Hertz Car Rental - Las Vegas - West Centennial Parkway Introduce
For residents of Nevada, particularly in the sprawling Las Vegas valley, having access to a reliable rental car service can be a vital component of both daily life and leisure. Whether it’s for a temporary replacement while your car is being repaired, a convenient ride for local errands, or a vehicle to embark on a scenic road trip through Nevada’s unique landscapes, choosing the right car rental location is key. Hertz Car Rental, a globally recognized brand, operates numerous branches throughout the state, including a neighborhood location on West Centennial Parkway in Las Vegas.
Hertz aims to provide a diverse fleet and various services to meet the needs of its broad customer base. This article will focus on the Hertz Car Rental branch at 8535 W Centennial Parkway, Las Vegas, offering insights into its location, the services typically provided by Hertz, and highlights from customer experiences that can help local Nevadans make an informed decision when considering their next car rental.
The Hertz Car Rental branch is situated at 8535 W Centennial Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89149, USA. This address places it in the northwest part of Las Vegas, within the Centennial Hills area. This location is particularly advantageous for residents in the rapidly growing residential communities of Summerlin, Centennial Hills, and Providence, offering a convenient alternative to the often busier car rental counters at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) or those closer to the bustling Las Vegas Strip.
For Nevadans living in these northern and western parts of the valley, accessing this Hertz branch means less travel time and potentially a more relaxed pick-up and drop-off experience. West Centennial Parkway is a significant arterial road, making it relatively easy to reach from surrounding neighborhoods. Its neighborhood setting appeals to those seeking a local solution for their car rental needs, such as when their personal vehicle is in the shop or for weekend excursions without the complications of airport logistics.
As a major player in the global car rental industry, Hertz provides a comprehensive range of services designed to cater to various customer demands. At their West Centennial Parkway location in Las Vegas, Nevada, customers can generally expect the following:
- Extensive Vehicle Fleet: Hertz offers a wide selection of vehicles, from economical compact cars for city driving, to mid-size and full-size sedans for comfortable commutes or family travel, and various sizes of SUVs (e.g., standard, mid-size, full-size) suitable for exploring Nevada's diverse terrain. They also typically provide minivans for larger groups, pickup trucks for utility needs, and sometimes specialty vehicles.
- Flexible Rental Durations: Customers have options for daily, weekly, or monthly rentals, accommodating both short-term needs and extended periods, such as insurance replacement rentals or long-term projects.
- One-Way Rentals: Hertz facilitates one-way rentals, allowing customers to pick up a car at this Las Vegas location and drop it off at another Hertz branch, either elsewhere in Nevada or in other states. This provides significant flexibility for cross-state travel.
- Optional Add-ons: To enhance the rental experience, Hertz typically offers extras such as GPS navigation systems, child safety seats (infant, toddler, booster), and SiriusXM® satellite radio.
- Protection Options: Various protection products, including Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and liability protection, are available for purchase. Nevadan renters should always verify their personal auto insurance coverage or credit card benefits for existing rental coverage.
- Hertz Gold Plus Rewards®: This loyalty program offers benefits like expedited service, bypassing the counter at many locations, the ability to choose your vehicle within a reserved class, and earning points for free rental days or upgrades. This is a significant advantage for frequent renters in Nevada.
- Fuel Options: Customers are typically provided choices for how they manage fuel: prepay for a full tank, return the car full, or have Hertz refuel it (often with an associated service charge).
- "We'll Pick You Up" Service: Many neighborhood Hertz locations, including potentially this one, offer a pick-up service for customers within a certain radius during business hours, further adding to convenience for locals.
The Hertz Car Rental branch on West Centennial Parkway in Las Vegas presents certain features that can be appealing, but it's important to consider both widely available brand advantages and specific customer experiences:
- Brand Recognition and Network: As a major national and international brand, Hertz offers the advantage of a vast network, which can be beneficial for one-way rentals or finding support in different cities across Nevada or beyond.
- Hertz Gold Plus Rewards: For frequent renters, this program can streamline the rental process, offering convenience and rewards, such as faster pick-ups and potential upgrades.
- Diverse Fleet: The availability of a wide range of vehicle types is a strong point, allowing customers to select a car that perfectly matches their needs, from a compact for city driving to an SUV for exploring Nevada's outdoor attractions.
However, it is crucial to address the customer reviews provided, which highlight significant concerns for this specific location or the brand in general:
- Vehicle Condition and Safety Concerns: One review describes receiving a car that "reeked of weed so strong" and had "quite a bit of damage" prior to rental. Another instance details being given a car with "tires shaking badly" which led to being "stuck on the side of the road," raising serious questions about vehicle maintenance and safety checks before rentals.
- Billing Transparency and Charges: A significant concern is the lack of transparency in pricing, with a customer being charged a "fuel surcharge" equivalent to "almost $10/gallon" without being offered a prepaid option. This suggests issues with clear communication regarding additional costs.
- Customer Service and Issue Resolution: Reviews express frustration with the difficulty of "talking to an actual person" and receiving "the run around" when trying to resolve issues like alleged damage charges or unsafe vehicles. The lack of follow-up from management on serious complaints is also highlighted as a major negative.
- Disputed Damage Claims: A customer reported receiving a collection letter for $1,900 in damages months after returning a car that they claim was already "beat up" and had "no incidents occurred" during their rental. This suggests potential issues with the damage inspection process and communication regarding claims.
