I will say both that I purchased the initial rental via points and that due to that I have zero belief that Dollar will implement any of these suggestions or do much more with them then chuck them in the circular file, but I have to try...- Adding a driver --> At reservation, I was not given the choice to add a driver, so I had to do so at the rental counter. This added over $300 to my bill. I knew that there would be additions, but would recommend that you add this to the experience at rental so that you look less shady.- Surprise fees --> Unlike the adding the driver issue, I'm still sitting on reporting this to the FTC, the consumer welfare agencies of KY and MD (if any), or to a plaintiff's attorney that might listen. My rental was for a pick up in Louisville, KY and a return in Baltimore, MD. I understand the additional costs for adding a driver. But Dollar *KNEW* in advance that I was picking up and returning to different states. The over $400 in "interstate exchange" fees was extortionate, rent-seeking behavior. Further, Dollar could have charged these fees at the time I made my reservation, but chose not to. This is plain old hide the ball in action and is not okay.- Vehicle cleanliness --> I realize that when I'm making a rental with a pickup and return at different locations that I'm going to get the crappiest vehicle on your lot and I'm resigned to that. However, would it kill you to at least wash the vehicle's exterior and vacuum it's inside? Finding the receipt from the previous renter only confirmed that the work had not even been done.Two stars only because the customer service agent at the counter was incredibly capable and an excellent communicator, if incredibly impotent in their ability to make actual experience-improving changes.

The second time the lady said I had to pay for this and that then after getting someone else to pay for it she smiled and said "oh you already prepaid and paid for the prepaid gas. So you only have to have the 200 card hold" I had said before hand that I already prepaid for it but she said no I didn't I have to pay for it. This third time I did a Google search and looked thru the whole website and saw nothing about not taking chime credit cards. Got there she said the same thing I didn't prepaid, even tho I did. But she won't take the shine credit card. Never using this company again.

I completed all documents/contracts online and found my car without even talking to anyone. All I had to do was hand the guy my ticket on the way out so he could open the gate. Super simple. I returned it in the same way, no contact with anyone. This airport has a great rental car setup. Very easy in and out. I’ll keep renting from Dollar.

When my pickup time approached, I went to Dollar rental car where Discovercars.com made the agreement and was told I could not pick up my car. Vladimir at the counter said that too many events were going on in my area for him to let me get a car and the car was needed for the next morning. He said that maybe I could come back the next day at around noon and he could help me but, that was past the point of when I needed it. I left and immediately emailed customer service, it took a few days to get a reply but, when I did, they said that I was a no show and could not get a refund. So, Dollar rental car lied and said I never showed up and because they didn't write it down for me and I didn't take any pictures??? they cannot honor a refund. I went to Enterprise and was able to rent the car but, at a much higher rate but had no issues with too many events going on in my area. I will NOT do business with discovercars.com or Dollar rental car again as I will not be made to be a liar
