I have not had that happen at other hertz locations. So, just be prepared for these extra steps before you can drive off with the rental. Having said that, I would recommend renting here if the location is convenient.
Feb 25, 2025 · ashwin asaniIf I could rate this place a 0 I would. I rented a vehicle through them multiple times since June of this year. Maybe about every two weeks for a total of 2-3 days. I was not informed until a few rentals in that I can be reimbursed for the time I did not use the car when I returned it early the night before. I was dropping off the rentals around 10:30 pm the night before it was due at 8am, 12pm, etc. last rental the exterior of the car was filthy, the car was in an accident and the car was given to me without inspection and while driving in the highway, I had to pull over to exam what the loud noise was and it was the front bumper's hard plastic behind it dragging. I call road side with no answer. I left two emails and only received a confirmation of the email. I had to call Hertz to tell them what had happened when I dropped it off, and they had again rented it out to another renter. Mokena manager didn't respond with an apology, she was in denial for her team, and not once have I been reimbursed for any of my early drop offs or compensated for giving me a damaged vehicle. I will NOT EVER go back to Hertz at any location for their vehicles.

Enterprise is my normal go to and I am very familiar with their policies and am generally in and out in a few minutes. This was my first time renting with Hertz.#1 - Everyone I spoke with at the branch location was very kind and professional. I called and asked if I could pick up my rental a couple hours early and I was told that I could.#2 - The rental process was very smooth. I was the only customer at the branch and the car (a Tesla model 3) was ready to go (albeit with a 40% charge). Photos had been taken of the exterior and it was clean. I was asked if I wanted additional coverage, toll pass, etc. and I declined. I provided my auto insurance information and quickly signed the rental agreement.#3 - I rented a Tesla. I had never driven, let alone been in a Tesla before, so all the technology and intricacies were very new to me. With that being said, a branch employee (I'm terrible with names) took me out to the car and spent about 30 minutes going over all of the features of the car with me. Even though I questioned my choice in renting a Tesla, the car was VERY easy to learn and it was even recommended that I drive the car around the block a couple of times, which I did. I appreciate his help tremendously!In the end, I liked the Tesla. It's not the right car for me and road trips but my kids loved being in it and we enjoyed the time we spent in it, but I am glad that we rented it.I would STRONGLY suggest that if you are reading negative reviews for this location that you consider the reviewer's history (only 1 or all negative reviews) or what they're upset about.Not liking the vehicle received when renting the "manager's special" (call ahead and see if they can give you an idea of what that might be), billing practices, not reading the agreement, etc.Just like anywhere else, be polite and personable and you'll be more than satisfied with your experience. I would gladly use Hertz Mokena in the future again, without hesitation.

The problem I encountered, however, is that the corporate website allows anyone to make reservations, regardless of whether the requested vehicle is available or not. I made a reservation a few hours before, got my reservation number, and took an uber to the Mokena location only to be told that they don’t have a vehicle for me. Lesson learned: either don’t use this company or call and confirm before wasting a trip.
Jun 24, 2025 · zfan2591When we arrived I had parked crooked in the spot we were in a hurry right after I gave the lady my info she said your gonna have to move your truck and straighten it out. So I did, went thru the process, she couldn't find our car, it wasn't out front, it is dirty, not washed, there's tape residue on the truck and some sticky residue on the roof, bugs on the front bumper/facia, a black mark on left front bumper below the head light, chips in the paint on the body panels where the trunk closes I asked do we need to note this so I don't get charged for these issues she said no. This is poor customer service I understand it's a rental but I expect the car to be clean. I was advised there's a 200.00 additional charge that will be refunded upon the cars return I asked why the lady said its policy I asked what the charge is for she didn't answer me so we left with the car.I tried to reach out to hertz corporate they would not let me speak to a supervisor told me to use their web site.This has been a very disappointing experience with hertz and this location.9/2 Received 2 email from hertz customer support was offered a 50.00 voucher for next rental they wanted to do more but I didn't file a case with roadside emergency service, I was advised to file a case with the online web site under paint claims I think that's what it was called, emailed them back with that document number got a email back 5 days later that said that number was not valid and because I didn't contact emergency Road side there was nothing they could do, my question why call emergency Road side the car was not broke down. I will not use hertz again.
