Flexways Introduce
For Florida locals, the quest for convenient and affordable car rental options is a familiar one, especially in a bustling hub like Miami. Whether you're planning a spontaneous weekend trip, need a temporary vehicle due to unforeseen circumstances like a hurricane's impact, or simply require extra transportation for daily needs, finding a reliable and transparent car rental service is paramount. Flexways is a car rental company operating in Miami, positioning itself as an option for both travelers and local residents seeking vehicles for varying durations.
The car rental market in Florida, particularly around major airports, is highly competitive. This competition often leads to attractive initial pricing, but it also necessitates a careful review of terms, conditions, and customer experiences to ensure a smooth and predictable rental process. For locals, understanding the nuances of an off-airport rental company like Flexways – from their booking procedures to potential additional fees – is key to a satisfactory experience.
Customer reviews can offer valuable insights into a company's operations. For Flexways, the available feedback presents a mixed picture. One customer recounted a very positive experience, highlighting upgrades, excellent car condition, seamless airport transfers, and friendly staff, even praising their flexibility during a hurricane. Conversely, another review expressed significant concerns about "shady" practices, unexpected fees, and a cumbersome check-in process, particularly noting issues with remote agents and credit card scanning.
This article aims to provide a balanced and factual overview of Flexways in Miami, based on the provided information and general public data. We will explore their location, the services they typically offer, key features and highlights, and then summarize why, despite contrasting customer experiences, they might be considered by Florida locals, while emphasizing crucial considerations for a well-informed decision.
Flexways is located at 3990 NW 26th St, Miami, FL 33142, USA. This address places them within close proximity to Miami International Airport (MIA), making them an off-airport rental option frequently linked with online travel agencies like Expedia and Priceline. Their proximity to the airport indicates a primary focus on serving travelers flying into or out of Miami.
For Florida locals, accessing this location typically involves utilizing a shuttle service from MIA. Their pick-up instructions specify taking the MIA Mover to the Rental Car Center (RCC), and then looking for the Flexways/Victory shuttle van between STOP 3 and STOP 4. This shuttle then transports customers to their office at the NW 26th St address. The estimated waiting time for the shuttle is between 10 to 35 minutes, which is a common timeframe for off-airport rental services.
The 3990 NW 26th St location is situated in an industrial and commercial zone, typical for off-airport car rental facilities. While it may not be in a direct neighborhood easily accessible by foot for most locals, its connection to MIA via shuttle makes it convenient for residents who are flying, or those living in nearby areas who may drive their personal vehicle to the location and then utilize the shuttle for a rental pick-up.
Their opening hours are listed as 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day of the week, which provides a broad window for pick-up and drop-off, accommodating various travel schedules. However, as noted in one review, unexpected delays or issues during the check-in process can significantly extend the time spent at the location, regardless of the stated hours.
As a car rental company, Flexways offers standard vehicle rental services, likely including:
- Diverse Vehicle Fleet: Based on customer reviews mentioning upgrades to a Toyota Corolla and renting a Ford Mustang, Flexways likely offers a range of vehicles from economy (e.g., Kia Soul) and compact, to mid-size sedans (e.g., Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic), SUVs (e.g., Toyota RAV4, Chevrolet Captiva), and potentially specialty vehicles like muscle cars (e.g., Ford Mustang). The availability of various categories caters to different travel needs and budgets.
- Flexible Rental Durations: They would offer daily, weekly, and potentially longer-term rentals to accommodate varying schedules, from short trips to extended periods, such as replacing a vehicle after an accident or during repairs.
- Online Booking & Web Check-in: Their affiliation with online travel agencies like Expedia and Priceline, along with a specified web check-in link (https://www.flexways.com/web-checkin.php), indicates a focus on streamlined digital processes for reservations.
- Airport Shuttle Service: As an off-airport location, they provide shuttle transportation to and from Miami International Airport, enhancing convenience for customers arriving by air.
