Advantage Rent A Car Introduce
Hello, fellow Georgians! When planning travel, whether for business or leisure, securing reliable transportation is often a top priority. For many of us, particularly when flying in or out of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), car rental services are a necessity. This article provides a comprehensive and factual overview of Advantage Rent A Car, located directly at the Atlanta Airport's Rental Car Center. Our goal is to equip you with clear, engaging, and honest information, drawing heavily on real customer experiences, to help you make an informed decision for your car rental needs in Georgia.
Advantage Rent A Car operates as part of the broader car rental ecosystem, aiming to provide competitive rates. However, like any service at a major international airport, the experience can vary greatly. By examining their location, general service offerings, and critically, the detailed feedback from real customers, we aim to give you a complete picture of what you might expect when considering Advantage Rent A Car at ATL.
Advantage Rent A Car is located at 2200 Rental Car Center Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30337, USA. This address places them directly within the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport's Consolidated Rental Car Center (RCC). This is a purpose-built facility designed to streamline the car rental process for airport travelers.
Accessibility to the RCC is generally straightforward from the airport terminals. Upon arrival at the domestic terminal, passengers can follow signs to the SkyTrain, a free automated people mover, which provides a direct and quick ride to the Rental Car Center. This eliminates the need for individual shuttles from each rental agency, common at many airports. For those arriving at the international terminal, shuttle bus services connect directly to the RCC. While the location itself is convenient for airport arrivals, the customer reviews suggest that ease of access to the counter or vehicle once there can be a separate issue. The RCC is a busy hub, and while designed for efficiency, peak times can test the system.
Like most car rental companies at major airports, Advantage Rent A Car typically offers a range of services designed for travelers. Based on general industry practices and information available, you might expect the following:
- Vehicle Fleet: Advantage generally offers various vehicle classes, from economy and compact cars to mid-size sedans, SUVs, and minivans. The aim is usually to provide options for different budget levels and passenger capacities. However, customer reviews indicate that specific make/model reservations may not always be honored, and the condition of vehicles can vary significantly.
- Flexible Rental Durations: They offer rentals for various periods, from daily to weekly and potentially longer, catering to both short business trips and extended vacations.
- Insurance and Protection Options: Standard for the industry, Advantage offers various optional protection products, such as Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and liability coverage, which customers can purchase to supplement their personal insurance.
- Fuel Options: Renters typically have options for refueling the vehicle, such as returning it with a full tank, purchasing a full tank upfront, or allowing the company to refuel at a per-gallon service charge.
- 24-Hour Return: Given its airport location, Advantage at ATL offers 24-hour vehicle drop-off, which is convenient for early morning departures or late-night arrivals.
It is important to approach the "Features / Highlights" for Advantage Rent A Car at the Atlanta Airport with careful consideration, as customer reviews reveal significant concerns that contrast with typical promotional points.
- Location within the Rental Car Center (Potential Convenience): Being part of the ATL Rental Car Center theoretically offers streamlined access via the SkyTrain from the airport terminals. This integrated approach is designed for efficiency.
- Competitive Pricing (Initial Hook): Advantage often appears to offer low initial prices on booking platforms, which can be a primary draw for budget-conscious travelers. However, this is heavily countered by allegations of price discrepancies and hidden fees at the counter.
Now, let's delve into the significant and concerning "features" highlighted by real customer reviews, which are critical for any potential renter in Georgia to be aware of:
- Long Wait Times: Multiple reviews indicate prolonged waiting periods, sometimes an hour or more, to pick up reserved vehicles, suggesting understaffing or inefficient processes.
- Aggressive Upselling of Unnecessary Insurance: A prominent issue raised is the alleged attempt to "scam me into buying insurance I don't need," leading customers to call their own agents for reassurance. This is a serious red flag for potentially deceptive sales tactics.
- Vehicle Discrepancies and Poor Condition: Customers report not receiving the reserved make/model (e.g., Nissan instead of Hyundai) and encountering vehicles with "so many damages" including dents and stains. This raises concerns about fleet maintenance and vehicle assignment practices. The refusal to swap a damaged vehicle, even when similar models were available, is also a significant issue.
- Lack of On-Site Manager/Support: Attempts to escalate issues, such as asking for a manager at the lot, reportedly resulted in long waits with no resolution, indicating a lack of immediate customer support for critical problems.
