Loving Touch Transportation Introduce
For many Michigan residents, particularly seniors and individuals with disabilities, reliable transportation extends beyond typical car rental needs. It often involves specialized vehicles and a level of compassionate care that traditional rental agencies might not provide. This is where Loving Touch Transportation, based in Clinton Township, MI, steps in. This local company focuses on offering tailored transportation solutions, bridging the gap between needing a ride and ensuring it's a comfortable, safe, and supportive experience. They are not a conventional "car rental" in the sense of self-drive vehicles, but rather a specialized transportation service with a focus on assisted transport.
Loving Touch Transportation was formed in 2007 with a clear goal: to service the growing senior population with a unique brand of service they call "Loving Touch." This mission extends to individuals with disabilities, ensuring that access to essential appointments, social activities, and even family transfers is handled with dignity and professionalism. They understand that for many, mobility is a key factor in maintaining independence and quality of life, and their services are designed to support just that.
Unlike a standard car rental where you pick up keys and drive yourself, Loving Touch Transportation provides chauffeur-driven services, often utilizing specialized vehicles like minivans and vans equipped with bariatric lifts for wheelchair accessibility. Their drivers are more than just chauffeurs; they are referred to as "transportation companions," trained to cater to specific client needs, from providing an extra blanket to adjusting climate control, ensuring a pleasant and secure journey. This level of personalized care is particularly crucial for those with medical conditions or mobility challenges.
The company's service philosophy centers around compassion and going "above and beyond" to ensure clients' comfort and timely arrival. This is especially vital in Michigan, where varied weather conditions and travel distances can make transportation challenging for vulnerable populations. Loving Touch Transportation aims to alleviate the stress often associated with arranging non-emergency medical transport or transfers between facilities, offering a reassuring presence and reliable service that families can depend on.
While one customer review highlights a frustration with a cancellation policy, another powerfully illustrates the positive impact of their empathetic and dedicated service. This duality suggests that while policies exist, the human element, particularly exemplified by staff like Renee, can make an immense difference in highly stressful situations. For Michigan families navigating complex transportation needs for their loved ones, understanding both the operational policies and the compassionate intent of a service like Loving Touch Transportation is key.
Loving Touch Transportation is conveniently located at 40680 Garfield Rd # 2B, Clinton Township, MI 48038, USA. This placement in Clinton Township puts them within the heart of Macomb County, making their services accessible to a wide demographic across Metro Detroit and beyond. Garfield Road is a well-trafficked route, ensuring that their office is relatively easy to find for those arranging services or for caregivers visiting in person.
While the physical office location is in Clinton Township, Loving Touch Transportation's service area extends significantly further. They primarily serve Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, and Livingston counties, but importantly, they state "no destination borders or trip purpose restrictions." This broad reach means that for Michigan residents in various parts of the Lower Peninsula, their specialized transportation services are potentially available, even for longer trips across the state.
This wide service area is crucial for their target clientele, who often require transport to diverse locations such as medical appointments, different care facilities, shopping centers, social activities, or even employment. The ability to accommodate both short, local trips and longer-distance transfers significantly enhances their accessibility for individuals and families managing complex care logistics throughout Michigan.
- Non-Emergency Medical Transportation: Their primary service, providing rides to doctor appointments, medical procedures, rehabilitation centers, and discharges from facilities.
- Wheelchair Accessible Van Service: Equipped with vans that have bariatric lifts, capable of transporting individuals who use wheelchairs. They can also accommodate walkers, canes, oxygen tanks, and child car seats.
- Transfers Between Facilities: Assisting with the movement of individuals from one assisted living community or care facility to another.
- Personal & Social Transportation: Providing rides for shopping, social activities, family gatherings, and recreational outings.
- Employment Transportation: Facilitating transportation to and from jobs.
- Door-to-Door Service: Drivers provide assistance from the client's door to the vehicle, and from the vehicle to the destination's door. This is a crucial distinction from basic curb-to-curb services.