- Insurance/Protection Options: Like all rental companies, they would offer various insurance and protection plans. However, a significant point from reviews is that customers choosing to decline their insurance and use their own may face a rigorous verification process, including direct calls to their insurance company. Some reviews also indicate that using personal insurance or leaving the state might not be possible depending on specific terms and conditions.
- Toll Device / SunPass: Florida has extensive cashless toll roads. Flexways equips all rental cars with a SunPass/e-toll transponder. It's noted that personal toll devices cannot be used, and a daily fee (e.g., $20-$25 USD per day) applies for prepaid tolls. This is a crucial point for all renters in Florida, as avoiding violation charges can be difficult.
Based on customer feedback and public information, here are some features and highlights of Flexways:
- Potential for Vehicle Upgrades: One positive experience noted receiving an upgrade from a Kia Soul to a Toyota Corolla, suggesting that upgrades may be available based on fleet availability and customer service.
- New and Clean Vehicles: A positive review highlighted the rental car (Ford Mustang) being in "excellent condition—clean, very new, and simply amazing!" This suggests that when the process goes smoothly, the vehicles provided can be of high quality.
- Airport Transfer Service: The provision of airport transfers both to and from their off-airport location is a key convenience feature for travelers and locals flying into MIA.
- Competitive Initial Pricing: Their presence on major online travel agencies with "surprisingly low" prices indicates an aggressive pricing strategy to attract customers, especially those booking through third-party platforms.
- Remote Agent Interaction: The check-in process heavily relies on interacting with a remote agent via booths, with on-site staff primarily authorized for vehicle preparation. This is a unique operational model that may or may not suit all customers.
However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in one review, which serve as notable counterpoints or areas for careful consideration:
- Questionable Fees and Hidden Charges: Allegations of "bogus fees" and a "very shady" operation, including a $50 fee for being 3.5 hours late for pickup and additional charges for tolls, are serious. Potential renters should meticulously review all terms and conditions and be aware of potential extra costs.
- Involved and Time-Consuming Registration Process: Despite online check-in, the review mentioned a lengthy in-person registration process, implying potential inefficiencies at pickup.
- Rigorous Insurance Verification: The requirement to call personal insurance companies for verification, even with documents, can add delays and friction to the pickup process.
- Credit Card Scanning Practices: The explicit mention of wanting to "scan like (photocopy) it" (referring to a credit card) raises significant security and trust concerns for customers. This practice is unusual and should prompt extreme caution.
- Limited In-Person Agent Interaction: The setup where physical agents are not authorized to check in customers, requiring remote interaction through booths, contributed to a frustrating experience for one customer due to connectivity or agent availability issues.

For Florida locals, Flexways presents itself as a car rental option primarily appealing due to its proximity to Miami International Airport and potentially competitive initial pricing advertised on third-party booking platforms. For residents who are flying and need an airport-adjacent rental, the shuttle service offers a practical means of transport to their facility.
The positive experience highlighted in one review, which included a vehicle upgrade, a clean and new car (like the Ford Mustang), seamless airport transfers, and friendly staff, suggests that under ideal circumstances, Flexways can deliver a satisfactory rental. This is particularly relevant for locals seeking specific vehicle types or those who benefit from upgrades during periods of high demand.
However, it is absolutely critical for any Florida local considering Flexways to be fully aware of and prepared for the concerns raised in the negative review. The allegations of "bogus fees," an involved and time-consuming check-in process, rigorous and potentially intrusive insurance verification, unusual credit card scanning requests, and reliance on remote agents are significant red flags. Hidden fees, such as for tolls, are common in Florida car rentals, but the context of "shady" practices suggests potential lack of transparency beyond the norm.
Therefore, while Flexways might initially appear attractive due to lower advertised rates, locals should proceed with extreme caution. It is highly advisable to:
- Read the Fine Print Thoroughly: Understand all terms, conditions, and potential fees (including late pickup, insurance, and especially tolls) before booking, even through third-party sites.
- Verify Insurance Coverage: Confirm your personal insurance or credit card coverage for rental cars to avoid unnecessary purchases and potential verification delays. Be prepared for their verification process.
