Fox Rent A Car Miami Introduce
For anyone navigating the vibrant and diverse landscapes of Florida, reliable transportation is often a key component of a successful trip or daily life. Whether you're a local resident needing a temporary vehicle or a visitor eager to explore beyond the usual tourist spots, choosing the right car rental company is a crucial decision. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and informative overview of Fox Rent A Car Miami, located in Florida, drawing upon both positive testimonials and significant concerns raised by real customers.
While many car rental companies promise competitive rates and a smooth process, the actual experience can vary widely. Our goal is to present an objective look at Fox Rent A Car Miami, highlighting their operational procedures, the range of services they offer, and the specific feedback from individuals who have rented from them. This balanced perspective will help you, as a local user in Florida, to make an informed decision and manage your expectations for your next car rental experience.
Fox Rent A Car Miami is located at 3275 NW 24th Street Rd, Miami, FL 33142, USA. It's important for customers to note that this facility is an off-airport location, meaning it's not directly situated at Miami International Airport (MIA). Instead, customers are required to take a shuttle bus from the airport to reach the rental counter. One customer review confirms this, stating, "Just note that you’ll need to take a shuttle bus from the airport to the rental location, which adds some time and includes a fair amount of walking."
However, another reviewer had a more positive experience with the shuttle, noting, "Thankfully the shuttle was waiting when we got out to the area needed and it was a 5-10 minute ride there. The driver was very helpful with our luggage." This indicates that while it's an extra step, the shuttle service itself can be efficient. For local Floridians, the address is generally accessible within the Miami area, though traffic conditions can always be a factor. The off-airport location typically means potentially lower operating costs for the company, which can sometimes translate to more competitive base rates for the consumer. Nonetheless, factoring in the shuttle time is essential for planning purposes.
Fox Rent A Car Miami provides a range of car rental services, typical of a large rental company, but with certain aspects that customers have highlighted as areas of concern.
- Diverse Vehicle Selection: Fox Rent A Car offers a wide array of vehicle types, including Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard, Full Size, SUVs, Minivans, Vans, Convertibles, and Premium/Luxury cars. While they advertise various options, one customer noted a discrepancy, requesting a "Toyota 4Runner" but receiving a "2025 Hyundai Palisade," and later finding out Fox "don't even offer a 4Runner." This suggests that specific models cannot always be guaranteed, and customers may receive a comparable vehicle.
- Online Booking and Third-Party Partnerships: Fox Rent A Car facilitates bookings through its own website and various third-party travel aggregators like Expedia. This offers convenience for comparing prices and options.
- Airport Shuttle Service: As an off-airport location, Fox provides complimentary shuttle bus service to transport customers between Miami International Airport (MIA) and their rental facility.
- Insurance Offerings and Requirements: Fox offers various insurance products. However, customers have reported aggressive upselling of additional insurance, particularly for liability, even when renters believed they had sufficient coverage through personal policies or third-party bookings (e.g., Expedia insurance).
- Toll Pass Solution: Fox utilizes a system like PlatePass for managing tolls, which comes with its own daily charges. Customers have noted attempts by staff to push their toll solution, even if customers already have personal SunPass devices. Fox's PlatePass charges are $13.50 per rental day, with a maximum charge of $202.50 for 15 rental days. If not opted for, a $15 administrative fee per toll event (up to $90 maximum per rental agreement) plus the toll cost can apply.
- Security Deposits: A security deposit of typically $150 (though other sources indicate $300-$5000 depending on car type) is required, and must be paid with a credit card. Customers have reported delays in the refund of this deposit.
- Additional Extras: Fox offers optional add-ons such as GPS, child/infant car seats, booster seats, and additional drivers.
Customer feedback for Fox Rent A Car Miami highlights a mix of positive and negative features.
- Friendly Staff (Mixed Reviews): One positive review praises the "friendly and welcoming" staff and states that "the customer service made up for it." However, another experience mentions a rental agent, Beatrice, who "pushed additional insurance on us" and was "caught her in a lie," suggesting inconsistency in customer service quality. The drop-off experience, however, was positive with a "super sweet" lady.
- No Long Waits (Mixed Reviews): A positive highlight was "no long wait to get our car." However, other broader reviews for Fox Miami (and other locations) often cite long wait times for pick-up, sometimes exceeding an hour, indicating this can be variable.
- Vehicle Cleanliness and Performance (Mixed Reviews): A positive reviewer found their "vehicle was clean and drove very well." Conversely, another found their car "not in the greatest shape. Dings, dents, weird scratches on the window operation panels," and it was "not cleaned it well as we found a bag of who knows what in the pocket on the back of the drivers seat." Despite this, the car "ran decently and got us around Florida."
- Aggressive Upselling and Hidden Costs: This is a major recurring negative feature. Customers report being "nickel and dime you and upsell like crazy," particularly for "additional insurance" that was deemed "essential for Florida drivers" even when other insurance was already purchased (an "extra $75 a day, cost us an extra $223 after taxes/fees").
- Misleading Information/Practices: The instance of advertising a car (Toyota 4Runner) that isn't offered, and a representative trying to insist customers could "only use Sunpass through Fox" even when they had their own personal SunPass, points to potentially misleading sales tactics.
- Deposit Refund Delays: A significant concern is the delay in security deposit refunds. One customer mentioned they were "still waiting on the deposit to be sent back to my credit card and we dropped off the car July the 4th" (implying a considerable delay). Fox's policy states 30-60 business days for refunds.
