I am a Hertz five-star member, but will now never rent from Hertz again after what happened at this agency. We rented a one-way rental from Pennsylvania to Somerville to assist with my son’s move. My son dropped the car after hours. He parked it and filmed himself walking around the car, locking it, and placing the key in the dropbox. After several days, we received an additional charge of $500 for smoking in the vehicle. First off, no one in our family, smokes, and one of the passengers of the vehicle has asthma. When we called to complain, the person on the phone changed his story before adamantly, insisting that we had smoked in the vehicle. A one hour call to Hertz customer service Accomplished nothing. The customer service agent to whom we spoke lied to us, telling us that a manager would be calling us back that day. We’ve never received another call and the charge remains. If you’re still reading this, I encourage you to rent from Enterprise. Their customer service is top notch and I have never been wrongfully charged.

I was finally given a filthy car with French fries and food grease strewn everywhere. I cleaned the car myself. Poor staff person was the ONLY one scheduled to handle a terrible situation. He did his best and was kind but Hertz should be ashamed for putting him in an impossible situation and taking customer money and not providing services as promised.

I was forced to use this rental car shop because of my auto body next-door And they had a truck for me. Little did I know this was going to be the worst rental experience of my life. As I was being charged for my rental, I had my rental car repossessed For no apparent reason. On top of that, they refuse to answer any of my calls Or send me any receipt so that I can be reimbursed by my insurance company. Douglas, the manager, Told me one thing and then did the exact Never heard back from him and was left high and dry. The only way to get a hold of them if there is an issue is to go into the shop. And if you get to that point they sit On their hands With no ability to solve problems. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Avoid Using Hertz At all costs, but more specifically this location. 0/100. NEVER AGAIN

We arrived at 10 AM and found nine people ahead of us in line, but there were no staff members present. I spoke with the last person in line, and we all decided to wait outside because the place was overcrowded, had no air conditioning, and no open windows.We periodically checked to see if the line was moving. After more than an hour of waiting, we returned inside when there were only two people ahead of us and decided to stay in line.When it was finally our turn, the manager informed us that he couldn’t assist customers using insurance, then proceeded to help two women behind us who were paying out-of-pocket. I spoke up because it was clearly unfair.The manager was extremely rude and dismissive. When we asked to speak to someone else, he arrogantly said he was the manager and explained that insurance transactions take too long, so he prioritizes those who aren’t using insurance.We ended up leaving around noon, completely dissatisfied. His behavior was unprofessional, and I sincerely hope the owner provides him with proper training—he is clearly not qualified to be in a management position. I will never return to Hertz or recommend them to anyone.

When I arrived to pick it up today, they said all they had available were two EVs, neither of which were charged. I'm on a 500-mile road trip, so an un-charged EV is definitely not comparable to what I reserved in this case. I'm surprised that company policy even allows a car to be rented un-charged.The desk manager was also unprofessional. I asked what the range of the EVs was and he said he didn't know. He didn't even care enough to take a few minutes to look the information up. He seemed completely apathetic about the whole situation, and distanced himself from the company rather than apologizing on their behalf and acknowledging the hassle that they caused. He didn't have a name tag or anything else indicating he actually worked there, which is also surprisingly unprofessional to me.