- Document Everything: Take photos or videos of the vehicle's condition at pickup and drop-off, and keep all receipts and communications.
- Exercise Caution with Personal Information: Be wary of any requests for credit card scanning that feel unusual or insecure.
- Budget for Tolls: Assume the daily toll pass fee will apply, as it's difficult to avoid cashless tolls in Florida, and personal transponders may not be allowed.
In summary, Flexways in Miami could be suitable for locals who are very price-conscious and meticulously prepared to navigate a potentially complex check-in process and scrutinize all charges. However, given the strong cautionary feedback from one customer, it would be prudent for Floridians to weigh the perceived initial cost savings against the potential for unexpected fees and a less than straightforward rental experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had a very positive experience with Flexways in October.Initially, we rented a Kia Soul, but upon pickup, we received an upgrade to a Toyota Corolla, which we drove for 4-5 days and were very satisfied with.Due to a hurricane, we had to completely change our travel plans and decided to spontaneously rent a Ford Mustang. Flexways made this possible as well. Two days later, we picked up the car, which was in excellent condition—clean, very new, and simply amazing! All agreements were honored, there were no issues during the return process, and the airport transfers both to and from the location were seamless. Additionally, the staff was super friendly! Thank you!The only thing to keep in mind is that additional fees for tolls may apply, which are added to the price on-site.
Dec 08, 2024 · J. B.Flexways car rental is very shady. Expedia and Priceline offer links to this company. Their prices are surprisingly low but... buyer beware! Expect lots of questionable fees. I was hit immediately with a $50 fee to reinstate my reservation because I was 3.5 hours late to pick up my car for a four-day rental. Additionally, they have a very involved and time-consuming registration process. Despite the fact that I completed much of the process online, the whole process was done again at check in. If you choose to decline their insurance and use your own expect them to call your insurance company to verify your coverage even if you provide all the requested documents. When they wanted to scan my credit card, I balked and walked away. I'm not talking about scanning through a credit card reader. They wanted to scan like (photocopy) it. They don't let you interact with an agent in person. You can only interact with a remote agent. They have booths setup to connect with an agent. It took four attempts to get an agent to pick up. The physical agent at the rental car location was not permitted to check me in. Apparently, all he was authorized to do was prepare the car. Just beware that the appearance of cost savings is likely not to be the end result due to bogus fees and the outfit does not come across as a trustworthy and professional business.
May 21, 2025 · Mark HealeyI wish I could give 0 stars. Purchased a flight+car package on Priceline. When we arrived at “Flexways”, it was not Flexways at all but some other rental place. Priceline told me my deposit would be $100. Upon arrival, they tell me the deposit is $2,000! For a Toyota Camry…. When I questioned the price, they got mad and started yelling at me. They said if I bought their insurance, it would lower the price to $500. Ended up going back to the airport and renting a car from Alamo for $200. “Flexways” is a joke!! Stay far away from these people.
May 23, 2025 · J CYou lure customers in with lower prices, but once we arrive, you force us to pay for your insurance by claiming that our personal insurance is not accepted. On top of that, you aggressively push the highway toll pass at an outrageous price — over $100 USD — when, if I had paid directly myself, it would have cost around $10!You know very well that customers arriving from the airport are vulnerable — tired from their journey and unwilling to return to the airport at their own expense to find another solution. They are effectively forced to say yes. This is pure extortion.
Apr 28, 2025 · Thierry LévèqueI rented a car from Flexways (Reservation Number: NR51HC) for 7 days in Florida. The price was very good, around €120, but I was caught off guard when I had to pay an additional $28.5 per day for an "unlimited toll package" upon picking up the car. This fee was not clearly disclosed during the booking process, and it left me feeling frustrated. While I understand toll fees are common, this daily charge seemed excessive, and I feel I could have gotten a better deal with another company.Aside from this unexpected fee, everything else went smoothly. The car was in good condition, clean, and the pick-up and drop-off process was hassle-free. It's just a shame that this fee wasn't made more transparent from the start.Overall, I would give 3 stars due to this disappointing hidden charge.
