For residents of Florida, securing a car rental can be an essential part of daily life, whether it’s for navigating local commutes, planning weekend getaways across the state, or simply needing a temporary vehicle. When searching for a car rental service in Miami, convenience, transparency, and reliable customer service are often top priorities. This article aims to provide a factual overview of Advantage Car Rental in Miami, based on publicly available information and customer experiences, to help local Floridians make informed decisions about their transportation needs.
It's important for local users to be aware that experiences with car rental companies can vary, and Advantage Car Rental in Miami has received feedback that highlights certain areas of concern. Understanding these points upfront can help manage expectations and potentially mitigate issues, ensuring that your car rental experience aligns with your plans for exploring the Sunshine State. The objective here is to present a balanced perspective, drawing from various customer accounts to paint a clear picture of what you might encounter when choosing Advantage in Miami.
The freedom of the open road in Florida is a wonderful thing, but the journey to getting that vehicle should be as smooth as possible. For those accustomed to straightforward transactions and clear communication, examining the operational aspects of a rental provider before booking is key. This overview of Advantage Car Rental is designed to serve as a practical guide for Floridians, shedding light on reported aspects of their service that are particularly relevant to local users.
Advantage Car Rental is listed at the address 3900 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33142, USA. While this address is in Miami, it is crucial for local users to understand its actual relationship with the airport. Multiple customer reviews indicate that while the location is often represented as being "at the airport" by booking platforms like Expedia and even Google Maps, it is reportedly located a significant distance away from the main airport car rental center. Customers have described this as a "half mile walk" involving "climb over multiple barriers and cross busy streets without crosswalks" to reach the facility from the airport.
Furthermore, concerns have been raised about the visibility of the Advantage signage at the physical location. Reports suggest there is "absolutely no signage for Advantage at the rental location, inside or out." This can lead to confusion and difficulty in finding the correct counter, especially for those arriving from travel or unfamiliar with the area. It's also been noted that contacting the Miami location directly can be challenging, with one review stating the listed phone number routes to an Orlando location that could not provide the correct contact for Miami. These accessibility factors are particularly important for Florida residents who might be accustomed to convenient, clearly marked, on-airport rental services.
Based on customer experiences, Advantage Car Rental in Miami offers services that primarily revolve around standard car rentals, but with notable caveats and reported issues that potential local customers should be aware of:
- Car Rental Bookings: Customers can book vehicles through various online travel agencies, though there have been reports of discrepancies between booking details and actual experiences at the counter.
- Vehicle Availability: While a range of vehicles is theoretically offered, some customers have reported that their booked vehicle was not available upon arrival, even when arriving on time.
- Pricing and Fees: This is a significant area of concern. Numerous reviews highlight "sooo many extra hidden fees" leading to the final price being "more than 3x the cost" initially quoted. This includes mandatory charges not communicated upfront, leading to customer upset.
- Pick-up and Drop-off: The physical location is off-airport, requiring a shuttle or a challenging walk, despite being advertised as "at the airport." Customers have also reported issues with getting the correct physical address for returns and dealing with "multiple names under the same car rental" business.
- Vehicle Condition and Compliance: One customer reported being given a car with an "expired tag," which could lead to legal issues if not noticed.
- Customer Service: Reviews describe "horrible service," long lines, and unhelpful counter staff. Attempts to resolve issues, such as seeking refunds or getting correct contact information, have been described as frustrating and time-consuming, with calls routing to unhelpful out-of-area numbers.
Given the available public data and customer feedback, the "features" and "highlights" of Advantage Car Rental in Miami should be viewed through the lens of reported customer experiences, which often contradict typical expectations for positive highlights:
- Advertised Competitive Pricing: While initial booking prices might appear competitive, a recurring "highlight" from customer reviews is the significant discrepancy between the quoted price and the final cost due to numerous undisclosed fees. This often leads to customers paying "double of what I was quoted" or "more than 3x the cost."
- Off-Airport Location: Although the address is provided, a notable "feature" for customers is that the rental location is not directly at the airport despite being advertised as such, requiring inconvenient and potentially unsafe travel to reach it.
- Lack of Clear Signage: A consistent point of feedback is the absence of clear Advantage branding or signage at the physical rental location, making it difficult for customers to find the correct facility.
- Challenging Customer Service: Instead of being a highlight, reviews frequently mention long lines, unhelpful staff, and difficulty reaching the correct Miami location via phone, with calls often rerouted to an unhelpful central number.
- Vehicle Availability Issues: Customers have reported that vehicles booked in advance were not available upon arrival, despite timely pick-up attempts.
- Potential Vehicle Compliance Issues: A significant reported "feature" is the alleged provision of a vehicle with an "expired tag," raising concerns about fleet maintenance and regulatory compliance.
- Deposit and Refund Issues: One review mentions a "deposit is $1000" and a long wait (up to 21 days) for deposits to be returned, which can be a point of stress for customers.
