U-save Car Rental Introduce
Navigating car rental options in a bustling region like Los Angeles can be a critical part of any travel plan, whether you're a local exploring California or visiting from afar. For many, a good car rental experience means convenience, clear communication, and a smooth process from pick-up to drop-off. Today, we're taking a look at U-Save Car Rental, a company operating near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). While affordability is often a key factor for renters, understanding the full scope of a company's service, policies, and customer interactions is equally important. This article aims to provide a factual and informative overview of U-Save Car Rental, drawing directly from available public information and customer feedback, to help California users make an informed decision.
The car rental landscape around major airports can be complex, with numerous providers vying for your business. For those seeking a vehicle in the Los Angeles area, U-Save Car Rental positions itself as an option. However, as with any service, particularly one critical to travel, it's essential to delve deeper than just the advertised rates. We’ll explore what customers have experienced, from their initial booking to the final return, shedding light on aspects like customer service, vehicle condition, and the overall rental process. Our goal is to present a balanced perspective, relying on actual customer accounts to give you the clearest picture of what to expect when considering U-Save Car Rental for your California travels.
U-Save Car Rental is located at 5301 W 104th St, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA. This address places it in close proximity to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a major hub for travelers entering and exiting Southern California. While its location is near the airport, it’s important to note that, according to customer accounts, the facility is not within the main LAX rental car center. Instead, it is described by one customer as being in a "rundown industrial area" and requires separate transportation to reach, often involving an Uber or other ride-sharing service, which can incur additional cost and time, as one customer reported spending "$80 on an Uber just to get there" after encountering significant traffic.
Accessibility, while geographically close to LAX, appears to be a point of concern for some customers. The facility’s off-site nature means it's not as easily accessible as rental companies located directly within the consolidated rental car facility at LAX. This can lead to unexpected delays and logistical challenges, particularly for those unfamiliar with the area or traveling with luggage. The journey to and from the rental location itself can add unforeseen time and expense to a trip, which is a crucial consideration for California residents planning their travels. The location also reportedly experiences chaotic scenes, with "people yelling outside, staff shouting at customers, and a line of frustrated renters waiting inside," suggesting that the overall environment and accessibility experience can be quite demanding for customers.
Based on customer experiences, U-Save Car Rental appears to offer standard car rental services, though the execution and associated policies have drawn significant feedback.
Vehicle Rental: The primary service is the rental of vehicles, presumably for various durations (though short-term rentals are frequently mentioned in reviews). The availability and condition of specific car types are not consistently positive, with reports of cars being taken even after being picked out by staff.
Pricing: Customers are often initially drawn by "good" or "affordable" pricing, especially for short-notice trips. However, this initial appeal is often overshadowed by subsequent issues, leading some to conclude that the pricing was "too good to be true."
Insurance Interaction: The company engages with customer insurance providers for claimed damages. However, there are instances where the information provided to insurance companies by U-Save Car Rental regarding vehicle damage has been inconsistent or allegedly inaccurate, with claims of accidents when none occurred and discrepancies between claimed damages and photos sent to customers.
Customer Service Interactions: While one staff member (Hubert) was noted as friendly, other interactions, particularly with unnamed staff and management, have been described as rude, unprofessional, and involving yelling. Customers have reported difficulties getting a word in during phone conversations and managers hanging up the phone.
Based on customer feedback, several key features and highlights emerge regarding U-Save Car Rental, offering a critical perspective on their operations.
Initial Price Appeal: A recurring theme is that customers are initially attracted to U-Save Car Rental due to seemingly competitive or "good" pricing, especially for last-minute bookings. This often serves as the primary reason for choosing them over other, more established rental companies.
Customer Service Inconsistencies: While one staff member, Hubert, was noted positively for his demeanor, the overall customer service experience is frequently described as unprofessional and hostile. Customers report staff being "not at all friendly," "rude," and even "yelling at customers." Interactions with management have also been characterized by a lack of willingness to listen or engage constructively, with a manager reportedly yelling at a customer and hanging up the phone.
