CTN - Community Transportation Network Introduce
For many individuals in Fort Wayne and the wider Allen County area, reliable transportation is a crucial link to maintaining independence, accessing essential services, and remaining connected to the Indiana community. When standard car rental or public transit options fall short of meeting specialized mobility needs, the Community Transportation Network (CTN) steps in to fill this critical gap.
CTN is not a conventional "car rental" agency; rather, it is a dedicated Non-profit organization offering specialized Handicapped transportation service and a general Transportation service. Its entire mission is centered on easing the burden of transportation for some of the community’s most vulnerable populations: seniors (aged 60 and older) and individuals with disabilities. For over two decades, CTN has been a key component of the local support infrastructure, providing dependable, door-through-door assistance that standard vehicles cannot offer.
The tone of CTN's service, as reflected in numerous customer testimonials, is one of deep care, professionalism, and kindness. Drivers are frequently praised for being considerate, personable, and patient, often waiting through longer-than-expected medical appointments to ensure the client’s round trip is complete. This emphasis on compassionate service sets it apart from traditional for-profit transportation providers.
The goal of CTN goes beyond just offering a ride; it is about providing freedom, independence, and the ability to access life-sustaining and purposeful connections throughout the community, be it for a medical trip, a therapy appointment, or grocery shopping.
CTN’s administrative and operations center is centrally located in Fort Wayne, providing a hub for its community-wide transportation services across Allen County, Indiana. The facility is easy to locate for those needing to visit the office.
The main address is:
5601 Industrial Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, USA
In keeping with its mission to serve individuals with mobility challenges, the CTN facility is equipped with necessary accessibility features. For individuals visiting the office for registration or inquiries, the following is provided:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
The location also includes a Restroom amenity. While the physical address is key for administrative purposes, CTN's service is primarily delivered across Allen County, where their fleet of lift-equipped vans and vehicles actively transports riders directly from their homes to their destinations.
CTN offers a comprehensive suite of transportation solutions specifically designed for seniors and individuals with physical or developmental disabilities who require more than a standard taxi or ride-share service. Their services are specialized and tailored to accommodate various levels of mobility needs.
Key services include:
- Medical Transportation and Medical Trips for doctor appointments, hospital visits, and necessary Medical Care.
- Therapy Appointments transportation to ensure continuity of care.
- Door Ride Service and specialized transportation which involves door-through-door, arm-in-arm assistance from the driver, ensuring the rider is safe until they are successfully inside their destination.
- Accommodation for diverse mobility aids, including specialized Bariatric Wheelchair transportation for heavier or wider mobility devices.
- Group Trips and transportation services coordinated with over 80 other local non-profit agencies to help their clients access programs.
- Transportation for personal trips such as errands, grocery runs, and other Home Services for eligible riders.
- Subscription-based services and Engineering Services (which in this context refers to managing and coordinating complex transportation logistics) for clients of nonprofit agencies serving children and families with low incomes.
CTN vehicles are lift-equipped and secure wheelchairs using a 4-point system, offering a level of safety and accommodation that goes far beyond general public transportation.
The true value of the Community Transportation Network lies in its commitment to specialized care and its foundation as a non-profit organization.
- Specialized and Compassionate Assistance: Drivers provide "hand-in-hand" passenger assistance, ensuring a reliable and dignified experience from the moment they arrive until the client is safely inside. This level of personal attention is highly valued by riders.
- Accommodation for Bariatric Needs: The ability to transport users with Bariatric Wheelchairs is a crucial, specialized feature that addresses a significant mobility gap in the community.
- Non-Profit, Mission-Driven Service: Operating as a non-profit, CTN is driven by its mission rather than profit. This funding structure, supported by donations and grants, allows them to keep trip costs significantly lower for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities compared to the actual cost of providing the service.
- Wide Service Area: The network covers the entirety of Allen County, ensuring that residents across Fort Wayne and its surrounding towns have access to essential transportation.