These specific customer experiences, while not universally applicable, indicate areas where this location or Hertz as a whole may fall short in consistency, transparency, and customer problem resolution. Prospective renters should approach with caution, thoroughly document vehicle condition, understand all charges, and be prepared to escalate issues if necessary.

Typical operating hours for neighborhood Hertz locations are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with Sunday closures. However, it is highly advisable to call ahead to confirm their current operating hours, vehicle availability, and any specific policies, especially given the feedback regarding service consistency.
For Nevada residents, particularly those in the rapidly expanding northwest areas of Las Vegas, the Hertz Car Rental branch on West Centennial Parkway offers the inherent convenience of a neighborhood location, which can be a significant advantage over airport-based rentals. Its accessibility in areas like Centennial Hills and Summerlin provides a practical option for those needing a rental for local use, vehicle repairs, or short trips within the state.
Hertz's broad fleet selection and the benefits of its Gold Plus Rewards program can also be appealing to many. However, it is essential for local Nevadans to proceed with a heightened degree of awareness due to the concerning customer reviews. While the convenience of location is undeniable, potential renters should take proactive steps: thoroughly inspect the vehicle for existing damage and document it extensively (photos/videos), meticulously review all charges and the fuel policy before signing, and understand the process for reporting any issues or discrepancies during or after the rental period. By taking these precautions, residents can better leverage the accessibility of this Hertz location while mitigating potential frustrations, ensuring a smoother journey through Nevada.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1my review isn’t directed to just this location but all the hertz. I rented a car mid march from this location , well first off the car reeked of weed so strong I made sure to let them know first because i didn’t want to get in trouble for that. I took videos of the entire car before driving away there was quite a bit of damage then returned the car 3 days later in scottsdale az. I was told there was no damage to the car and I was good, then 2 months later I receive a letter from collections with no itemization saying I owe $1,900 in damages… no communication from hertz what so ever, this car was beat up before i got it and no incidents occurred. I am beyond frustrated goodluck ever talking to an actual person and if you do you receive the run around. I will be filing a BBB complaint with the company. go somewhere else .
May 23, 2025 · Shannon BGot a loaner cause my car was being repaired. Got a Chevy Malibu. Wasnt told much except they needed a card for a $50 hold for incidentals and if i wanted insurance. Wasn't asked about fuel prepaid option, but I honestly didnt even think of it. Returned the car with a little less than half a tank. Got charged $99.53 for fuel surcharge! Meaning they billed me almost $10/gallon to refill the tank. Ridiculous.
May 06, 2025 · Shalei ChangIf I could give zero stars I would. The two ladies that "run" this place are extremely rude. They wouldn't let me pick up a car I pre paid for for my wife, who would be the primary driver, and wouldn't refund my money. Just kept giving me corporate answers, like "that's policy" and "well I don't control the website" and interrupting me when I was trying to speak and being very rude. They won't let me change or add a driver (even though the website says you can,) and they wont give me my money back, and they wont cancel the rental. When I asked to speak to someone above them, they told me on of the girls was the branch manager. When I asked to speak to whoever was her boss, at first she said there wasn't anyone I could call. Then she did call her boss, who was just as rude over the phone, and when I was trying to speak to the boss the girl kept interrupting me. They won't cancel the rental. I'm sitting outside their office with no rental car and they still have my money. Hertz will steal your money and leave you high and dry. Also, my wife and I have been on hold with Hertz customer service for 30 minutes.Go somewhere else for your rental.UPDATE: Best thing to do is dispute the charge with tour card company and let them know these people don't care and will try and take your money, then go 1.6 miles down the road to Enterprise who are professional al, polite, helpful, AND CHEAPER.2ND UPDATE: 2 hours later, the Hertz account respo ded to this review and I still haven't gotten any feedback and they haven't done anything about it, so it's still happening.
Jul 26, 2024 · Robert ScottRather negative experience. First of all, I virtually never write bad reviews, but this visit motivated me. I reserved a car, albeit from a 3rd party website. I specifically checked the box, NOT an electric car. We arrived 30 minutes before closing and a Tesla was waiting for us. Ok, I'm flexible and it was a discounted rate, so I accepted.I then stated that I wanted to decline the Collision Damage Waiver (as my credit card would cover) but was interested in Liability insurance. The gal, who was pleasant, quoted me the price for the CDW and added it, instead of the Liability. Finally, she explained we would need to charge the Tesla, or pay a higher fee if returned below the starting charge. From past rental car experiences, I knew with a gas car, you never want to prepay a tank unless you are doing extensive driving and asked her for the recharge fee. She said she would get to that.I drove home and looked at my receipt and saw that I was charged $12.81 for the recharge fee. Great, I thought, that's pretty reasonable, although she never quoted the fee. I also noticed I had the CDW not the Liability coverage.I drove back to Hertz, the next morning and said I was happy with the recharge fee. She replied she took that off as I had declined it and now cannot add it since the car left. I explained the confusion of CDW and Liability coverage, but she was unable to make any changes.I did charge the Tesla and returned the car and asked to have the $14.86 Tesla station charge waived, due to my 3 issues above. So she called the manager and told her that we weren't happy, but we had declined and accepted services, so we are to blame. She then gave me the 1-800 number to complain. When you call the number, it tells you to go to the website. So instead, I am writing this review. It appears there will be a canned response with no resolution starting with"We are extremely sorry to read about your experience at our Las Vegas Car Rental Location. We do...."
