I was clear with the gentleman checking us in that we had several bags as well as a young child and car seat to unload and wanted to wait a moment for the rain to stop or ease up. He told me to go park somewhere else... where am I supposed to go? He could just as easily have said okay no problem I'll check back in a bit.This experience soured us on Avis and the Colorado Springs Airport rental process. A little patience and understanding would have made for a perfect interaction and positive end to our vacation.

Have rented from this location and had a good experience only to have a terrible one a few months later.Rented a minivan on a 1 way rental to bring my kid home from university, as I am boarding the flight I get a notification via the Avis app on my phone of what my car is and how to pick it up as an Avis Preferred member. Give it a quick look and it's a hybrid, perfect, I have a long drive ahead and this will save me money. Land in CO Springs and I have another notice indicating our car was changed....okay that is new. Go to the counter get our keys and head to the car....initial thoughts cannot be printed here....Walk back inside and need an explanation for why I have been given a trashed out junker minivan. I am told by the person at the counter (no idea of her name many months later) that only certain cars can be "one way rentals" and that is all they have. I take it but am utterly disappointed and disgusted. First stop...Wal Mart so I can buy wipes to clean the inside of the car...it's that bad. Use the car and get home no issues.Go to drop the car off at our local airport and the staff there nearly loose their (stuff) over how disgusting the car is. Say they are going to charge me a cleaning fee so I pull out my phone and show them the photos and videos we took of the car at pickup. They just shake their heads and sign the car in. In passing I ask them if there are rules on what cars can/cannot be one way rentals; their response....not that we are aware of. In other words this location just wanted to get rid of a trashed out car and decided to pawn it off on another Avis location via a one way rental.Given I travel to Colorado Springs regularly I will give this location another chance, but if a similar situation occurs again I'll find another rental agency when traveling here.

When I went to check in the lady behind the counter days "you got lucky, you got the car you reserved.". Ummm..... I got lucky???? I reserved that type of car. She just have meant they got lucky they have the car I reserved. Anyhow, to tried to start a conversation with her.Went to my car after trucking two large suitcases to A22. See this sign on the door that says $450 fine for smoking fee and get the car stinks of smoke. Unbelievable!!!!I was too tired to deal with that lady so I went to the hotel.Next day, I called and called but no one answered. Don't have time to waste dealing with a company that obliviously doesn't follow their own rules nor do they pick up their phones.I'm put with it but shouldn't have had to. I mean for $650 you think I could get a decent car. I'm there for a competition with my child.... If I ever come back never again.

They gave me another car, a Ford, under a new rental agreement. This car was filthy with two large cracks in the windshield, never vacuumed, and dirty seats. AVIS employee Carlos acknowledged the car’s poor condition and took me to their car wash. The manager was upset at Carlos for bringing me there and at one point handed a spray can to clean the interior myself. After cleaning the inside of the car myself, I went to the AVIS counter.I then spoke to Monica at the AVIS counter about the windshield cracks and the dirty car. She was extremely rude, stating they don’t care about the cracks and couldn’t do anything about the interior. When asked to log the car’s condition, she reluctantly agreed after initially refusing.This entire ordeal cost me 4-5 hours of my vacation time away from family and activities. AVIS’s lack of management, accountability, and customer service is unacceptable.

I tried to call this location for 2 days to have the car delivered to the local FBO (most airport locations do this for preferred customers) on the second day when someone at the location finally answered the phone they said they could not deliver the car because it was short notice (2 days). Once I received a ride to the location they made all customers go to the main counter, normally preferred can go to a satellite office or kiosk and go straight to the car. To their credit they did "upgrade" me to a convertible Mustang, the praise ends there. The car was filthy. You had to drop the top so you could see out of the side and rear of the car. If I didn't receive so many points because my employer uses them I would find another rental company.