- Flexible Fee Structure: Fees for eligible riders (seniors 60+ and individuals with disabilities) are often discounted based on income and frequency of trips, utilizing a sliding scale to make the service financially accessible. Medicaid payments are also accepted for certain rides.
- Safety and Reliability: The organization runs a large fleet of lift-equipped vehicles and operates six days a week, Monday through Saturday, for reliable transportation, with office hours from Monday through Friday for scheduling needs.
Indiana residents who are seniors or individuals with disabilities and wish to register, request a ride, or obtain more information about eligibility and fees can contact CTN directly. It is important to note that CTN requires trips to be scheduled in advance, often recommending a call at least 5 business days ahead, as they are not an emergency or on-demand taxi service.

For eligible users in the Indiana region of Allen County, CTN is arguably the superior choice over conventional transportation for non-emergency, medical, or life-essential trips due to its highly specialized nature and compassionate foundation.
The most compelling reason to choose CTN is the unique combination of specialized vehicle equipment and personal driver assistance. Standard ride-share or taxi services may not have lift-equipped vans, the appropriate securement systems, or drivers trained to provide the required "door-through-door" assistance, especially for individuals using wheelchairs or rollators. The reviews consistently praise the professional and friendly drivers, highlighting their patience and willingness to accommodate unexpected delays during appointments. This personal consideration drastically reduces stress for the rider and their family.
Furthermore, as a non-profit organization, the fees are structured to be affordable and sometimes heavily subsidized by donations and grants, directly addressing the transportation barrier for low-income households. While other non-emergency medical transport exists, CTN’s breadth of service—from basic medical appointments to specialized Bariatric needs—makes it a cornerstone of accessible travel in Fort Wayne. For seniors and people with disabilities, choosing CTN is choosing a service built entirely around their specific needs, aiming for comfort, safety, and dignity in every single trip.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1What can I say... always on time, fair price, reliable vehicles, personal/ professional/ friendly drivers. They have many types of vehicles for people with handicap needs (wheelchair, rollators, etc).04/03/2025- The care and concern by this fleet of drivers is amazing! On this one (round) trip they patiently waited as our appointment with the doctor lasted about 45 minutes longer than expected. The driver patiently waited for appointment to finish and offered considerations for an unexpected stop to pick up prescriptions on the way home (which was on the way in already ordered).
Apr 05, 2025 · Aaron WilsonThis week was my first time, using CTN. I'm impressed, the drivers are kind and considerate and personable. I really appreciate this company, they have made my life a little easier. I will be using CTN again. I pray God blesses each driver for their kindness. ❤️❤️
Jul 11, 2025 · Arlecia WhiteI've had the pleasure of riding with CTN when I need help with transportation, and I can't say enough good things about my experience with everyone I've dealt with! The gentleman who answers the phones when I call for rides is patient, professional, and friendly! Every driver I have had (lately, it's a lot lol!) is willing to go the extra mile and lend a hand. They are caring and kind people, which is sadly quite hard to find these days. Every visit is on time, and even the pick-ups, I have zero complaints! They never leave a ruder behind. They are an excellent company that provides much needed transportation for those in need. Thank you CTN for the great services you all work together to provide others like me with!
Apr 17, 2025 · Michele Jean ScherpenisseWe have a driver who comes thru our alley way like it’s the Indy 500. We’ve made 2 attempts at calling their company to voice our concerns. We hope that this will fix that issue. I only gave a star because it won’t let me post it with out a star, but my opinion is no Star should be given. Their driver for van #27 is reckless and doesn’t care how he drives in our alley way and we have a ton of children who live here in this area. I will be posting a video of how reckless this driver is.
Jul 02, 2025 · Samantha KeahiCompletely unprofessional business. I called in to report a driver that cut me off very recklessly in traffic, nearly resulting in an accident, and I was hung up on by the operator after describing this interaction.
