Enterprise Rent-A-Car Introduce
For many of us living in Oregon, having a reliable mode of transportation is essential, whether for daily commutes, weekend adventures to the coast or mountains, or when our primary vehicle is undergoing maintenance. When it comes to car rentals, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a name that frequently comes up, and for good reason. With a strong presence both nationally and right here in Portland, Enterprise aims to be a go-to solution for locals and visitors alike. This article is crafted specifically for you, the Oregon resident, to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what Enterprise Rent-A-Car offers at its Portland International Airport location.
Enterprise has built a reputation over the years for its extensive network and customer-focused approach, often prioritizing what they call "home city" rentals – catering to individuals who need a replacement car due to an accident, mechanical repair, or for special occasions. While they also serve the busy airport market, this local focus can often translate into a more tailored experience for Oregonians needing a temporary vehicle. Let's explore the specifics of their Portland operation.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Portland International Airport (PDX) is conveniently located at 7240 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR 97218, USA. This places them directly within the airport's car rental infrastructure, making it exceptionally accessible for those arriving by air or utilizing the airport as a central hub for various transport options, including the MAX Light Rail system.
For local residents, the airport location offers a distinct advantage. It's often easy to reach via major freeways like I-205, and the well-marked signage around the airport campus guides you directly to the rental car center. Enterprise's presence within this facility means a streamlined process for picking up and returning your vehicle. While some customer experiences have noted the possibility of being directed to satellite offices or facing challenges with signage to specific external locations (as per one review regarding key retrieval), the primary rental counter is integrated into the airport's rental car hub, aiming for convenience and efficiency. This accessibility is a major plus for anyone in the Portland metro area needing a car rental without venturing far from common transportation routes.
Extensive Vehicle Fleet: Enterprise provides a wide selection of vehicles, ranging from fuel-efficient economy and compact cars, ideal for navigating city streets, to mid-size and full-size sedans, SUVs for family trips to the Cascades or coast, minivans for larger groups, and even trucks (under the Enterprise Truck Rental brand) for moving or heavy-duty needs.
Short-Term and Long-Term Rentals: Whether you require a vehicle for a single day, a weekend getaway, a week-long vacation, or an extended monthly rental, Enterprise offers flexible rental periods to suit various durations and needs.
Enterprise Plus Program: As a loyal customer, you can sign up for the free Enterprise Plus Member program. This rewards program allows members to earn points for every dollar spent, which can then be redeemed for free rental days on any car type, without blackout dates, offering a tangible benefit for frequent renters.
Optional Rental Enhancements: Customers can typically choose from various add-ons to enhance their rental, which may include GPS navigation systems (though one review noted potential issues with this feature in newer cars), child safety seats, and various protection plans like Damage Waiver (DW) and Personal Effects Coverage (PEC).
Airport Pick-up and Drop-off: Being located at PDX, Enterprise offers the direct convenience of picking up and dropping off rental vehicles at the airport's dedicated Rental Car Center. Free shuttle services are typically provided from the baggage claim area to the Rental Car Center for arriving passengers.
One-Way Rentals: For those planning a trip that doesn't involve returning to Portland, Enterprise often facilitates one-way rentals, allowing you to pick up a car in one location and drop it off at another Enterprise branch.
Used Car Sales: Beyond rentals, Enterprise also markets used car sales under the name Enterprise Car Sales, providing another option for those looking to purchase a pre-owned vehicle with their backing.
Customer Service Focus: Enterprise has historically been recognized for its strong customer service, including receiving high ratings in customer satisfaction surveys for rental car companies at or near airports. Many customers commend the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, especially during pick-up and drop-off.
Variety of Newer Vehicles: Customers frequently report positive experiences with the condition of the vehicles, with one review mentioning "a brand new Jeep Wrangler," suggesting that newer models are regularly integrated into their fleet, enhancing the driving experience.
Convenient Airport Location: Being directly at PDX offers unparalleled convenience for both air travelers and local residents, minimizing transit time and complexities compared to off-airport locations.
