I was so pleasantly surprised with this wonderful rental location. They were nice, efficient, and helpful; it was super convenient and the car pick up couldn’t have been better. To clarify, the one star is not for the location; it is for the rental and Budget’s customer service. The car wouldn’t turn on after the first day of my 9 day rental. On day 2 there were a series of error messages including ‘get vehicle inspected’. Budget towed the car, but I wasn’t able to get a replacement because I was too far from any rental locations. I asked for a refund given I paid for 9 days and only received 1 day of service. After 15 phone calls, 6+ emails, and giving me the run around for over a month, Budget is still challenging my case. Despite photo and video evidence, and the hard fact the car was towed, they have the audacity to claim the goods and services I received were in good condition and I used the car. Moreover, I received additional charges post tow for gas and tolls in states and on routes I never traversed. It seems whatever happened after the defunct car left my possession was charged back to me. I am truly struggling to process how this company treats customers. Forget the incredible inconvenience of not getting the service one paid for and needing to secure last minute alternate transportation for 8 days, but that they are being difficult with the refund is hard to comprehend. It is also disappointing because I was so pleased to find this rental location and was planning to use it frequently. @Budget please do the right thing and refund me. Also, please instate a better inspection process so that defective cars are not rented out. I am lucky something worse didn’t happen when I was behind the wheel of that rental.

I would absolutely leave less stars if possible. This location is what I would consider the bottom of the barrel and in desperate need of customer service training.According to Budget, rental reservations are held for 24hrs. So why is it that this location is selective about the hour time frame they hold cars for? And why is it not documented somewhere?I arrived around three hours late to pick up my rental (I rent from budget regularly all over the country, this is not late). I walk in and there are two people behind the counter and two potential customers. Both people behind the counter are dressed sloppily and don’t look like they want to help anyone (one in a black tee and ripped jeans, the other lounged back with his feet up).After Harris (the senior employee) looks up my name he rudely tells me I am late like I can’t tell time. He then tells me with no remorse or explanation that they don’t have any cars. When I mentioned that I prepaid he says their location doesn’t do that and I’m not charged until they swipe my car. I was told the remaining cars were for reservations later that afternoon and the first car coming back would be at 2:30 (mind you it’s noon in the middle of no where). I then challenge that lack of logic. Well if you have a car coming back at 2:30 wouldn’t that go to a later reservation instead of making me wait. He claims that can’t be done as the last reservation is at 2:30. Again common sense isn’t common and this man is a clear example.As I wait for someone else to miss their hour windows I noticed Harris willingness to assist those of a lighter hue. The woman after me was equally as late for her 10:30 pick up (I have the evidence she allowed to get to prove it) but they let her get a car as of 1:00pm claiming her reservation was for 12 despite the confirmation she had stating otherwise. Seems like an unfair application of the “rules”Anyway zero stars across the board.

BEWARE: Budget Car Rental, at this location, charged me nearly $400.00 for a 2 day rental, that, according to the Rep who "helped" me, when I picked the vehicle up, should have cost $138! After being OVERCHARGED, they fraudulently charged me an additional $100, 9 days later, for FRAUDULENT tolls through the Holland Tunnel and NJ, when I only went to Tarrytown NY and back to the North Bronx. I have put in a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have placed the charges, under investigation with my credit card company. NEVER AGAIN, will I EVER rent from "BUDGET" Car Rental -- which ended up being literal HIGHWAY ROBBERY-- nor, will I ever offer this location my business and will warn others of their fraudulent practices! DO NOT make the mistake of waiting for an email receipt -- get a receipt BEFORE you leave the premises and examine EVERY CHARGE, THOROUGHLY!

I made a reservation on 4/2/25 for 4/19/25 at 300pm for around $85. On 4/19/25 at 100pm, Budget New Rochelle called saying they dont have any cars available and to call customer service. I called customer service and all the cars were booked out in the area and that the closest rental was in LGA for $155. The customer service could not do anything else for me and would not adjust due the pricing to thier fault. I am very dissapointed in this company and they left me stranded in the last minute when I needed the car.

Easy pickup. Easy drop off. They lost a star because I asked for help finding the car and was just told “ it’s a white car on the first floor can’t miss it.” There were 4 other white cars on the first floor. One was even parked right next to it. I don’t drive very often so I’m not car savvy. I would’ve appreciated the help especially since no other customer was there.
