I didn't know they are not Better business bureau accredited because we used them in August 2024 with no issues. Avis was NOT going for a repeat performance. When I got in the car the steering wheel was sticky, there was trash in the car and it sneaked like someone dumped an ashtray in it. I called them with my concerns and they said 'the best we can do is take 20% off'. Was it? Do you think they took that 20% off? No. A week later I return the car at the airport where I picked it up. There were no spaces in the section marked 'Avis' and I parked in a spot about 20 feet away. There was no one at the booth or counter at 5:30 am but two random guys were standing there one with an Avis uniform. He said 'Do you want to return your car?' I said yes. I gave him the key got no receipt and took no pictures. OMG. All I could think about was boarding my flight and then my worst nightmare began. I got an email and certified letter from Avis (they charged me $60 for this letter) DEMAND FOR RETURN OF OVERDUE VEHICLE. What overdue vehicle? I called customer service, and they said no one 'closed the account' at the Pittsburgh location so the car was listed as missing. I got a text from Avis 37 days later saying your car has been checked in. Glad they found it. They think they are entitled to all their money after terrorizing me. If you like smelly cars, being terrorized, and being overcharged rent a car from this company. It's a NO from me.
May 01, 2025 · Ann GlackinThis is my third time renting a car from Avis. This time it was from Palm Beach airport lot. We got a free upgrade from a sedan to an SUV. I got notified the car was ready for pickup as soon as my flight landed. Finally I had earned their trust after two previous successful rentals. The car was parked at the designated spot, key was inside, it was very clean. The car served us well without any issues for four days. Drop off was super easy, took the car to designated return area, an associate scanned bar code and I was all set. This rental experience was with bare minimum interaction with the staff.To get to the lot we had to take shuttle from the airport. They have plenty of shuttles running, one comes every 5-8 minutes. The lot is less than 5 minutes away. During drop off, I also got on a shuttle within 5 minutes of leaving the car.So far it’s been a great experience renting from Avis. I have accumulated enough points to get free days, discounted rates and free upgrades. I’ll keep renting from them to keep stacking up my rewards.
Nov 16, 2024 · Nehal AhmedTerrible! The security blocked the entrance with his car intentionally so no customer can enter and he went to sleep. I had to go wake him up so he will remove his car. I was almost late to my flight because of him. Also, there was no bus available. I had to pay for uber.
May 03, 2025 · Nazym ZabikhZero stars! This was the worst rental car experience of my life. This office was from the 1980s. There was zero technology used in the check-in process and it was super slow. Their printers must have been 30 years old and printed out pages with perforated edges. Check in took us about 45 minutes. Our car was not ready for us when we arrived and they had to take a van that was just returned, over to the car wash, and the man checking us in was the one that went to clean it…obviously they were very understaffed. When we got the van, we opened up the trunk and it was still filled with sand. The van itself was fine during our week of vacation. The actual return on premise was very easy. I pulled in parked the car. Left the keys in the car as instructed and loaded onto the shuttle. I never received an E receipt from Avis. However, I did receive a text from them saying that I was three days late in returning my car. Obviously this was very disconcerting. I called Avis and had to speak to three different representatives, and the last one told me that they were going to escalate a report to look for the missing car. I was livid and told her there is no missing car. I returned it!!! It took 24 hours for them to send me a legitimate receipt and there were extra charges on the receipt none of which were explained at check-in. The reason I went with Avis was because I thought they were trusted company. I will never rent with them again.
Apr 29, 2025 · CP StaffMy recent and very first experience with Avis was a complete nightmare. I flew in from Atlanta to the PBI location at the airport. Upon my arrival from the Avis bus I was advised that Avis had no vehicles although I had booked my rental in advance via Expedia. I was told by the front desk that since I booked with the a 3rd party they could not guarantee me a vehicle. Why would the 3rd party allow me to book a reservation and PREPAY for it if there was not going to be a car available. The parking lot was filled with vehicles at the time of my arrival as well. I booked a luxury car for 3 days and was traveling with a 8 month old and my teenage daughter. After waiting for at least an hour we were told that they had a car(it was the same car that a customer had just returned with a complaint of the vehicle smelling like smoke(Marijuana). After receiving that vehicle back they thought it was ok to give me that car after it needed to be taken off the lot. The audacity and unprofessionalism of a company to do such a nasty thing. I declined the vehicle upon opening the door and smelling the smoke which was in the cloth seats of the car. I requested that they give me a vehicle in better condition. They then came back 30 minutes later with another car which had tire issues that I was not aware of. I took the vehicle not knowing the issue and drove to my destination. The next day I took that vehicle back for a swap..... long on behold they claim to have had a luxury vehicle on hand... blindly and misleading me again issued me another car in even worst condition than the last one. TERRIBLE condition. The vehicle was dirty inside and out had a lot of mileage on it that DID NOT match the reservation receipt at least 30k miles more AND the rear view mirror was broken and tires were low on tread. Totally unsafe for me and my family, I came back in and told front desk the vehicle was in TERRIBLE condition and was told that's all they had. I had no choice as I needed transportation traveling with a child so I took the car . Avis needs to understand that as a consumer we are paying for a safe ,clean and reliable vehicle and no one should have had the experience that I had. I was not the only customer having trouble that day as one customer was on there second swap as the cars had a tire issues and battery died. PLEASE SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN and DO NOT USE THEM I REPEAT! THEY WILL ROB YOU AND MAKE YOU JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK OF FILE A COMPLAINT
