoother rental process.
By the end of this article, you should have a solid grasp of what Budget Car Rental at OKC offers, helping you navigate your next airport car rental with confidence and ease, ensuring your time in Oklahoma is as seamless as possible.
The Budget Car Rental branch at 5201 S Meridian Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73119, USA, is strategically located at Will Rogers World Airport (OKC). This means it is part of the airport's consolidated rental car facility, offering direct and convenient access for air travelers.
While not directly inside the main terminal building, Budget's counter is typically found within the airport's Rental Car Center. To reach it, passengers arriving at OKC will follow clear signage directing them to the free shuttle bus service. These dedicated shuttles run continuously between the airport terminal and the consolidated Rental Car Center, which houses Budget and other major rental agencies. This shuttle service operates 24 hours a day, ensuring that customers can access their reserved vehicles regardless of their flight arrival or departure times, whether it's late at night or early in the morning.
For Oklahomans driving to the airport to pick up a rental or to drop off their personal vehicle, the Meridian Avenue address is straightforward to locate. Will Rogers World Airport is well-connected to major Oklahoma City arteries, including I-44 and I-40, making the drive to the Rental Car Center relatively simple from various parts of the metro area. The centralized nature of the facility means you only need to go to one location for all major rental companies.
The advantage of an on-airport location like this is the seamless transition from air travel to ground transportation, eliminating the need for separate taxi or rideshare services to off-site rental agencies. This convenience is a major benefit for both frequent business travelers and families on vacation.
Budget Car Rental, as a globally recognized brand, offers a wide range of services and vehicle options to accommodate various customer needs. At their Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) location, you can generally expect the following:

It is always recommended to check your personal auto insurance policy for existing coverage before purchasing additional protection.
- Online Booking and Mobile App: The convenience of reserving your vehicle in advance through their website or mobile application, which can help streamline the pick-up process.
- 24/7 Shuttle Service: As part of the airport's consolidated facility, a continuous, free shuttle service runs between the terminal and the rental car center, ensuring accessibility at all hours.
The Budget Car Rental location at OKC Will Rogers World Airport, like any busy airport branch, presents a mix of features and challenges, as reflected in customer feedback:
- Airport Convenience: The primary highlight is its location directly at Will Rogers World Airport. This means immediate access to rental vehicles upon arrival via a dedicated shuttle, saving travelers time and the hassle of off-airport transportation.
- Brand Recognition and Network: As a large, international brand, Budget offers the advantage of a wide network of locations and standardized processes, which can be reassuring for many travelers.
- Potential for Competitive Pricing: As part of a competitive airport environment, Budget often has promotions or competitive rates, especially when booked in advance.
However, it is critical to acknowledge the significant challenges and negative experiences reported by customers. These provide crucial insights for local Oklahomans considering this branch:
- Vehicle Maintenance and Safety Concerns: A major issue highlighted by a customer (Andrew) was being issued a minivan with "two front tires in absolutely terrible condition. Completely bald, no tread, signs of the tires getting ready to shred." This raises serious safety concerns and indicates a potential lapse in pre-rental vehicle inspection and maintenance, which is unacceptable for any rental company.
- Inventory Shortages: Andrew's experience also points to a critical issue of "zero inventory left of a similar vehicle to replace it with" after a safety-compromised vehicle was issued. This lack of available replacements for essential vehicle types (like a minivan for a family trip) can severely impact travel plans and cause significant inconvenience.
- Poor Customer Service at Counter: Another review details a highly negative experience with a counter employee who "dismissively" refused to honor a reservation made the "day before" (even though it was made two days prior). This employee reportedly showed no willingness to help, simply stating "Nope!" despite hearing other Budget employees attempting to find alternative solutions (like an electric car or 12-passenger van) for other customers. This highlights a severe lack of empathy, problem-solving, and appreciation for customer loyalty, particularly for those who might be frequent Budget users elsewhere (like the FastBreak service at Denver International Airport).
- Inconsistency in Service Quality: The stark contrast between positive experiences at other Budget locations (e.g., Denver International Airport managers who "always take care of me" and "value their partnership with USAA members") and the negative experience at OKC suggests a significant inconsistency in service quality and customer appreciation at this specific branch.
