Enterprise Rent-A-Car Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents of Virginia, particularly in the Fredericksburg area, the need for a rental car can arise from various circumstances – a planned road trip, a temporary vehicle while your car is in the shop, or perhaps accommodating visitors. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a globally recognized name in the vehicle rental industry, known for its widespread presence and diverse fleet. The Fredericksburg branch located at 4601 Lassen Ln is one of several Enterprise locations in the region, aiming to serve the local community's transportation needs.
Enterprise typically offers a wide array of vehicles, from compact cars ideal for city driving to larger SUVs and vans suitable for family vacations or moving purposes. Their services generally cater to both short-term rentals for leisure or immediate needs, and longer-term solutions for insurance replacements or extended projects. The brand often highlights its commitment to customer service, aiming to provide a seamless rental experience. However, as with any service provider, individual experiences can vary greatly, and it is important for local users to consider all aspects of potential service when making their choice, including both positive testimonials and critical feedback to form a complete picture of what to expect from this specific branch.
Location and Accessibility
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch at 4601 Lassen Ln, Fredericksburg, VA 22408, USA, benefits from a location designed for relatively easy access for many residents in the greater Fredericksburg area. Situated in a commercial zone, it's typically accessible from major local arteries. This particular location is often referred to as the "Fredericksburg Four Mile Fork" branch, indicating its position in a well-trafficked commercial area that serves various parts of Fredericksburg and potentially neighboring communities in Spotsylvania and Stafford counties.
Proximity to routes like Plank Road (Route 3) and Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1) makes it reachable for those driving from different directions. While accessibility within a commercial hub can be convenient for many, customers should consider potential traffic during peak hours, which is common in busy areas of Virginia. Enterprise locations often provide a shuttle service for local pick-ups, which can enhance accessibility for customers who need to get to the branch. Checking the specific operating hours and after-hours return policies for this precise location is advisable for planning purposes, as some branches may have differing rules.
Services Offered
- Standard Car Rentals: A wide range of vehicles is typically available, including economy cars, compact cars, mid-size sedans, full-size sedans, SUVs, minivans, and trucks. This allows customers to choose a vehicle that best suits their travel needs, whether for daily commuting, weekend trips, or special occasions.
- Long-Term Rentals and Leasing: Enterprise offers flexible options for extended rental periods, which can be beneficial for individuals needing a vehicle for weeks or months, such as during long-term car repairs or for business projects.
- Insurance Replacement Rentals: A significant portion of Enterprise's business involves providing replacement vehicles for customers whose cars are undergoing repairs after an accident or breakdown. They often work directly with insurance companies to facilitate this process, aiming to make it smoother for the customer.
- Commercial Truck and Van Rentals: While this specific address is listed for car rentals, Enterprise also operates a separate truck rental division which may share or be near this location, offering larger vehicles for moving or commercial purposes.
- One-Way Rentals: The option to pick up a vehicle at one location and return it to another Enterprise branch, ideal for inter-city or inter-state travel. However, as one review suggests, the availability of one-way rentals can sometimes fluctuate or be limited, so confirming this service for specific routes is crucial.
- Damage Waiver (DW) and Protection Plans: Enterprise offers various protection products, including DW, which can waive or reduce the renter's responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle. These are optional and customers are encouraged to review their existing insurance policies or credit card benefits before purchasing.
- Refueling Options: Customers generally have choices regarding fuel, including prepaying for fuel, having Enterprise refuel the car upon return (with a service charge), or refilling the tank themselves before returning.
- Additional Driver Policy: Spouses or domestic partners typically can be added as authorized drivers at no additional charge, provided they meet age and license requirements. Other additional drivers usually incur a daily fee.
- After Hours Service: Some locations offer a key drop-box for after-hours returns, allowing customers to return vehicles outside of regular business hours. It's important to verify if this specific location provides after-hours drop-off and the exact procedures.
Features / Highlights
- Extensive Fleet Variety: Enterprise is well-known for offering a broad selection of vehicles, from fuel-efficient economy cars to spacious SUVs and even luxury models, ensuring a fit for almost any need or preference.
- Widespread Network: As a large national and international company, Enterprise boasts numerous locations, which can be convenient for one-way rentals or finding a branch close by. In Fredericksburg alone, there are multiple Enterprise locations.
