And after viewing all of the issues (which I took pictures of), maybe you will agree.First and foremost, I understand that it was a holiday weekend and rentals were scarce. However, this is NOT an excuse for ANY rental company to offer their customers subpar vehicles.Here are a list of my issues:1. The rep at the counter made it a point to tell me to return the car with a full tank, but as soon as I got in, the tank was half full. (See pic, compare mileage)2. As soon as I got home, the low tire pressure light came on (I live 12 minutes from the airport-see pic). It was the front right tire. Upon further inspection, a literal chunk of the tire was missing. Over the course of the time we had this car, we had to carry a portable tire pump to inflate the tire at the end of every day. So much for convenience.3. The second day, the check engine light came on. Amazing! (See Pic for reference). The last thing I expect to do with a rental is to worry about it breaking down and putting my safety in danger.4. Dirty. All surfaces were sticky and car smelled bad (the air coming out of the ac). Also, when putting the back seats into their upright position, a spring flew out towards my face- is this even normal ?You gave me the worst car on the lot and apparently think it makes sense to send me a bill for this amount.Your vehicle was untrustworthy, dangerous and should be removed from your fleet to have maintenance performed on it immediately. Please stop putting the lives of your customers at stake due to your carelessness

After a brief conversation, we realized that we had both been assigned the same car, my reservation was through the app, while hers was a manual assignment. I had to return to the counter to be assigned another vehicle, which was an inconvenience in itself.The newly assigned vehicle appeared to be clean and in great condition from the outside. However, as soon as I opened the door, I was hit with the strong odor of marijuana. Initially, I thought perhaps the scent was residual from someone who had recently cleaned it, so I let the car air out and proceeded with my day.Throughout the first day, the smell would come and go, but by the second day, it became overwhelmingly strong. I contacted your office immediately to report the issue, as I am not a smoker and wanted to ensure this was documented so I would not be held liable for any damage or violation. By day three, the odor had worsened significantly. When I called again, I was advised that I could return the car for a swap—but the nearest Avis location was over an hour away, making it extremely difficult and impractical.The situation escalated when I was driving a guest to church and a partially-smoked joint rolled out from under the passenger seat. This discovery was not only disturbing, but also dangerous.Riding in a vehicle that reeked of marijuana, especially while transporting church guests, was not only embarrassing but humiliating. This situation has caused emotional distress and put my personal and professional reputation at risk.

I prepaid online for a simple one-way overnight rental from JFK airport. Despite prepaying, I was forced to wait in line for over an hour just to pick up the car, thanks to severe understaffing.When I returned the vehicle to BDL airport 10 hours early, late at night, the representative assured me, "as long as you left the keys, you are good—have a good night, sir." Imagine my surprise when, three days later, I started receiving text alerts claiming my rental was overdue.Multiple calls to customer service were utterly useless. They opened a "case," instructing me to wait 10 days while they investigated. After waiting the full 10 days, my credit card was shockingly charged $601.Another frustrating call to customer service resulted in no resolution—they insisted I had to return in person. I spent another agonizing hour in line, plus 45 additional minutes waiting for a manager to review security camera footage. Only after this absurd inconvenience did they finally acknowledge that the footage clearly showed me returning the car on time.The inefficiency and inadequate staffing at both Avis locations were painfully obvious. No customer should endure hour-long waits and weeks of aggravation over something so simple. Save yourself the headache—rent elsewhere.

For a round trip to to JFK and back I had to fill only 8 gallons of gas, which was great! Sign up for their Avis Preferred for sure (free).