Undisclosed Policies and Communication Issues: A significant highlight of concern is the alleged non-disclosure of critical policies until the point of rental. For instance, a California native reported being denied a rental because they didn’t have a return flight, a policy that was not mentioned during the online booking process. Furthermore, communication post-rental regarding alleged damages has been problematic, with claims of damage being made without timely provision of photographic evidence or consistent information provided to insurance companies.
Disputes Over Vehicle Condition and Damage Claims: Customers have reported disputes over alleged vehicle damage upon return. Instances include claims of windshield chips or front-end damage that customers dispute with their own photographic and video evidence taken before and after the rental, which they claim contradicts the company's assertions. The company's alleged refusal to answer calls to resolve these discrepancies is also a repeated highlight of concern.
Chaotic and Unprofessional Environment: The physical environment at the rental location has been described as "a mess," with a "line of frustrated renters waiting inside," "people yelling outside," and "staff arguing." This contributes to an overall perception of disorganization and a lack of professionalism, creating a stressful experience for customers.
Warning for Due Diligence: A strong recommendation from former customers is to take "LOTS of photos and videos when renting and returning their vehicles" as a protective measure against disputed damage claims. This highlights the perceived need for extensive personal documentation due to the company's alleged practices.

For individuals located in California, especially those in the Los Angeles area looking for a car rental, it's crucial to consider all aspects of a service provider before making a booking. While U-Save Car Rental might initially attract customers with competitive pricing, as seen in various customer accounts, the overall experience reported by many suggests significant challenges. The stated address near LAX offers geographical convenience, but reports of the actual facility being off-site in an industrial area, requiring additional transportation and incurring extra costs, are important factors for locals to weigh.
The recurring themes from customer reviews, such as inconsistent and often confrontational customer service, alleged undisclosed policies (like the need for a return flight for local renters), and contentious post-rental damage claims, indicate a pattern that could lead to considerable frustration and financial disputes. For California residents who rely on smooth and predictable service for business trips, family visits, or leisure travel within the state, these issues could significantly disrupt plans and lead to unforeseen stress and expenses. The recommendation from past customers to extensively document vehicle condition with photos and videos before and after rental highlights a need for extreme caution and proactive self-protection when dealing with this particular company. Ultimately, while the initial price point might seem attractive, the potential for a difficult and problematic rental experience, as widely reported, suggests that California locals should proceed with extreme caution and carefully consider all available alternatives before choosing U-Save Car Rental for their transportation needs.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If I could give no stars I would. This was the WORST car rental place I have ever been to. The staff was not at all friendly, minus Hubert, though he didn’t help us directly he was nice to everyone. The man we had (was never given his name) was rude and got mad at Hubert when the car he picked out was taken, threw the pen across the table at us then left to find a new car. We did an entire inspection of the car as routine, was given the keys and off we went. Returning the car was a nightmare, the man who took the keys from us was yelling at my mom about some sand on the floor board (that we were actively sweeping out as it came from the bottom of our shoes). Once again, we did a sweep through around the car. There was no damage, the car was clean, and off we went to the airport. We received a text the next day claiming the windshield was chipped, was told that they were going to take pictures and send them to us for insurance purposes. Never happened. I called and spoke to the manager myself, he would not let me get a single word in, proceeded to yell at me about things that he did not know about because he would not let me speak so that he could be informed about the issues at hand. He hung up the phone on me, refused to answer my returning call but FINALLY sent photos over of the car. Mind you, we took pictures and videos of the car when we got it and before we turned it in. Both sets of photos from us does not match what they sent but again, they refuse to answer the phone so that we can send them our photos and videos to compare. They called our insurance company the next day and reported that the car had been in an accident (it was not), and that they needed to pay for the damage to the front end of the vehicle. Something that they did not inform us of when claiming the windshield had cracks in it. They did NOT mention the windshield damage to the insurance company and as of our last conversation with them, they still haven’t.One thing the manager failed to note to the insurance company was that, he sent me photos which shows the front end of the car. In said photos there is NO noticeable damage to the front of the vehicle which is what our insurance company has in their possession. They are still refusing to answer the phone. It is extremely unfortunate that this place turned out to be an absolute nightmare. The pricing was good especially since we had a short notice on our trip to LA but it turned out to be too good to be true and now we are paying the price for it. I will never do business with them at LAX or any other airport they’re at ever again. If you choose to use them make sure you take LOTS of photos and videos when renting and returning their vehicles.