- Vehicle Safety Concerns: A warning light for a non-working tail light on a vehicle immediately after pickup is a severe safety concern, highlighting potential neglect of pre-rental vehicle checks. The inability to easily report such a problem while on the road is also alarming.
- Price Gauging / Hidden Fees (based on other locations, but indicative): While the provided reviews for ATL specifically mention initial price vs. final price discrepancies and demands for high deposits ($750) from another location (Jacksonville), this reflects a potential brand-wide pattern of "bait and switch" pricing. This suggests that the initially "good price" might be inflated at the counter with unstated fees.
- Unresponsive Communication: Allegations of being unable to reach the company for problems while on rental (e.g., non-working tail light) and being given "10 different numbers to Zelle money to because they’re all fraudulent" (from a non-ATL review, but pointing to potential systemic issues) indicate severe problems with customer support and financial transparency.
For direct inquiries or to confirm any details before making a reservation, you can reach Advantage Rent A Car at the Atlanta Airport using the following contact details:
- Address: 2200 Rental Car Center Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30337, USA
- Phone: (404) 761-4999
- Mobile Phone: +1 404-761-4999
Their operational hours at the Atlanta Airport location are typically Monday-Sunday: 7 AM - 10 PM, with 24 Hour Drop-off available. Given the significant customer concerns highlighted, it is especially critical to exercise extreme caution and diligence when communicating with them, particularly regarding pricing, insurance, and vehicle condition. Document everything.
For residents of Georgia, especially those utilizing the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Advantage Rent A Car's location within the Consolidated Rental Car Center might initially appear convenient due to its direct SkyTrain access. The promise of competitive pricing can also be an initial draw.
However, based on the highly detailed and alarming feedback from multiple real customers, the suitability of Advantage Rent A Car for locals becomes highly questionable. The pervasive issues reported, including excessive wait times, aggressive and potentially deceptive sales tactics regarding insurance, receiving damaged or unsuitable vehicles, lack of on-site managerial support, and even significant safety concerns with vehicle malfunctions, paint a picture of an unreliable and potentially problematic service provider. The additional reports of alleged "price gauging" and demands for unusually high deposits at other locations also contribute to a pattern of distrust.
While a local might be looking for a budget-friendly option, the potential for a "horrible" and "stressful" experience, as described by customers, could far outweigh any initial savings. For Georgians, prioritizing peace of mind, transparent pricing, vehicle safety, and reliable customer support is paramount. Therefore, while Advantage Rent A Car is physically present at a convenient location, the overwhelming negative customer experiences strongly suggest that locals should proceed with extreme caution, thoroughly document every aspect of their rental, and perhaps consider other, more reputably reviewed rental agencies at the ATL airport to ensure a smooth and safe journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1At the Atlanta, GA Airport: Customer service was terrible! I had to wait 1 hour to pick up my car. The person at the counter tried to scam me into buying insurance I don't need. I had to call my insurance agent to reassured me that I don't need their insurance. I had reserved a Nissian, but when I finally got a car, it was a Hundai. It was all dented up. I've never seen so many damages with a rental car! I was very worried that I will be blamed for damages. I had to thoroughly document all of the dents and stains outside and inside the car. I also took pictures. There were the same make and model cars parked in the lot so I asked to take another car and the woman at the counter refused to give me another car, saying that it was reserved for someone else. Why is that reserved, but I had to wait for my car? Others ahead of me had to wait also. I asked for the manager at the lot, I waited for another 1/2 hr and no one came. I still had to drive to Columbus, GA (Almost a 2 hr drive) so I couldn't wait any longer. On my way to the hotel, the warning light went on. It was because the one of the tail lights wasn't working! There no number to report a problem so I had to take my chances for the next two days. The only thing that worked out as expected was the ease of return. DO NOT rent a car from Advantage at the Atlanta, GA Airport!