These issues, particularly concerning vehicle safety and dismissive counter service, are significant drawbacks that potential renters, especially locals, should be aware of. They emphasize the importance of thoroughly inspecting any rental vehicle upon pick-up and being prepared for potential issues with customer service.

Mobile Phone: +1 405-680-1900
It is highly recommended to use these numbers for confirming reservations, inquiring about vehicle availability, or addressing any immediate concerns before or during your rental period. Given some of the feedback, it might be prudent to confirm vehicle type availability and condition if possible prior to arrival, especially for crucial trips.
For Oklahomans, Budget Car Rental at 5201 S Meridian Ave, located within Will Rogers World Airport (OKC), offers the undeniable convenience of on-airport access. This direct link from your flight to your rental car is a major benefit, especially for those with busy travel schedules, early departures, or late arrivals, making it a suitable choice for seamless airport-to-road transitions.
The presence of a well-known brand like Budget within the airport's consolidated rental car facility means a wide variety of vehicle options are generally available, from compact cars ideal for navigating Oklahoma City to larger SUVs or minivans perfect for family trips across our state. This breadth of choice caters to diverse local needs, whether for business, leisure, or temporary vehicle replacement.
However, it is crucial for local users to approach this location with informed awareness, given the significant negative feedback regarding vehicle safety and counter service. While the convenience of an airport location is high, reports of poorly maintained vehicles (like bald tires) and unhelpful staff at the counter are serious concerns. This underscores the importance for locals to thoroughly inspect any vehicle upon pick-up, document its condition (with photos), and be prepared to escalate issues if necessary. It also suggests that loyalty benefits or complex reservations (like those through third-party sites) might not always be handled with the desired level of care at this specific branch.
Despite these challenges, the sheer accessibility and range of vehicles make Budget at OKC a necessary option for many. For Oklahomans, it remains a convenient portal for ground transportation when flying. By managing expectations, being proactive in inspecting vehicles, and understanding the potential for varied service experiences, locals can still utilize this Budget location effectively for their car rental needs, always prioritizing safety and a smooth journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I wanted to provide feedback on a very unfortunate experience I had with Budget rental. My family and I reserved a minivan for 4 days and were issued a vehicle upon arrival, unfortunately the vans two front tires were in absolutely terrible condition. Completely bald, no tread, signs of the tires getting ready to shred - and would have been a serious liability on the safety of my family. (Photos for proof).I ended up canceling the reservation completely, as Budget had zero inventory left of a similar vehicle to replace it with. This ended up impacting our family trip, and needed to be reported.I hope you're able to take this feedback and provide better care and product for your customers.Respectfully,Andrew
Mar 16, 2025 · AndrewSo I make a reservation with Expedia on Sunday 9 March to rent a car at Budget at the Will Rodgers airport. Everything looks good and I fly to Oklahoma City on Monday 10 March. When I get to the counter, the guy in the orange shirt, dismissively, tells me he will not honor the reservation because it was made the 'SAME DAY'. I heard the other Budget employee at the counter helping another customer by asking if he could use an electric car or even a 12 passenger van.I explained that I made the reservation the day before, and he doesn't try to help, just, "Nope!"I do the same thing at the Denver International Airport, I get FASTBREAK service...ANNNNND...and this is a big and...I get an email from the Budget Rental managers thanking me for using Budget and telling me how much they value their partnership their with USAA members. I have called their cell numbers and talked with the managers. They always take care of me. As for the guy in the orange shirt behind the counter, he didn't care about me....AND IT SHOWED...If I could give ZERO STARS I would. 🙄👎👎👎
Mar 15, 2025 · James ReadI flew in March 31, 2025 to visit my son and daughter in law who moved to Mustang , Oklahoma over a year ago. It was my first time in Oklahoma. I had rented through Priceline for a Mid-Size SUV like a Toyota RAV4. It was late in the evening when I arrived and the gentleman that helped me was nice. He even upgraded me to a Volvo XC40 with the panoramic sunroof. It was a nice vehicle with like 1,500 miles on it.Honestly though , my daughter in law has a new RAV4 and we all agreed we like the RAV4 better than this fancy Volvo. Ha ha. I had it for a week and only the last day the weather was nice enough to open the sunroof for a little while , not like when I went to Myrtle Beach in September and had a Mustang Convertible and had the top down for a week because the weather was perfect. Oh well , not Budget's fault. I had a good time in Oklahoma and ate at some great restaurants and went to Ft Sill since I'm a Veteran and wanted to go to the museum.Upon returning , the lady outside was very nice and helpful . The shuttle bus that I took coming in and leaving were both quick for pickup and the driver was also very nice. Great job everyone and I will see you again in a couple months.
