To make matters worse, there was no washer fluid in the vehicle, the tire pressure was wildly different in each tire, and the back speakers didn’t work at all. Despite receiving a vehicle in such poor condition, the staff had a lot of demands, including threatening to charge me for a full detail if they found even a single piece of trash.They insisted that I needed to fill up the tank prior to returning the vehicle or I would be charged $10 per gallon. When the employee realized the tank was not full, she wrote on my receipt that it was 60% full, but when I asked them to fill it up, she flatly stated they would not do that. I took pictures of the gas gauge and the vehicle’s interior and exterior before leaving, and when the employee saw me taking pictures, she said, “you go right ahead, I took pictures as well.”A week later, I noticed a charge of $66 for gas on my credit card. When I reached out to Hertz to resolve this issue, I was directed back to the individual location, which only tried to redirect me to the number I had already called. It seems like this is a common occurrence at this facility, and I would not recommend renting from them.
Apr 01, 2025 · Jessica JonesAvoid. Made reservation of a cargo van a month ago and even paid a down payment. Checked the day before if all is ready but then got we will call you back. The call came with the bad news that they don’t have a cargo van. They did find an electric one 100 miles away but since I need to drive 800 miles, this was just not what I had a contract for and would not work. I asked her then to cancel and refund which she did not do and with that I would have lost at least 100$. Later that night after waiting on the phone for an hour, I got someone in the call center to cancel and hopefully refund. Have not seen my money yet. Luckily there is U-Haul who got me out of a terrible bind the next morning. Will not ever do business again with this place nor brand.
Jul 11, 2025 · Daniel HI originally had a reservation through my AAA account to pick up at the Airport location, but i didn't have my physical credit card on hand, but i had a virtual card i was able to reserve it with, but the man at the desk said i had to have the actual card itself. I asked if i could use my debit card and he stated the airport location does not allow debit cards, but the other Hertz locations will let me use my debit card. So i cancelled this reservation and made a new one at the Memorial locationI make a new reservation through my AAA membership to be picked up at the Memorial location. I head over there, and the staff seemed very friendly and welcoming at first. To start, there was a woman that started to help me, asked for the credit card, i explained i do not have a physical copy of my credit card at the moment, but i do have my debit. She said she can't do debit. I explained the airport told me the other locations would accept my debit card, but she then tells me they can't do it in my case, because i just made the reservation that day and it has to be made 24 hours in advance to use the debit card, and there would also be a $500 hold on my debit card to use it. She suggested i get one of my other travelers that has a credit card to use theirs. I asked if i can still use my AAA membership because it had a great discount, and she said yes, so i called my sister. and she agreed to use her credit card.My sister arrives, then we were told we have to do a new reservation and not get my AAA discount because my sister isn't on my AAA account (after the other employee told us it wouldn't be a problem and we could use the same reservation). I had already prepaid for the car and the insurance ($185) off my credit card and asked if i could cancel that reservation and get my refund on that, and the gentleman helping us said that wouldn't be an issue and he'll give me all the info i need to do that. So we create an entirely new reservation, then the fees starting adding up. Additional drivers, their insurance, a fee to not have to worry about filling up the tank, etc.. by the end of this, something that should have cost around $200 ended up putting a $500 hold on my sisters credit card. We were at this place for over an hour, also told the only available car they had was an electric car. Neither of us have ever driven an electric car and the gentlemen said it was easy to charge up, showed us where the charging is and gave us the name of an app to use to find charging stations. We did not receive any other instruction on this. I'm not even going to go into how difficult it was finding charging stations that worked and how expensive it is to charge up and was not educated on the time it takes to charge up as well. (drive to and from St. Louis cost us over $200 in charging). The car itself was nice and seemed clean and taken care of, but do not recommend traveling a long distance in an electric vehicle!I called my AAA to get the refund on my first reservation and they explained they needed to call Hertz to get the approval to refund the money to my credit card (you know, the one they had no trouble taking my reservation with and pulling $185 from, but wouldn't let me use because i didn't have a physical card with me). It has been over a week, and Hertz has not responded after I've reached out a couple of times already.Also, the Hertz location messed up our return time on the vehicle. They said they transferred over all of the same information from my original reservation (pick up at Memorial location and return to airport because we needed to drop off the vehicle in the evening time). They had it pick up that day (Friday) and return Sunday morning at 10am, when we said return at 7pm. So then, my sisters credit card was charged an extra day because of their mistake. Also, my sister just notified me that tolls were also charged to her credit card with no notice. This rental ended up costing us over $700.. with interest. This place and company is an absolute scam and we will NEVER be going through them again.

When I rented it and they still charged me for a tank of gas. I was charged $80 More than I should have been for that rental because of the extra day and the gas after getting out of the agency there at 44 0 6 South memorial. Amanda told me she would take care of it as she was the one That had authorized me to bring it in the next day. There has been plenty of time for it to have been reimbursed and it still hasn't happened and when I call to talk to them about it , they constantly put me on hold

No ability to transfer to another location. He just said "There's nothing I can do." Support could only refund the $250 we had already paid 7-10 days from now AND we could pay over $500 up front to create a new reservation to pick up today (we are supposed to leave tomorrow). Absolutely ridiculous.So $250 short on vacation now. And still no rental car.
