I waited a few days after returning my week-long rental before deciding to write a detailed review regarding this location as well as my first time electric vehicle (EV henceforth) rental experience. I would recommend renting a similar EV from this location for short and medium trip driving. If you are considering long distance I think tesla is the only reasonable option.First and foremost regarding the service and expertise of this particular location. Quanzell is the manager and sole service agent of this location; he is both professional and friendly. He is expecting an additional staff for the summer. Quanzell is very experienced with electric rentals as he commutes in them for work, so I learn some basics from him. This location has ample EV inventory so it's a great place to rent an EV. I tend to rent cars whenever I have visitors to take advantage of the miles allowance as well as familiarize myself with new technologies in modern vehicles. I have shied away from renting an EV in previous attempts due to inconvenience associated with electric charging, and boy I was correct to have those concerns. Nonetheless I decided this was the time I would go all in.I ended up with a 2023 Polestar 2, by the electric arm of Volvo. I had expected to get a tesla as I thought hertz had specialized in teslas but it turns out that was a false assumption. Overall I was pleased about my rental experience.Now the good:1.Fast acceleration. If you have only driven gas/hybrid cars you will be very pleased with the acceleration from this model as well as most pure EVs.2. Efficiency. Once you are acquainted with single pedal driving, most of your local stops will be converted back into battery charge. You almost never have to use the breaks.3. Safety features. This car has all the modern safety features you can expect from an entry luxury sedan. All non-invasive features can be utilized such as rear view cameras, lane assist, full body surround collision detection (using at least 4 cameras), front and back sonar sensors, advanced cruise control, emergency collision detection (not very good), LED lighting system and many others standard.4. Always active cell data connection. The car has a built-in computer with full LTE cell data connection. It will always auto update and provide Google maps navigation without needing to rely on android auto/apple carplay; thus you aren't required to connect your cell phone for navigation though they are optional.5. Ride quality and comfort. Very quiet and comfortable even on potholes. The wheels are fairly large for additional comfort and efficiency. Also the ride height is about that of a crossover. The doors will clear just about all curbs. Also the climate control was comfortable.The Bad:1. Driving Range: Fully charged the polestar 2 will only do 240 miles, but this is a myth for a couple reasons. one, you will almost never see this car at 100% charge (see next section). I picked up the car at 180 miles (just below 80% full). Two, the estimate mileage will depend heavily depend on your driving habits and highway vs local. I tend to get better mileage locally than on the highway due to braking regeneration. I was very brave to operate the vehicle to about 10 miles range remaining before finally charging because I wanted max charging efficiency for both speed and frequency of charging.2. Charging: Ok this was a doozy. Unless you have an available dedicated charging facility this will be a pain. When I rented this car I had the notion that I could use this vehicle in any Tesla charging station with an adapter provided by the vehicle. Well both assumptions were wrong: the car didn't come with the required adapter and I was told even the adapter had issues with tesla chargers. Once tesla stations aren't available you will have to deal with lines at fast chargers. The lines are highly unpredictable regardless of which service you choose. Sometimes 0 wait and other times over an hour. Review exceeded character limit
