Two Black women were treated with blatant disrespect and clear bias from the moment they walked in.Scott was rude and dismissive right away. He completely ignored them while assisting other customers who came in after them. When they finally asked for help, he looked at them and said, “You’re gonna wait until I deal with my other customers.” The tone and attitude were uncalled for and noticeably different from how he treated everyone else. He also was whispering in front of the two ladies as well.On top of that, he refused to let them use a debit card for their rental — even though others had no issue. He also denied one of them the ability to use a valid coupon from her job, which should’ve been accepted. It was clear they were being singled out and not given the same respect or service as other customers.What I witnessed was not just poor customer service — it was discriminatory, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. I hope management addresses this seriously. Everyone deserves to be treated equally, regardless of race.

I waited patiently for 45 minutes while I watched the employee treat person after person with absolute disrespect. He was the only one working so I thought “hey maybe he’s just stressed and having a bad day” He allowed 2 people to jump ahead of me in line and I still was patient. My turn came. I had my license, credit card, and insurance ready to make things easy. After him saying I was dumb for going through Expedia, he took my credit card and refused to tell me how much I would be charged and cut me off when I asked questions. After a few more minutes of him making me feel like I wasn’t worth anything I decided to cancel my booking and walk out crying. This man should not be allowed to be in customer service.

Scott Burkardt was the customer service representative whom was assisting me with a reservation. This representative treated myself and my mother inhumane. I was advised upon arrival that my payment method was unacceptable for my reservation. My mother then tried using a separate payment method with a NEW reservation, again assisted by Scott Burkardt. My mother was also told her payment method was unacceptable. The representative was extremely rude while assisting myself and my mother as we watched several customers treated with respect by the same representative. As we were next in line to be serviced again, Scott asked who was next. As myself and my mother stepped in front of Scott’s desk after he was told by other customers we were next, Scott looked at myself and my mother and stated “Actually you both are going to wait until I handle my other customers”. The duration of time I was there was 1:30pm- 4:50pm

Besides the fact that people just love to complain about the way the universe goes sometimes, I have no idea why this Hertz in Rockford has a low score. I had the absolute best and smooth experience with them. Pick up and drop off was easy. The car was clean, safe, and well-maintained. I traveled over 2,000 miles in it and it was perfect. The cherry on top of the experience was the rep I worked with, Scott Boerema. After having some issues with booking online, I went into the store and he helped me. I enjoyed our conversations at pick up and drop off and he made me feel like he'd be there to support on my journey if I needed assistance. Everyone in the office was so kind. I'd love it if the management and staff could stay the same here because I'll 100% use them again for my rental car needs. FREE THIS HERTZ LOCATION FROM IT'S LOW RATING!!! A+++!
