Booked “Premium Car” thru Priceline. Have rented from Fox out of Texas a couple times and had great experiences. The San Diego location does not meet the expectations that have been set by the other locations.It is weird that they don’t have the driver do the pre-trip inspection walk around with the employee. Would encourage you to do your own inspection and take pictures before signing anything or driving off the lot.The first car they gave me was a red charger. Doing the my own inspection, noticed some dirty here n there but nothing major. Got in the car and it hadn’t been detailed AT ALL. Crumbs, grease, stickiness. I return to the kiosk and they give me keys to a silver 300.. same exact sequence but more crumbs, more grease, more stickiness. Not even in obscure spots.. the car hadn’t been touched by a detail team.Return to the kiosk again and they say they can put me in a Jeep or a Corolla. I take the Jeep. Quick walk around and it’s nothing major so I just jump in and go. As I get into the daylight, there’s crumbs in the cup holders, greasy and sticky smudges on the steering wheel and center console, French fries between the seats.I think a decent detail between renters should be the bare minimum. I shouldn’t have to refuse SEVERAL vehicles due to cleanliness. I shouldn’t have to do my own wipe downs so my hands feel clean while I’m driving. I shouldn’t have to vacuum out other peoples old food.

All I can say is: WOW! This place has to be the best car rental in SD - especially the staff!We had some issues with our Credit Card / Debut Card since we were from germany but Donna did everything so we can get our car for our roadtrip! after 2 hours of finding a solution with Donna we finally made it and got our amazing VW Atlas! Again, thank you so so so much donna! This place is definitely free from any scamming and totally transparent with everything! =)

Came here in December and despite the bad reviews my experience with this location was great! Landed at SAN and got on the shuttle to Fox around 9am. We walked in and there so no line. We were assisted by Loni who was such a great help and had an awesome attitude 10/10 service from her. We prepaid for economy but (just like all businesses they will upsell but you don't have to agree and can decline.) I decided to pay and upgrade to a hybrid camry along with the damage waiver. This process was quick and easy. We then went to the garage to be taken care of by Robert, he was very respectful and helpful but unfortunately as we give him the paper he points at the last hybrid camry driving away and says that was my last one. We were kind of upset but he apologized and wanted to take care of us and offered us a upgrade to a charger but I declined because I wanted a hybrid (California gas prices). He started calling around and I walked around to see what other cars they have and I found a hybrid Mercedes c300. I walked up to Robert and jokingly asked if we can take the benz and he asked for my license and said he will hook it up upgrade since he felt bad for us waiting and not getting the car we wanted. My Wife and I were shocked but that's the perfect example of customer service which Loni and Robert gave to us.P.S. - Traveling & planning is already stressful. We could've walked around grumpy and been rude to Loni and Robert but we decided to just be happy we can travel and to be nice even if theres waiting line or things aren't going our way. Everyone is just doing their jobs and what they can.

I did not have a great experience here, but that really wasn’t Fox’s fault ultimately. And at the end of the day despite my getting pretty upset with both the front desk agent and the agent that supplies you with a car, they still helped me, which was very appreciated. I was not clear on a couple things that I’m hoping this review can clear up for others. First is that there are various sedan size cars which are considered “full size cars.” In my instance, a Dodge Charger, which they were trying to give me, is a full size car. I honestly thought full size was mid-size SUV or larger, which brings me to my second point. My booking was a “hot deal” full-size or larger, their choice. This does not mean they can choose any larger car if requested, due to the nature of the “hot deal” or “managers deal” per their words. You’re gonna pay extra for a larger car. If there is only full size i.e. a Dodge Charger available, that’s what you get. Even if you have a ton of luggage like I did, which obviously will not fit in the charger. For some reason I did eventually get the mid size SUV which I requested, but pretty sure it was just luck, or they just wanted me out of there. I’m also not sure why they didn’t give me that car initially... that part is still a mystery. The staff here was not as accommodating or generally nice when compared to other rental companies in the same building, but I would still give them another chance as they had the best rates at the time of booking, and ultimately the issue was my lack of clarity on their terms and rules.

Don’t use Fox, no matter how affordable it may seam. I prepaid for my rental car for a week, and unfortunately my flight was delayed several hours due to adverse weather. I called Fox to let them know that my flights were delayed and I would be late to pick up my car. I figured I paid for this car in advance if I’m late I want to make sure the staff is aware. What I thought was a courtesy call turned out to be their opportunity to take my reservation and my money and hire out my car. They allow you ONE hour to pick up your car late or you lose it. Even though their auto voice says 12 hours, when you ask them about that they say „it’s a mistake „ Doesn’t matter if you paid for it or not. When you ask for a refund they refuse. I paid for a car I should be able to pick up that car with Valid delayed flight numbers and confirmation. Don’t give your money to these thief’s.