- Flexible Scheduling: While two weeks' advance notice is preferred, they strive to accommodate same-day or shorter-notice trips based on availability.
- Various Payment Methods: They accept cash, checks, and credit cards. They also work with certain insurance types and private pay options.
- Compassionate "Transportation Companions": Drivers are trained to provide personalized care, ensuring comfort, safety, and a pleasant experience.
- Compassionate and Considerate Staff: As highlighted by a review, staff members like Renee are praised for being "kind, considerate, and reassuring," especially during intensely stressful situations. They go "above and beyond" to provide emotional support and practical assistance.
- Reliable and Punctual Service: Customers commend their timely transport, ensuring individuals arrive at their destinations as scheduled, even under pressure.
- Specialized Wheelchair Accessibility: Their fleet includes vans with bariatric lifts, making them suitable for clients with mobility challenges, a critical service for many Michigan residents.
- Broad Service Area: While based in Clinton Township, they serve Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, and Livingston counties, with no destination or trip purpose restrictions, offering wide coverage across Michigan.
- "Transportation Companions" Concept: Drivers are trained to be more than just drivers; they are attentive to client comfort (e.g., providing blankets, adjusting temperature, changing radio stations), ensuring a pleasant journey.
- Personalized Attention: They focus on the individual needs of each client, aiming to make stressful situations as smooth as possible.
- Understanding of Client Needs: They provide support not just for physical transport but also for the emotional and logistical aspects of moving vulnerable individuals.
- Policy Transparency (and its impact): While a policy regarding cancellation cut-off times may lead to charges, the company communicates these policies. For the affected client, this created a negative experience, but it was due to a stated policy rather than a hidden fee.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Probably a good company, but I did not have such a nice experience. The staff was friendly and all, but penalizing a new client for a doctor cancelling an appointment after my cutoff window, still getting charged for a ride? Yes, that was what I was told, and agreed to: unless the ride is cancelled before the cutoff time, you'll be charged for the full fare. I get it that that's your policy, not that it should be. That's what I get for trying to help out a family member: lose money over something out of our control. Don't even get me started on not accepting insurance; not like insurance does anything anyway!
Jun 30, 2025 · michelinman 8592I recently had the "wonderful" experience of hiring LT (Loving Touch) to transport my father from one assisted living community to another. I put "wonderful" in quotes, because the situation was less than desirable, as I was under the gun to get him moved by end of day. Renee (sp?) was so kind, considerate, and reassuring that she made an intensely stressful situation the best it could be, including listening to me cry from the pressure I was under. They went above and beyond to ensure my father was transported on time, with compassion and care. I cannot say enough about them! Highly recommend!
Jun 11, 2025 · AIM GraphicsI am temporarily in a wheelchair learning to walk again. I needed this service to get back and forth daily to work and I start at 7:00 am. Most days they had me at work by 6:40. They also picked me up on time. A friend of mines and I called around looking for driving services for people in wheelchairs. They were by far the most reasonably priced. I will definitely use them in the future for a family member or friend.
May 31, 2025 · Venus PaulThis was several months ago but I keep seeing them at my dad’s assisted living and it keeps reminding me of the lack of “love” portrayed by this company. They drove my dad to an appointment. The driver came early and he was not friendly. I sent an email to the office about it. A women called me and said that the driver was there at the right time denying they could ever make a mistake. I write thorough notes when I talk on the phone but I guess I could have been wrong. However they claimed they don’t make any mistakes and told me that I should find a new service. Well I was planning on it. For the cost of this transportation you better believe I went with a kinder, more customer oriented service since then.
Mar 12, 2025 · Tracy VallelungaWe are very satisfied with the prompt and courteous service we received from Loving Touch Transportation. Renay and Don who answer the phones and make the appointments, and Michael our driver, are all top notch and people oriented. It was a pleasure doing business with LovingTouch, and we will certainly call then again if wheelchair transportation is needed. Michael was a few minutes early for each of the two times we called, and offered service with a smile, and great conversation on the ride to appointments.
