We arrived at the Budget counter at Fort Lauderdale Airport around 1:30 AM, tired from a long flight with kids who were already exhausted and crying. Despite only 4 customers ahead of us, it took 30 minutes to reach the front, there were 3 staff members working, but the service was painfully slow.When it was finally our turn, the front desk agent was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Instead of making the process smooth and quick (especially considering the late hour and tired travelers), he dragged the conversation with irrelevant and slow questions, acting like he had all the time in the world.When we asked to add an additional driver, he said it was done, only for him to suddenly realize 20 minutes later that he completely forgot to add it. Instead of quickly correcting it, he restarted the process and, bizarrely, started asking for marital status of the additional driver and even asked for a marriage certificate or a wedding ring as proof. Completely unnecessary and ridiculous.After almost an hour of this nonsense, we finally got our car around 2:30 AM. But the nightmare didn’t end there. Once we left the airport, we noticed the car had severe shaking issues, likely a tire alignment or balancing problem. We called Budget support and were told to go to a nearby Budget location in the morning.When we visited a Budget branch about an hour away, they had no cars available and told us to drive all the way back to the airport, wasting even more of our time. After driving another 2-3 hours, we finally got a replacement car.Overall, this was a total disaster: poor service, bad cars, and complete lack of care for customers’ time and experience. Zero stars if I could give them.Hopefully, the front desk agent finds a job better suited to his abilities, because customer service is clearly not it.

That’s not all! I paid for my reservation online through Booking. Budget would not honor my paid for reservation because it was made in Argentina. I was on a cruise ship in Buenos Aires when I made the reservation! Oh, but they helped me. They happily rented me a car for a much higher price. Luckily, Booking refunded my money. All said, the price was reasonable and the car was clean. Still, next time I’ll use a different company. This event soured me on Budget.

When I got to the counter to get the car, the rep said they are short 4 midsize vehicles. So I patiently waited. Second of all, they rented to me a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe with over 44,000 miles 😱. I would have asked for something else 💯 but they had nothing else. ✨Of course the car came soaking wet on the outside and completely disgusting on the inside.✨ After having the car for 5 days, the tire light came on. However, when I got the car, the tire pressure was already low but not low enough for the light to be on. I used to trust Budget enough to put my 4 year old son and I in a safe, clean, drivable car and that they wouldn’t rent a lemon to a customer. As soon as the tire light came on, I tried calling but of course they don’t have a direct phone number. I drove the car back to FLL and swapped it out for a 2025 Mazda CX 50 with only 4,000 miles on it. Today, I received an email that they are going to bill my credit card for $90 because of the tire needing repair. I need to see a service history or record for this vehicle. That was completely absurd. I’m not renting from this Budget location, or any Budget location again. My Fast Break membership can go right in the garage 🗑️

They held us on flight for 30 mins because no one was there to tow the last plane out of our station spot. BUT my thing is budget yall know how many reservations yall have. All the reviews say the same. This is the only 24 hour rental spot showing open for red eye flights. But with staying on flight extra 30 mins just sitting there at 1:30 with lights on on the plane, to literally standing here just watching this one guy boop the reservations wall people out their cars and then come grab next customer- there’s 15 customers standing here. CHOOSE ANOTHER OPTON or may just be this airport after hours. Horrible experience. Horrible service. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. And I’m sitting here still pondering my head around what could have made this process easier, smoother, more Efficient. I thought I’d be in REM sleep 2 hrs ago refreshed and ready for my 9am workshop. I’ve been here for an hour and two people have been helped. I’m just going to uber to air b n b n Uber my trip while I’m here. Cheaper anyway. Very disappointed budget. And I had full trip insurance e do ima need that full cancellation + refund please .
