Jul 06, 2025 · Adam JohnsonI Was suppose to receive an SUV to replace my vehicle, which is a 2022 Chevy Tahoe, which my insurance was paying for while my vehicle was getting repaired. When I went to pick up the rental vehicle nearly 3 weeks ago, on 3/17/25, I was told there were no SUVs available at the time. I was convinced to take a smaller vehicle and was told I would be called immediately as soon as an SUV was available. I went ahead and agreed to take the smaller car because I understood things happen and I was to expect a call soon to come switch into an SUV as soon as it was available. Almost 3 weeks have gone by, NO CALL. I tried to call the PSL SLW branch on a couple occasions to no answer. So on today, Friday, 4/4/25, I walked into the branch at around 8:15am to find out whether I can get the vehicle I expected because now at this point, I have a family trip and actually was in need of that bigger full size SUV that I expected.I explained to the guy on shift at the front desk, which was not the original person I dealt with in person when I first picked up the vehicle a couple weeks back, that I accepted a smaller vehicle because I expected a call not long afterwards to come and pick up the actual vehicle I was suppose to have. And that I was basically there at this point to receive the bigger vehicle that I needed for my family’s trip.He offered me a Nissan rogue which I then told him that that would be too small. So he asked what was I looking for and I told him something the size of my personal vehicle that was getting repaired which is a Chevy Tahoe. I was then told that in order for me to get the Chevy Tahoe or something the size of that, it would be more money that I would have to spend out of my pocket. I asked how much was that vehicle a day and he said $55 and my insurance is only paying up to $50. I said okay fine. I will pay the $5 difference per day. Then he proceeds to say, “oh you will have to pay the difference from the beginning of when you had the entire rental with us.” I asked what does he mean? Why would I pay the difference of the previous 3 weeks that I’ve had another smaller vehicle that was cheaper, $24.24 per day to be exact, plus the future difference if I took the Tahoe today? It’s not like I’ve had the Tahoe in my possession. I’ve had a “Nissan Sentra”. So how could they legally go back and add an extra $30 per day to a smaller vehicle that I had in my possession as if I had a Tahoe in my possession.It’s like I was being scammed. It clearly made no sense to me. I told him I will call my insurance and cancel the rental with them altogether and politely walked out.Update:I got called to pick up the bigger vehicle, to get all the way back there and be told they have a small SUV available that only fits up to 5 persons. Smh. I specifically told them before that I needed something the same size or bigger than my Tahoe. I can not make these things up. Smh. I will NOT RECOMMEND this location to anyone. I’m not sure what they have going on, but they are not a company I would ever want to rent from ever again. I was suppose to have an at the least, 30 day rental, I ended up cancelling the remainder of the reservation. A waste of my time and energy. If you want a hassle-free experience, DO NOT go to Hertz in Port Saint Lucie on Saint Lucie West BLVD. You’ve been warned smhS Butts