May 15, 2025 · Tips From A BellmanFirst of all, I wish I saw the reviews before I rent anything from Budget/Avis. Always used Hertz/Enterprises and should have. Their customer service is worth the extra $.Had to get a truck rental b/c one of Lowe’s employees broke my rear window while loading materials a hit& run occurred in the parking lot. Since lowes pays for repairs / vehicle rental up to certain $ per day. Hertz& enterprises $ weren’t within unless it’s a compact car which isn’t feasible for family of 4+ considering we had a truck to begin with. That’s how we ended up with budget / Avis, it’s within acceptable $ for ins co.The nightmare begins..1) Showed up to pick up the reservation that’s already paid for in full, we were turned away b/c we didn’t have the major card and they do NOT rent to locals without a major card. (We always paid Hertz& enterprises with our debit card without any issues.) it wasn’t even mentioned anywhere on the website or anything about the required major card —see picture where Ben straight up rude and turned us away. So we had to go back home & dig up for my “emergency” major card and came back the next morning.2) We were given a 1500 dodge ram and before we even check out of the parking lot. The oil change light was already on when showing 0% and needs oil change. (see pic) after voicing concerns to two of the employees in the parking lot and one guy at the gate before exiting. They said it’s fine, just forgot to reset it on the monitor but it’s good to go. By 4th day, the engine oil started to smell and it was thickening. Told my dad the concerns we had. He checked the oil. It was THICK and black, sticky. The oil change was way OVERDUE! told us to take it back! We did. —They switched us to a different 1500 dodge Ram. That’s when everything has gone downhill even more.*** with being used to my truck having bed liner where your materials or hitch or bags wouldn’t be able to slide around and scratch up the paint in bed.*** both 1st & 2nd truck didn’t have any bed liner or any kind of protection so our hitch or materials would be sliding back and forth banging. We had small kids so we cannot put them inside the cabin where it can easily break the windows or hazards to the kids to have it inside. (It’s a truck for a reason, not compact car, right?!) instead of letting it ruin the paint or banging around in the back of bed, we put our hitch in the right place where it should be in. Like we did the 1st truck with bad oil. (Bad idea!)3) This AM, we are ready to head to work, the truck wouldnt unlock, wouldn’t start, clicking or even do anything. We called budget /Avis 24/7 assistance and asked them if we should jump the truck and see if can get it to start ***(That’s the ONLY time we have nice thing to say about them, is the 24/7 emergency dept)*** they told us not to do anything and they would send the towing truck to pick it up and they had another truck available & ready (3rd one!) we just need to come out and pick it up. The towing came by impressively fast after the phone call with Avis 24/7. The tow driver struggled to get the truck to start. Tried to jump it and had no luck so had to manually move it himself so he can put it onto his towing truck.4) tonight while checking in with Antoine to get exchanged truck, gave the confirmation# provided by Avis 24/7. We asked if we could get our stuff back including hitch. Antoine cracked up uncontrollably & called Ben, the manager. Ben abandoned his customers & came up to us saying they can’t give us the 3rd truck b/c we violated the agreement contract by damaging the 2nd truck from towing/pulling around. Antoine couldn’t control himself he had to go in different room. After realizing the truck was towed away and we didn’t get chance to recover our stuff back, tried to make it right by releasing the 3rd truck to us. You guys are pathetically cowards for oppressing and humiliating us with your accusations.-Owner(s): don’t even bother us with your copy and paste apologizing with #848374 The damages are already done. We wont be back ever again.
Nov 21, 2024 · YaknisterIncredibly slow service to start with. Took an hour and a half to work through a relatively short line, then after we returned the car we found out they added the damage waiver of $40/day after we specifically said we didn’t need it. When I called Budget Customer Service they said “we see you signed the rental contract.” Of course we signed the contract; what we didn’t do is read that we agreed to the $40/day because it wasn’t on the screen they had us sign. Steer clear and book Enterprise instead which is right next to them and could actually get a person assigned to their car under 10 minutes and didn’t have a line because of it.
