Booked a rental almost 2mo in advance online, came in on-time to pickup, and was told about a new policy regarding insurance coverage. Apparently, insurance must not be expiring or up for renewal 30 days from the last day of the rental, but this info was not communicated whatsoever to me prior to my rental pickup, so there was no way to know that my July 1 car insurance renewal would be a problem. Furthermore, upon dropping the vehicle off, I was informed about a toll fee, despite having my MD Ezpass mounted in the car. NextCar deliberately and knowingly uses a third party company to circumvent your Ez-Pass responder so they can charge you the toll, plus a fee, and there is absolutely no way to get around it. Worst rental company experience and policies of all other options. Definitely do NOT recommend and encourage others to use the several other services available to rent cars!

Upon arrival, I was told they don’t accept third-party coverage even though it was offered through their partner site. I spent 30 minutes canceling it on the spot.When I offered my credit card (which includes rental coverage), the staff (Jose) actually called my card provider, confirmed the coverage, and printed out the benefits… then still refused to honor it. He said I had to buy their collision damage waiver, no exceptions even though I had verified coverage in hand. He claimed it was “mandatory” due to their policy of requiring at least 30 days of coverage regardless of rental length, which is absurd.I called corporate, and they repeated the same rigid stance. No flexibility. No customer service. Just wasted time, and stress. This could’ve been avoided if they had simply followed their own written rental policy or properly communicated what they do and don’t accept upfront.Beware if you’re booking through third-party platforms like Priceline—they seem to penalize you for it. May 31, 2025 · HD DECORThey gave me a great price for a beautiful brand new rental car. I left the car nice and clean and I am getting my deposit back. If I don’t I guess I will be changing this review ha ha. The guy at the desk was very sweet and even pretended not to look when I bust out crying bc it’s hard being a female by yourself dealing with being in an accident & having to deal with all the BS surrounding it, especially if it wasn’t your fault. I have nothing bad to say about them. Great price, very clean car, and very sweet staff. Although, I did get a little paranoid, reading reviews & unnecessarily spent $20 for a car wash I can’t really afford right now after my car got totaled. I do believe that that car wash was unnecessary. Unless you trash the inside of the car, you’ll be fine. I was only ever in the car on by myself & I still had to go through and clean it up a bit after two weeks. That’s all I recommend doing.