May 29, 2019 · Rene BenderAbsolutely HORRIBLE. Do NOT go to this company, especially the JACKSONVILLE location that’s close to the airport. Saw a good price on Priceline, went there so hyped to get a car. First red flag, they requested 750$ deposit. WHAT? are y’all insane? NOOO other company does this.. why on god’s green earth would y’all rinky dink azzes think y’all can? Then he tells me that my initial price of $152 has to jump to $198 because the air shifted 75 degrees left and the the taxes and fees pissd the governor Ron off…. How in the heck is the price jumping and bumping for absolutely no reason? Why get me all the way over here under false pretenses/prices? Had i not had another source of transportation, I would’ve had to suffice with this bogus price gauging: i told him to GTH and left immediately .DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS U WANT TO BE PRICE GAUGED!!!
Jan 08, 2025 · Chy ChyThis had to be the WORST experience ever... we arrived at the Atlanta airport around 9am... after getting to the counter to get the car we reserved (the counter experience wasn't the worst but not the best customer service either).we go down then back up to retrieve our car.1st car check engine light on2nd car was like a matchbox3rd car we finally get to drive off the lot..(this is after 2 hours spent with this company) we were going down the freeway we her a big snap we were thinking something hit the car no no no.. it the window panel flying off... we had to ride down the freeway holding it so it wouldn't come completely off and we were to blame.I called the ONLY number they have no direct number fir me to waist another 30 saying we had to take the car back to the airport. keep in mind we have been in Atlanta for 5 hours and 2 of them was already spent with this company... we get back to the counter the customer lady was very nice & funny (the ONLY good thing)4th vehicle LOL.. a joke... that car ran so loud.. it needs a rotate and balance of the tires...we came to the conclusion that they do not service these vehicles because no rental car should give anyone this much trouble...ALL VEHICLES WE INSPECTED FOR USE WERE SCRATCHED UP LIKE A SUBWAY...our return day.. the check in lady was so rude we couldn't do anything but LAUGH because we had to be on a TV show to see if we would crack under pressure...our bill was charged an extra 63 and we were trying to see why.. we asked to speak with a supervisor after waiting 30 mins he said he would call in 30 mins.. Feb 11, 2019 · brooke millerCRIMINAL RACKET. Advantage rented me an UNSAFE vehicle at the Atlanta Hartsfield Intl airport and are involved in a RACKET to get their customers to pay for worn tires. The tread on both front tires of the Dodge Caravan we rented was worn flat. We didn't think to look at the tread when we were inspecting it because we assumed we were getting a safe car. We rented the car on a thursday. By Sunday morning we found the driver side tire separated from the wheel causing the tire to completely deflate. This was not a slow leak caused from a nail. Advantage does NOT provide a spare and jack so we had to tow it to a local repair shop. At the repair shop, we did not find a nail when they filled it with air. Lf and Rf Tread depth was measured at 1/32nds. As I inspected the wheel when it was on the lift, the tire literally separated from the wheel, which caused a loud POP and BLEW IN MY FACE. I am lucky i didn't lose an eye. We had to buy a new tire. We brought the ruined tire to the Advantage rental and the manager went to look at it. When he returned, he showed me a NAIL lodged into the tire. It was so new it was SPARKLING SILVER. As if somehow the professionals at the repair shop missed it. Since this "proved" they didn't rent me an unsafe car, he offered me a 20% discount for my trouble. You have got to be an idiot to think this MANAGER working Sunday December 22nd around 4PM, didn't try to swindle me. In addition, when we returned the car my partner got out to show the woman inspecting the car the ruined tire. We watched her go inside the car to look at the speedometer. When my partner went back in to collect his things, his cell phone that had been sitting in the center consul was GONE. We spent 20 minutes frantically looking for it. We had already been through enough that day trying to catch our flight. It wasn't until the manager came back to show me the nail in the tire at the office, did they miraculously find the cell phone! BOTH THE MANAGER AND THE INSPECTOR ARE CRIMINALS. I will be reporting this to government watch dogs, the police, my attorney. And I expect a full refund and reimbursement for the cost of the new tire. See photos attached to see the front worn out tire verses the rear tire.
Sep 07, 2020 · Sara NessonOne agent doing EVERYTHING. The line was brutal. We might have saved a few bucks in the rental. But I’ll never submit myself nor my family to an hour and a half of waiting even with a reserved and confirmed reservation. Worst wait ever. And the sign to go find the outdoor kiosk is terrible. It’s confusing and it’s not clear. “You get what you pay for”, I suppose! First and last time I’ll rent from this company.
