Whether you're visiting Dallas for business, picking up a rental for a family vacation to the Texas Hill Country, or simply need a temporary vehicle while your car is in the shop, Thrifty at DFW aims to be a viable choice. Their location within the airport's central Rental Car Center simplifies logistics, allowing for quick transitions from air travel to road travel. Let's explore the details that make Thrifty a relevant option for Texans.
Thrifty Car Rental at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is conveniently located within the airport's dedicated Rental Car Center. The address for the facility is 2424 E 38th St, Dallas, TX 75261, USA. This centralized location is a major advantage for travelers flying into DFW, as it eliminates the need to take additional shuttles to off-airport rental facilities.
For Texans driving to pick up or return a vehicle, accessing the DFW Rental Car Center is straightforward. From all terminals at DFW, as well as major highways converging on the airport (such as TX-121, TX-183, I-35W, and I-635), follow the prominent blue signage directing you to "Rental Car Return" or "Rental Car Center." These signs are consistent and designed to guide drivers efficiently to the facility, which is situated near the south entrance of the airport.
Upon arrival at the Rental Car Center, Thrifty's counter and vehicle pickup/return areas are clearly marked within the shared facility. For arriving passengers, after collecting baggage, you will follow signs to the designated "Rental Car" shuttle pick-up area on the lower level of the terminal. These free, 24-hour shuttles depart frequently (typically every 10-15 minutes) and provide direct transportation to the Rental Car Center, with a ride time of approximately 10 minutes.
For departing Texans, after returning your Thrifty vehicle at the Rental Car Center, the same efficient shuttle system will transport you directly to your specific DFW terminal for your flight. This seamless connection ensures that getting to and from your rental car is integrated smoothly into your overall travel plan, saving valuable time and reducing stress, a key consideration for many Texans on the go.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I highly recommend Thrifty. This is the second time I’ve rented a car with them, and both experiences have been great. The service is quick, the prices are fair, and the cars are new. They accept the security deposit on a debit card, and it gets fully refunded within three days. Returning the car is also a very fast and smooth process. I didn’t have any issues either time, unlike with other rental companies where I’ve had problems before. I’m sticking with Thrifty.
Jun 28, 2025 · Pedro FontouraI recently rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental, and my experience was deeply disappointing. While attempting to add gas and toll costs, the customer service representative significantly increased my bill by adding additional insurance without clearly disclosing it. It was my oversight not to scrutinize the charges at the counter, but I certainly expected more transparency and honesty.Upon reviewing my charges later at my hotel, I discovered an additional $300 beyond my expected rental cost. My immediate call to Thrifty customer service proved futile, as they stated they could not modify charges over the phone and directed me back to the rental location.Returning to the location a few hours later, I was again met with a lack of resolution. The staff there instructed me to call customer service, creating a frustrating back-and-forth situation. After placing a call to customer service on speaker at the location, a manager finally appeared after a 30-minute wait. Despite explaining that my personal insurance policy covered most needs and that I had not requested the additional coverage, she initially claimed she could not do anything. After much pleading, the manager eventually agreed to refund only half of the unexpected charges. Feeling I had no other recourse, I accepted this partial resolution.Based on this experience, I highly recommend against using Thrifty Car Rental. If you absolutely must use their services, please exercise extreme caution:Thoroughly check every single charge at the counter before signing anything.Take your time to review the details, and do not hesitate to ask for clarification if anything is unclear or if the process feels rushed. My experience was marred by unexpected charges and a frustrating customer service ordeal. Learn from my mistake and protect yourself by being vigilant.

Jul 13, 2025 · David BosworthI recently rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental, and my experience was deeply disappointing. While attempting to add gas and toll costs, the customer service representative significantly increased my bill by adding additional insurance. We were told that we couldn’t take the vehicle without purchasing insurance from them. We stated that we have never had to do it before our insurance covered rentals and they said it changed a year ago and we would have to take their insurance or no vehicle. We felt we didn’t have a choice as we needed to get to a wedding.Upon reviewing my charges later and my insurance policy we knew we didn’t need the insurance. My immediate call to Thrifty customer service proved futile, as they stated they could not modify charges over the phone and directed me back to the rental location. But they would remove the insurance for the last 4 days of rental. I received an email saying they would remove the insurance.Returning to the location two days later, I was again met with a lack of resolution. They said we had to cancel the current contract we were in so we needed to go upstairs and return the vehicle for an exchanged and we would be in a new vehicle . We went thought the entire process of a vehicle change to realize at the end we would be paying more for the exchange then the total amount with insurance for the first vehicle contract. Despite explaining that my personal insurance policy covered everything. After much discussion the manager eventually said that there is nothing they can do for us and we can take the original vehicle that we have and pay the full amount with the insurance. We were quoted $660 CDNThey forced the insurance so our billed was now $1278 CDNWhen we went back to try and take the insurance off and do the exchange they wanted to charge $1164 CDN for 4 days of rental and insurance. Then take a different car for the remaining 3 days without the insurance and charge $397 CDN. That would be more than we originally started with the insurance. It was frustrating for everyone.Cost of our vehicle was doubled what we were expecting to pay!Based on this experience, I highly recommend against using Thrifty Car Rental. If you absolutely must use their services, please exercise extreme caution:Thoroughly check every single charge at the counter before signing anything.Take your time to review the details, and ask for a manger asap when you feel things are incorrect .
Jul 03, 2025 · Michelle TuckerThrifty is shifty, grifty, and another s word, but "honest", they are not. You picked the mystery brand? Fight like hell for your money back. They will probably not give you what you paid for - and they didn't in my case. The staff of this location must be kerosene enthusiasts, because they will gas light you like nobody's business. First, they downgraded the rental category I had paid for from a midsize suv to an economy car. Then, the staff had a meltdown because they had misinterpreted our primary car insurance - for your personal vehicle - with primary damage waiver for the rental. The Nissan Versa car they rented also had the transmission break down a little over a week later. Towing company was sent by Thrifty, which took the vehicle back. It was only at that point did they provide a Jeep compass - the class of vehicle we had paid for in the first place - as a replacement. I'm watching my card like a hawk to make sure they're not adding any bogus charges, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did. The conduct I've witnessed lends significant credence they are engaged in unethical conduct in misleading consumers of car availability and the safety of the vehicles they rent. Please do not do business with this location. RUN! RUN!! RUN!!!!