- Car Sales Program: Beyond rentals, Enterprise also sells used vehicles from its fleet. As one positive review highlights, "James" at Enterprise helped a customer purchase a car, finding one with a "low down payment" and "in my budget." This indicates a potential benefit for locals looking to buy a reliable used car directly from a rental fleet.
- Customer Service (Variable): While corporate Enterprise aims for high customer service, local experiences can vary. One positive review praises "James" for being "super kind and attentive," helping a customer through a car purchase, which suggests that individual staff members can provide excellent service.
- Potential for Roadside Assistance and Vehicle Condition Concerns: It is important to note a significant concern raised by one customer regarding vehicle condition and roadside assistance. This review describes a highly distressing experience where a family was left stranded on a highway due to a tire blowout on a rental car with "really bad" tire wear, according to a tire shop. The customer also reported extreme difficulty in receiving adequate assistance from Enterprise's roadside service and management, highlighting a critical area where service can fall short, potentially jeopardizing customer safety and incurring unexpected out-of-pocket costs. This suggests that while positive interactions can occur, there are serious considerations regarding pre-rental vehicle inspection and the efficacy of emergency support.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Virginia locals in the Fredericksburg area, Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 4601 Lassen Ln presents a mixed bag of suitability, requiring a careful weighing of its typical advantages against potential significant concerns highlighted by recent customer experiences. On one hand, the general appeal of Enterprise for locals lies in its brand recognition, extensive fleet options, and convenient location within Fredericksburg. For those seeking a standard rental for a planned trip or a temporary car during routine maintenance, the wide variety of vehicles and the ease of booking online or over the phone can be appealing. Furthermore, the availability of a car sales program, as noted by a positive customer experience with "James," offers a unique benefit for locals looking to purchase a reliable used vehicle with favorable terms.
However, it is crucial for locals to consider the very serious issues raised in a detailed negative review, which describes a family left stranded on a major highway due to a faulty rental vehicle and what was described as utterly inadequate roadside assistance and customer service. This account highlights potential risks related to vehicle safety, pre-rental inspections, and the responsiveness of emergency support, which are paramount concerns for any renter, especially when embarking on longer journeys with family. The customer's experience of paying "out of pocket over $500 for the tow tires and fees" due to Enterprise's alleged failure to provide timely assistance is a critical warning. While Enterprise aims to provide broad coverage and support, this specific incident suggests that locals should exercise heightened caution and perhaps conduct their own thorough vehicle checks before departing the lot.
In conclusion, while Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Fredericksburg offers convenience and a diverse selection of vehicles that might suit various needs for locals, potential renters should be acutely aware of the importance of verifying vehicle condition and understanding the nuances of their roadside assistance and support policies. For short, local trips, it might be a suitable option, especially given positive individual interactions and the added benefit of car sales. However, for long-distance travel or situations where reliable emergency support is non-negotiable, locals are strongly advised to consider all aspects of the provided information and potentially explore alternative services to ensure their safety and peace of mind on Virginia's roads.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1**Danger long but worth the read could save your life Enterprise left my family & I stranded on a major highway we even had to pay out of pocket for a tow and two new tires for the rental car **If I could give 0 starts I would. We rented a car from this location this past weekend to go on A 9hr road trip, a hour and half away on the road warning signs started to pop up on the display but wouldn’t say what the issue was. We also noticed an issue with the door but bc we were already on the road and it was closed we decided to continue the trip we will just tell them upon returning the car.On our way back home one of the tires blew out and we were stuck on I-85 I called the location advising what happened and pleading for help they said they couldn’t do anything I have to speak with roadside and transferred me. Roadside picked up and asks was I safe ? I explained the tire blew and we are stuck on the side of the highway. He says there’s nothing we can do call 911 and hung up. I called 911 advised what was going on and called Enterprise back. They proceed to do the same process I explained what happened again they say there’s nothing we can do after being hung up on three times by both roadside and Enterprise I called and asked for a manager. Now by this time Vdot pulled up to try and shield us from traffic and a state trooper came .I asked for a manager at enterprise finally got one and explained he said he couldn’t do anything bc roadside would need to speak directly to me so they can verify me I advised instead of transferring me can’t he stay on the line I verify and he assist bc when I asked for a manager at roadside I was told my manger has the same system as me and will tell you the