★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Hertz in the Marina del Rey Marriott was supposed to be open at 9:00 on Saturday, but the opening person no-showed. I arrived at 9:30 and was the 5th person in line. There was a line about 7 or 8 people long by the time an employee from another area finally arrived a little after 10:00. He was kind to come in and did a great job under the circumstances. He was friendly, apologetic, and warned us that he didn't know what shape the cars were in. I would give him 5 stars. He is the only reason I am not posting as a 1 star.The car I checked out had not been washed, it had an 18% charge on the EV battery, there was a low tire pressure indicator on the dash, and I found a part that fell off the car on the back seat (it was the passenger side windshield frame). I actually took the car to a tire shop, and they said the pressure is fine. The tire pressure sensor probably needs to be replaced. This was the most poorly cared for car I've ever rented. It will be returned in better shape than received! My son even put the windshield frame back on.

Despite a written assurance from the desk agent that a refund would be processed within 5–7 business days, two weeks have passed with no refund, no updated receipt, and no further response — despite multiple follow-up emails.The overall handling was unacceptable. Rather than addressing the issue or offering support, the final response was to redirect us to a general hotline with a 20+ minute wait time. This is not how a global rental company should treat any customer — especially when the mistake was clearly internal.Our group of nine people, all present during this incident, witnessed the disorganization and lack of accountability firsthand. Unfortunately, this appears to be a recurring issue at this location, as other public reviews also reflect serious problems: poor staffing, inaccurate charges, long waits, unavailable vehicles, and confusing office hours.We will be filing a formal complaint through appropriate channels, and we strongly advise others to avoid this location until serious improvements are made. I was forced to pay for an "upgrade" in order to ensure I had a car since there was no guarantee the previous customer was going to return their car on time. I'm ok with accepting a car I didn't reserve. I'm not ok being forced to pay an upgrade fee due to the company's lack of inventory.I'll likely look to another option like Turo next time I rent a car. I encourage you to do the same.
