The Budget employee on 5/4/25 was very helpful. A bit too helpful. She added insurance with out my permission then, sold me on the toll package because I told her I was going to the Everglades. (I haven't been able to get a refund on the $40 insurance I didn't agree to.) After adding up the tolls, it equated to less than $10. This place preys on tourists and overcharges them. My estimation is $10 per day in tolls if you drive a lot. Make sure you read the fine print and don't initial anything you didn't sign up for. Also, in your driving app, select no toll roads and you'll maybe add up to 20 minutes to your destination. This employee is defrauding people by adding insurance you didn't sign up for and scaring you into buying the toll package. Be aware!

The van driver and employees at the office were all great. The car I was given was great. But 45 minute wait at the cruise port for the shuttle only to be only able to take 2 of our group of 6 so we had to drive back to the port to pick them up was terrible. Added to the fact that the line at the office took an hour. Over 2 hours of our “rental time” was just securing cars and grabbing group. The employees were the only saving grace.

Absolutely horrible. This was my worst rental experience and we’ve rented a LOT. The shuttle is supposed to run every 20-30 minutes when a ship is in port. My family of 6 waited at the pickup spot for almost two hours. You only get a recording when you call. The shuttle service is supposed to be included with your car reservation as you are charged for this service. We eventually ubered to the car rental location. I asked why they weren’t running the shuttle and the lady repeatedly argued with me and told me I didn’t see it. That is not true- it wasn’t running. They need to check on their driver bc he was not at the port and port authority confirmed that they hadn’t seen budget or Avis shuttles at all. I stood at the very front of the pickup so I couldn’t miss it. Only the one ship was in port so it wasn’t overly busy. The shuttle was parked in the parking lot when we arrived at budget. I don’t know if they have multiple but if so, it certainly wasn’t at port.Anyways after finally getting to the rental agency, they gave us a mini van that hadn’t been cleaned. It had chewed gum in the cup holders, Vaseline in the door and a half full tank. The outside was dented and dinged and the electric door on the driver side didn’t work. Parts were actually falling out of the electric door.I told the guys working there and they told me just to take pictures which I did.We refilled the tank upon return to 3/4 full (remember it was half empty) but were still charged upon return since it wasn’t a full tank. I did stand in line, then waited for a manager who was great and they refunded the gas as well as the shuttle charge but so much of our vacation was spent dealing with Budget and Avis and wasting time.I will never go through them again and in the future I would avoid using this car rental. There are plenty of other agencies that have shuttles to the port.

Due to a snafu in vehicle pickup location in Miami, we found ourselves at this downtown rental office. While the place is in much need of some serious updating (including the dot matrix printers which printed documents we couldn't read), Sasha was a HUGE help in getting us the two vehicles we wanted. She was pleasant and easy to work with and is a true asset to that office's location. Thank you again, Sasha!

I feel this because the only way it could have been worse is to not have got service at all. Somehow my day probably would have gone better. It is absolutely absurd to believe business could be conducted this poorly. Approximately 2 hour wait in line to get service from front desk while my family was forced to wait outside for the duration. Ended having to order 2 Ubers to get from port to rental office. Stood out where budget told us to for over an hour. It should be pointed out. I do not believe this is a problem so much of the staff on site. It is apparent that budget policies have set them up to fail. And fail their own customers as bad as you can. Completely outdated equipment. Short staff. The typical business model these days. This is what happens when a few major shareholders(Private equity groups/Hedge funds) hold a majority of shares in literally everything that can and will be publicly traded. Yeah free market is great until it gets to this point. It didn't have to be this way and history shows us it will be corrected at some point. Not setup for longevity. Avis/Budget, Do better for what consumers you have left. As for me. You absolutely lost me after that experience. It is my vow. Yes it was that horrendous. I will find another way. I hate this gets a star at all.
