Thrifty Car Rental at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located at 9000 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA. As an airport location, its accessibility is primarily centered around facilitating travelers arriving and departing from LAX. Thrifty, like many other major car rental companies at LAX, operates off-site from the main airport terminals. To reach the Thrifty rental facility from the airport terminals, customers are generally required to use a complimentary shuttle bus service. These "rental car shuttles" are easily identifiable by their purple-red signs and can be found at designated pick-up points on the airport arrivals level. The shuttle ride from the terminal to the car rental counter typically takes around 5-10 minutes, with shuttles running frequently. For returning a vehicle, customers drive directly to the 9000 Airport Blvd location, where a quick return process is usually in place, followed by a shuttle ride back to their respective airline terminals. This off-site arrangement is common for large airports and aims to manage traffic flow around the busy terminals. The location operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, accommodating arrivals and departures at any time, which is a significant convenience for travelers with early morning or late-night flights.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It was a great experience until we return the car, we overpassed the return time for 3 hourse which I believe is not the end of the world. We went to the Thrift return to extend and have one day with the car... 1st error, as I should have come into the parking lot by foot but I rather came in with the car, at the return place a Guy gently told me to talk to customer service and let them know I wanted to extend... 2nd Error if I already came in I just needed to tell them I wanted and extension... since the car was already I was not able to extend nor take the car with me... so I lost time, money and hope....
Jul 05, 2025 · Chris Baullin (Chris Ba)Wow. This was the worst car rental experience ever. DO NOT RENT HERE. My wife and 2 children 6 and 8 had a reservation for 8pm on July 4th after flying all day. Once we finished giving our credit card and driver's license to finalize the rental we found out it would be at least 2 hrs before we got a car. I asked people around and people had waited 3 hours and someone rented a SUV and waited 5 hrs.I spoke with a gentleman behind. The counter that seemed to be overseeing and asked what was happening, how could this be. He said people were returning cars late and they had not control. I said that can't be the case for all these people who have bookings to be delayed. He got very offended and combative. I had to walk away when he wouldn't settle down.I continued to watch him be rude to a few others. When I asked his name he said Scott and wouldn't give me a last name. Please never rent from thrifty. The response below is useless and more frustrating. Why would you pay attention to. Reviews but continue to allow thrifty to rent cars when you do not have enough. You take time to care about your image and Google reviews but not track the variables of having a alibe cars.I am a very expended driver so I was able to take a 12 seater van. God knows that is horrible to drive in LA. If you are charging people for being late to return their vehicles then you can take that amount out of my rental fee. Only this will make it right. There has to be a cost to YOU for my waiting. People who can not drive a 12 seater van waited over 3 hours. This is not ok.If you are making money from people returning cars late and holding people to the reservations they make but have to wait over 3 hours it is not right. Horrible business practice and even worse that you care about your Google reviews but do nothing at all to fix it.Just say you don't have cars available, people understand that and will go elsewhere.
Jul 05, 2025 · Jason StewartThis car rental company is the biggest cheek I have ever experienced.First we were simply charged for insurance that was not required, then we were charged $30 A DAY for an upgrade to another vehicle, without asking. Fortunately, I was vigilant when signing. The car was already fully paid for and I was supposed to pay an extra $800. Here you really have to be careful every second that you don't get tricked.
Mar 18, 2025 · Steven HilleIf you have been scammed by Thrifty like me, please like this comment to make other vulnerable people aware.I pre-booked my reservation via a third party company to save time and money be upon arrival after a long 11 hour flight. However, when I arrived the person named 'Bill' (manager) mis sold me Insurance (which I did not need) and also upgraded my vehicle stating that there would be no extra charge, but I was in fact charged.I assume Bill (short bald asian/indian male) gets a bonus and commission for these things so lines his pockets pretty frequently based on the other reviews for Thrifty LAX.Beware of these scammers. Bill seemed so nice and friendly and even shook my hand when I left. I'm so disappointed for allowing myself to be scammed and trusting in people. Never again!Word of advice, BEWARE! The 2 star reviews speak for themselves. The only way I will take down this review is if they refund me my $360 which the so called 'manager' Bill scammed me for.Why would you take advantage of people like that Bill?!
May 24, 2025 · Yas LeeI had one of the worst rental car experiences at Thrifty LAX. I had reserved a car through Booking.com while traveling in Costa Rica. However, when I arrived to pick up the car, they refused to honor my reservation, claiming I needed an international driver’s license—even though I live in the U.S.They told me to contact Booking.com to resolve the issue, which took nearly an hour of frustrating phone calls. When I finally got through, Booking.com wanted to speak with a Thrifty representative, but the staff outright refused, saying they were not allowed to talk to anyone. Instead of helping, they told me to go back to the end of the line and wait again. When I finally reached the counter a second time, they canceled my reservation, saying it was my responsibility to read the fine print. I then asked about making a new reservation, and they claimed to offer a “manager’s discount”—but the price was double what I had originally paid through Booking.com!Frustrated, I left and immediately booked with Budget for half the price. The entire Thrifty staff was rude, unprofessional, and completely unhelpful. I’ve never experienced such poor customer service at a rental car company. Save yourself the hassle—never book with Thrifty!