For those considering Advantage Car Rental in Miami, the primary contact information provided is:
Address: 3900 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33142, USA
Phone: (305) 635-3230
Mobile Phone: +1 305-635-3230
It is important to note, however, that customer reviews have reported issues with these contact numbers, stating that the number listed for Miami often routes to an Orlando location that cannot provide direct assistance for the Miami branch.
Based on the consistent and significant negative feedback from multiple customer reviews, Advantage Car Rental in Miami presents considerable challenges that make it an unsuitable choice for many locals in Florida, especially when compared to the expectations of a professional and straightforward car rental experience. The recurring themes of deceptive location advertising, hidden fees tripling the quoted price, non-existent signage, unavailable pre-booked vehicles, issues with vehicle compliance (e.g., expired tags), and severely lacking customer service (including unhelpful phone lines and long queues) collectively paint a picture of a service that could lead to significant frustration, wasted time, and unexpected financial burdens for Florida residents.
For Floridians who value transparency, efficiency, and reliable service, these reported issues directly contradict what one would seek in a local business partner. The risk of encountering a "scam" or experiencing "horrible service" as described by actual customers suggests that while the address is in Miami, the operational practices may not align with the needs and expectations of a local community seeking dependable transportation solutions. Therefore, based purely on available public data and customer reviews, locals are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider alternative car rental providers if they value their time, safety, and money.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place was plainly a scam. Our experience included:- I booked with Advantage on Expedia, which represented the rental location as at the airport, as did Google maps. It was located a half mile walk from the airport car rental center, and my pregnant wife and I had to climb over multiple barriers and cross busy streets without cross walks to get there.- There was absolutely no signage for Advantage at the rental location, inside or out (see photo of the outside). We first asked the rental company that shared the building with them. They weren't sure and directed us next door.- We still managed to arrive exactly after our pick-up time. However, the person at the counter told us that we had to arrive within an hour to claim our car, and that they no longer had it. Notably, we saw no other customers when entering or exiting the building, who might have just picked up our vehicle.- He then directed us to call Expedia to seek a refund. I spent nearly two hours on the phone, during which time they told me to call Advantage car rental back. At this point, I learned that the number listed here is incorrect: It routes you to a company in Orlando that could not provide me a number for the Miami location.I strongly advise against renting with this company if you value your time, safety, and money.
Jan 03, 2025 · Will Dorsey EdenWISH I WOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING! DIFFERENT LOCATION SAME HORRIBLE SERVICE. There SOOO many extra hidden fees. Customers were coming in and leaving upset. The line was long. Everyone was becoming upset because they were told 1 price when booking, then when you get there, it's more than 3x the cost. The address that's listed isn't the physical location. I had to call the shuttle company just to get the physical address in order to return the car. There are multiple names under the same car rental. They initially gave me a car with an expired tag. Had i not noticed, i may have been stopped. I don't know what they got going on. But i will definitely not be back.
Mar 11, 2025 · labritne EdwardsHidden fees, horrible location far from the airport, tried charging me over $1,000 when Expedia already charged me $632 with insurance. Ended up cancelling the rental. Hertz is cheaper $90 day or Turo. DO NOT rent from this company ever.
Dec 27, 2024 · Brad JepsonThis company does not know where it is going or even where they want to go. They are completely lost when it comes to rewarding, motivating, compensating and even terminating workers. They tried to open a location in Miami and could not get the branch running, customers are still struggling to book reservations into a ghost branch—scamming all renters. Amateur executives—lap dogs of the owner and the VP —yes men—struggling to find out how to restructure the company after being bankrupt 3 times; this tells you what type of company this is, one with no sense of direction.
Apr 08, 2025 · Richard HerreraZERO stars! Customer service horrible. Fees added on last minute hiking up the price. Counter lady was okay, but the lady who gave me the keys in the parking garage was TERRIBLE. Attitude with eye rolling and neck rolling included. PLUS, attached are photos of the actual car they gave me. Extensive damage before I even drove off the lot. Disgusting representation of a company dealing with paying customers. I requested a different car. Was told there were none, then they found one, but it was "already rented to someone else". Umm... Why wouldn't I receive the car of my choice since I was there in person at that moment? You're saving a decent car for a different customer who was not there at the time, who may or may not even show up at all. Even if this was THE ONLY car avail, I couldn't even get a discount or an upgrade because of the condition of this car??? I was told for an upgrade, to go all the way back up to the office at the airport for the upgrade, but that I would have to pay for it.Fog light missing, hub cap missing, scratches all along the back bumper, large scratches and gashes along the R and L back corners, scratch and dent on drivers side doors, plus the car was FILTHY, as pictured. Again, an absolute DISGUSTING representation of a company dealing with paying customers. This shows what they really think of their customers. I wouldn't use this company again even if the car was free.