same thing and was hung up on. After that he finally called in three way I tried multiple times to give enterprise our location and details to help them fine us as requested and was told they can’t locate me I even asked if Enterprise had trackers on the car and they said no.The state trooper got on the phone told him how serious this was and they told him they would send a tow truck in an “1hr one person can get in the truck and get it towed to the nearest place while the other three(myself ,my 15 year old daughter & 5 year old son) can wait on the side of the highway for that person (my husband) to come back” the Trooper said absolutely not . They need to make better arrangements to have another car come so we can all come they said fine. We waited the hour and called back bc no one came and was told the company the reached out to doesn’t do this area so it was cxl and they told Enterprise to call us and let us know so they can do a new work order. After going back and forth with Enterprise the trooper said he reached out to dispatch the found a tow company who was able to take us to a tire shop to get it repaired. They were able to find us no problem and it took 15 min to get to the shop and have both tires replaced. When we were at the shop they said their was no way they should have let us take the car off the lot it was really bad with the wear .And because Enterprise and roadside assistance didn’t send the help we had to pay out of pocket over $500 for the tow tires and fees. We were an 1:30 min from home and ended up being stuck on the side of the road for over 5hours during rush hour traffic and night approaching. We have video recording the whole problem and of ALL the calls and poor service we received and witness saying they put our lives at danger . Not one person tried to assist or take accountability. It was a struggle to get our family home safely. I’m still waiting on management to contact me. I even went to the location twice to get this matter resolved . The whole process could have been handled so much better . They even had a shuttle service available to them and never thought to use this to get their customers safe and then work everything else out later. I will be sharing ALL OF IT EVERYWHERE AS A WARNING TO OTHERS. If you can use Toro or a different service.
Mar 18, 2025 · The Talley'sI'm so blessed God guiding me on looking into Enterprise, I wasn't aware that they sold cars. James was the person who helped me and I'm blessed he did he is super kind and attentive he heard all my concerns and wants. James was able to get me a car with a low down payment in my budget and just what I asked he gave me a couple of options to choose from and I found my car thank you so much! Will be coming back and I already sent someone your way! Thank you again for helping me 😁
Jul 15, 2025 · Maria EchevarriaI had an insurance claim, pick up and service was good.Quick and good customer service, good selection of cars.
Jul 07, 2025 · Joe G.I’m giving this location two stars solely because of the excellent customer service I received from Courtney—she was professional, helpful, and did her best to support me throughout the process. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor coordination and leadership. After being assigned to this location by my insurance company following an accident, I stopped by in person to confirm my appointment, since I couldn’t get anyone on the phone. I was assured that a rental car would either be dropped off at the collision center or someone would take me to Enterprise to pick one up.On the day of my appointment, a medical emergency occurred at my job, so I called Enterprise to let them know I’d be a little late. They assured me that someone would still be available around 5 PM to either drop off a vehicle or pick me up. However, when I arrived at the collision center, there was no vehicle waiting and no one came to get me. I called Enterprise multiple times with no answer. With no transportation available, I had no choice but to leave and postpone dropping off my vehicle. The next morning, I took time off work to go to Enterprise at 7:30 AM and speak to a manager. I explained what happened and how unprofessional the experience had been. The manager’s response was dismissive—he simply apologized and said they had a line out the door. I told him that just like the line, their customer service had gone out the door too. They eventually got me into a rental, but the car smelled strongly of cigarettes and marijuana. I pointed this out to Courtney, who apologized and noted it on the ticket so I wouldn’t be charged a cleaning fee.A few days later, the oil light—and then the check engine light—came on in the rental. Keep in mind this was a vehicle with under 10,000 miles. I called Enterprise again and was told to speak with roadside assistance. They directed me to the main location in Fredericksburg to swap out the vehicle and said a ticket would be submitted on my behalf. Before swapping the car, I had just filled up the gas tank in the original rental. When Courtney brought out the replacement, it was nearly empty. I told her this was unacceptable given I had just paid to fill up the previous vehicle. After speaking with her leadership, they approved her to add gas—but it still wasn’t filled to the level I had just paid for.Courtney truly did her best to help and advocate for me, and I appreciate her efforts. Unfortunately, her leadership and the overall customer experience fell far short of expectations. This process was disorganized, inconvenient, and frustrating from start to finish.
May 28, 2025 · Sarai DelcidTroy and Brian were exceedingly helpful in all aspects of getting us the truck we needed and little extra details. This kind of customer service just doesn’t seem to exist in the world anymore. I am so impressed!
