I waited over 30 minutes to leave the lot because the manager, Frank, couldn’t figure out how to handle a single stalled checkout. Rather than pull the problem car aside or direct others to the open lane, he stood there wasting time while a line of cars piled up behind.When I finally honked and spoke up, Frank got into a yelling match with me instead of taking responsibility or doing his job. No apology. No urgency. No customer service. Just total mismanagement and indifference.This wasn’t a system glitch, it was pure incompetence. Frank is not only unqualified to manage anything, he’s actively damaging the national brand. Life happens I understand, but under no circumstance should anyone wait 30 minutes because a car before mine has reservation issue. I was patiently waiting, but at the 30 minute mark I lost it. Avoid this location if you value your time and sanity.

I’m very particular about the cars I rent and during my last visit, André was so kind and patient. When I saw that one of the cars had a maintenance alert, he searched the lot across their partner companies for thaw same car and brought it over to me. (If you’ve been to EWR, the lot is quite big.) His diligence definitely encouraged me to rent with them again.

He was so friendly and helpful and made an effort to get me in the car that I was hoping for. At the exit gates Kareem was also super nice.The car I received was spotless as well. Highly recommend National at EWR all around!