- Off-Airport Inconvenience: While the shuttle can be quick, the necessity of it and the "fair amount of walking" adds a layer of complexity compared to on-airport rentals.

For locals in Florida, selecting a car rental service like Fox Rent A Car Miami requires a careful evaluation of the reported customer experiences. While some individuals have had positive interactions with friendly staff and found their vehicles to be in good condition, there are consistent and significant concerns that cannot be overlooked. The aggressive upselling of insurance, even when customers have existing coverage, and potentially misleading information regarding toll pass options, can dramatically inflate the final cost, turning a seemingly affordable rental into a much more expensive ordeal. Furthermore, discrepancies between booked and received vehicle types, along with instances of less-than-pristine car conditions and delays in security deposit refunds, are notable drawbacks. While the off-airport location and shuttle service are standard for some companies, the added time and logistical step should be factored into your travel plans. For Floridians who prioritize transparent pricing, guaranteed vehicle condition, and a straightforward, stress-free rental process, it is strongly recommended to thoroughly review all terms and conditions, meticulously inspect the vehicle before departure, and confirm all charges in writing to avoid potential frustration and unexpected expenses with Fox Rent A Car Miami.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Overall, a great experience with Fox Rent a Car in Miami. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and there was no long wait to get our car. The vehicle was clean and drove very well. Just note that you’ll need to take a shuttle bus from the airport to the rental location, which adds some time and includes a fair amount of walking. Still, the customer service made up for it, definitely recommend!
Jul 02, 2025 · Ibraheem KH.If I could provide zero stars for this company I would. Do not rent a car from them if you can help it. We decided to try Fox Rent a Car out for our trip to Miami and other areas of Florida and boy was that a mistake.First, we didn't get the car we thought we would be getting. We had requested a Toyota 4Runner and instead got a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. We found out towards the end of our trip that they don't even offer a 4Runner so why even advertise that with a company like Expedia and who knows where else? This company will also nickel and dime you and upsell like crazy. We took a shuttle from MIA to Fox since it is offsite. Thankfully the shuttle was waiting when we got out to the area needed and it was a 5-10 minute ride there. The driver was very helpful with our luggage. When we arrived, we worked with Beatrice. We had done our booking through Expedia. We even purchased the insurance through Expedia as well and not the cheap kind either. We had also done a ton of research prior regarding the toll roads and the need for sunpass so we purchased a sunpass mini prior to our trip as well to activate once we got to Florida. Beatrice then pushed additional insurance on us, something for liability that was essential for Florida drivers which we were under the impression that we had gotten everything needed with the Expedia insurance but she argued it. Also caught her in a lie stating we didn't have insurance at all and then when we showed her the booking, she quickly changed the subject but continued to push the additional liability insurance. That was an extra $75 a day, cost us an extra $223 after taxes/fees. Then she tried to tell us that we could only use Sunpass through Fox. I had read a previous review of this same situation. I told her no, we have a sunpass and will make sure to make our own account so it's not a big deal on their end as it would be an additional 200 some dollars or something if they get the toll bills. I brought out our sunpass and the subject changed immediately. I was happy just to get our car and get out of the location. The car was not in the greatest shape. Dings, dents, weird scratches on the window operation panels. We even found that they did not clean it well as we found a bag of who knows what in the pocket on the back of the drivers seat. Thankfully at least it had wiper fluid and the gas was full. The car itself was okay. It ran decently and got us around Florida on our trip. We, unfortunately, had to return it two days early as we had an emergency at home and needed to fly out as soon as possible. The lady we dealt with at drop off was super sweet and had the best attitude and instructed us easily for next steps. I wish we had dealt with her at the time of rental! I wish I had caught her name.Stay clear of this company at all costs. Expedia is aware of the nickel and diming and the insane upselling and will definitely be looking into it all. We got stuck with our booking once we found out all of this once there otherwise we would have left immediately and gone elsewhere. Be aware there is a $150 deposit also and you must use a credit card. We enjoyed our trip to Florida otherwise, I just wish our car rental experience could have been better. I am actually still waiting on the deposit to be sent back to my credit card and we dropped off the car July the 4th.
Jul 15, 2025 · Lynsey Van HarteThird world experience, just awful. No place to seat anywhere, the shuttle zooms by probably rushing to go home, all in the heat of Miami. The location is not open for 24 hours, and it’s off-site, so if the shuttle ignores you - you are stuck. They couldn’t work with MIA airport to install benches? What’s that, a joke?No way to contact the local branch, you are routed to an offshore call center with barely legible, long-winded reps. Promise to send an email, someone will call you - nothing happened.Should go out of business with this type of abysmal “service”. If there is was a -5 star rating, they should get it.
Jul 02, 2025 · R BI was initially afraid to rent from here because of all the negative reviews but I took the risk. Beatrice was who took care of me and she was great. There was no added fees as long as you have full coverage insurance and have your own toll pass account and can add your rental car. Otherwise it was just a deposit to a credit card. Quick and simple. Car is clean. On the higher mileage side but you can get that with any company and they have plenty of newer cars. But overall so far it’s a very solid and good experience! Beatrice was fantastic. At vehicle return the experience was very easy also. Erika is extremely pleasant to deal with and super kind. Will be back for any car needs in Miami!
Jul 20, 2025 · Ahmed El-RifaiWaited 30 min for the shuttle to pick my girlfriend and i up from Miami airport, tried to call twice but customer service was minimal. Once arriving at the rental location the line was out the door and was moving extremely slowly. More of an inconvenience than anything, extremely disheartening to start my vacation like this. I definitely will not recommend to a friend.