Flexible Booking and Cancellation: Enterprise, through various platforms, often offers flexible booking options, including free cancellation on many bookings up to 48 hours before pick-up, providing peace of mind if plans change.
Strong Brand Recognition and Network: As a globally recognized brand with numerous locations, Enterprise provides a sense of reliability and widespread support, which can be reassuring for renters.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Enterprise has gone completely down the toiletIf I ever deal with them again it will be to soonI went into The terminal enterprise today after returning a car here a week ago. I filled out a lost and found request with their app noticing right away I left my keys in the rental car. So they quickly responded to say they had them and arrangements are made to retrieve them Friday, after the request put in immediately after the car was returned Monday. So I get to the counter at the airport where I've waited and waited to be sent to a satellite office, outside the airport along frontage Rd with an airport way address and NO SIGNthey don't want you to find this place. They were so rude to me here. They did give me my keys back. Thanks. But I can't believe the opportunity to extend more customer service here was truly lacking. FU Enterprise
Jun 30, 2025 · Falcon John Anderson PhilipsLove booking with Enterprise! We just drove to Mount Rainier.🏔I usually get a Nissan Versa, but noticed the last 2 times there was no option for GPS in the car when my phone was plugged in. Kind of disappointing! I hope that will be an update for your most loyal Customers!
Jun 03, 2025 · Jeni AndersonWhen we arrived to the enterprise counter at the PDX airport it had a daunting line. The first thing I noticed is it wasn't just moving quite quickly, but every staff member looked up at us waiting and thanked us for our patience letting us know they'd be with us shortly. This is great customer service that I don't see as much anymore. Making eye contact, feeling seen, showing a great attitude, being professional and showing compassion cause waiting is even hard for adults, especially on a long travel day. The check in and check out process went well and each member connected with us. Wonderful team!
Jul 14, 2025 · Mandi SchwabThe rental itself was as we had expected. A mini van for five days which saved our Oregon travels well. No issues with the vehicle itself.Picking up the car at Portland's airport however was a long, time consuming process based in poor staffing and inefficiency in having cars available when promised. The check in process was fairly routine. Actually picking up the vehicle was an unduly long process in which one employee was charged with dealing with a constantly lengthen line of frustrated travelers. 30 minutes of waiting your turn turned another 20 minutes of waiting because they did not have any of the vehicles we reserved ready. Institutional inefficiency at its finest. Cherry on to was getting into the vehicle and finding it littered with candy and snack wrappers in the back seats. Let's review: 1) 1 employee to deal with 20 customers(1 at a time). 2)Unable to deliver on reservation anywhere close to the promised time. 3)Delivered vehicle littered with wrappers in the back. Customer service is becoming a lost art--especially in the rental car business. Enterprise could use a refresher course. I tweeted about the experience and the company twitter bot, clearly programmed to be caring and compassionate said they would investigate. I heard nothing back from them after the initial contact. Same was true with the bot generated text I received shortly after picking up the car. When I returned the vehicle, an actual human representative of the company asked about the pick-up experience. When I told him, he told his manager and they were nice enough to comp my fuel. I'm a loyal Enterprise customer but this experience certainly tainted the experience and dropped my overall impression of this company.
Jul 13, 2025 · David MaetzoldWe arrived at Portland International Airport late due to airline delays. We had reservations with Budget and the agent went home before their original 2am closing with no means for us to get the car we reserved. In the meantime we saw the Enterprise agents working hard and staying late to provide vehicles for their customers. Enterprise was nice enough to help us, a mom with two kids stranded by Budget first time in Oregon for a wedding. They only had pickup trucks and minivans, but it was better than sleeping in the airport from 1:30am to 5:30am with an afternoon wedding to officiate. They were only $50 more than what we reserved with Budget and got a better vehicle for the price. The Hybrid minivan saves us on gas for a six day trip that included, Cannon Beach. Mt. Rainier, Seattle and back to Portland, Oregon. We paid about $80 on gas. The agents at Enterprise were professional and straightforward, did not price gouge in a desperate situation and very helpful when picking up and dropping off the vehicle. Process was easy and efficient. Next time, booking with Enterprise in the future.