Jul 11, 2025 · TaylorABSOLUTELY DO NOT RENT FROM U-SAVE CAR RENTAL AT LAX – WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFEI’ve rented cars all over the world—from every major company you can name—and I have never experienced anything as unprofessional, chaotic, and downright disrespectful as I did with U-Save Car Rental at LAX.I’m a California native who frequently visits family in Los Angeles, and I’ve rented cars from multiple companies at LAX over the years without a single issue. This time, I booked online with U-Save because the price looked good. Big mistake. After spending nearly two hours in traffic and $80 on an Uber just to get there, I arrived to find the location was not at the main rental center, but in a rundown industrial area. The scene was a mess—people yelling outside, staff shouting at customers, and a line of frustrated renters waiting inside. Still, I stayed calm and waited in line for about an hour with a confirmed reservation, ID, and credit card in hand. When I finally reached the counter, I was told I could not rent the car because I didn’t have a return flight. Let that sink in. No warning of this policy when I booked online. No clause. Nothing. Just a last-minute bombshell that made absolutely no sense. I explained that I live in California, was visiting family in LA, and just needed a car for the week—something I’ve done many times before through reputable rental companies at LAX with no issue. The response? A cold, dismissive “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do.”I was stunned. I wasn’t flying in. I wasn’t flying out. I was simply a local renting a car for the week—something thousands of people do every day. The fact that they let me book online, waste hours of my time, spend money getting there, and then blindsided me with this nonsense excuse was offensive. I asked to speak to a manager and was told it would take another 20 minutes while customers around me were literally yelling about being stranded or overcharged. I walked out disgusted.Every single person in that office looked like they were trapped in a nightmare. Angry customers. Staff arguing. Zero professionalism. This isn’t a rental company—it’s a complete joke.Bottom line: U-Save Car Rental at LAX should be avoided at all costs. They’re disorganized, unprofessional, and run on policies that make no sense and are not disclosed until it’s too late. This was a total waste of my time, money, and energy. I’ve never written a review like this before—but I want to warn as many people as I can: do NOT rent from this company.
Apr 16, 2025 · ShaliThe people here are friendly and helpful! I ran into flight delays at United and was about to miss my reservation. I called as soon as I landed and they gave me straight forward directions to get there and stayed open later so that I could still get my car rental. Then returning the rental was a breeze. Paulo made it super simple and even helped me figure out how to pay a toll I accidentally went through. He was awesome!
Jul 01, 2025 · A THerbert and Duane at U-save are the absolute best. I have rented from U-save quite a few times and every time I go there I am taken care of with their exceptional customer service. They really care about their customers and always do their best to explain everything and make sure you have a good experience. Also they always give you good cars. Not any basic base model overly used vehicles. They give you quality cars. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!
Jul 05, 2025 · Arron ClarkeI had an outstanding experience at Usave Car Rental in LA. The representative (Duane) had a genuinely helpful attitude and from the moment I walked in, he greeted me with a warm smile. He took the time to answer every question patiently, changed my vehicle because I wasn’t satisfied with the one I got and made sure I felt confident about my rental choice. What stood out the most was his professionalism combined with a personal touch — it felt like I was being helped by a friend who truly cared about making my trip smooth and stress-free. The entire process was quick, easy, and hassle-free, thanks to their efficiency and attention to detail.I highly recommend him to anyone renting a car through this company. Excellent service like this deserves to be recognized!
