Horrible experience- zero starsWhile the initial pickup and return shuttle to the airport were timely, that was unfortunately the only positive aspect of our experience.Upon arrival at the service counter, we were met with an unfriendly and visibly disinterested representative. Her attitude and lack of professionalism set a poor tone for the rest of our interaction. Sadly, things only deteriorated from there.The first vehicle we were assigned was in unacceptable condition — the exterior was filthy, the interior smelled strongly of marijuana, and there were food crumbs and visible stains throughout. Ironically, the car had a posted notice warning of a $450 cleaning fee if returned in poor condition — yet it was given to us in that state.We returned to the counter and requested a different vehicle. The next representative was more helpful and assigned us another car. However, as we attempted to leave, we discovered the windshield washer fluid was empty. When we pulled over to the cleaning area, the attendant explained the machine for refilling washer fluid was broken and proceeded to pour in water manually. Even after two gallons, the system still did not work — a clear safety issue. We were directed to return again for another vehicle.The third vehicle, too, reeked of marijuana. The fourth had a damaged windshield wiper — the blade was literally hanging off the arm. After nearly an hour running around the hot parking lot, tired from early travel, we were again met with dismissive and unhelpful comments like, "Sir, these are rental cars — they are not the best."We were simply asking for a basic, clean, safe vehicle — not luxury — just something roadworthy and without health hazards.The fifth vehicle finally seemed usable, though it had dents and wasn’t filled with gas. We had prepaid for fuel at $2.79/gallon, but were later charged $2.88/gallon. While a small discrepancy, it reflects the lack of consistency and attention to detail throughout this experience. On top of that, we were charged for 8 gallons of gas for just 100 miles — nearly double the actual usage.We have rented vehicles at many airports and travel frequently, but this was hands down the worst rental experience we’ve ever had — from poor customer service to unacceptable vehicle conditions. It was stressful, exhausting, and frankly unacceptable, especially considering the cost.We will not be using Budget again and hope you take this feedback seriously to improve your service and vehicle quality standards.

Never again! I waited in line over 1 1/2 hours to get my car and then they didn’t acknowledge my reservation that was booked through Flex pay. I had to cancel my reservation, put the amount on my card, and pay about $75 more for the SAME rental. Zero out of 5 stars! Wouldn’t recommend!Update: I emailed them and their response is below. How does that help me at all??? I rented a Premium SUV at Budget. I was expecting a "premium" grade of SUV. I actually received an old "Ford Expedition" which has 52K miles on it. I was driving for 15 minutes and realized that the car had a wheel balance issue. The rear wheels were shaking really bad when driving above 60 mph. I had to return to exchange for another vehicle. For the second vehicle, I received another Ford Expedition ( 33K miles) while there are many Suburbans, Wagoneers on the parking lot.When I returned the vehicle, no one mentioned about any trash or littering inside the car as I always try to take out as many trash as I can when returning it. Now I'm charge with $250 for cleaning services. I'm still waiting for Budget to reply with photo and proof for all the mess in the car they claimed. I will definitely not want to rent with this company any more. I never have any issue with other car rental like Enterprise or Alamo. Please try to rent with others until you run out of option then you can try Budget. Make sure you take good pictures of the car when returning it because they will make any reasonable claim for additional money.

Had an example of fantastic customer service today from Ms. Alicia Williams at the Budget Fastbreak counter. Ms. Williams was unbelievably fast and courteous resolving my mistaken car rental. I inadvertently booked a car out of George Bush airport, but flew into Hobby. This sort of mistake would normally take forever to rectify. Ms. Williams said "No problem!" and literally had me in an actual (correct) car in 2 minutes. I have had 100's of rental car customer service interactions and this one was el numero uno. Budget has let me down or dragged me through an ordeal numerous times -- but not today! Thank you to Ms. Alicia and to whoever gave her the technology to make this happen!

The line was a little over 2 hours, and they did not have the size car we reserved fine, its busy. But my husband had to pay and extra 100 and upgrade to get a car we didnt need for 2 people anyways, or he was asked to wait longer to have one ready...This was from 5:18pm and he was finally in the car by 7:40pm.m on a Saturday. I think this is important information so people can make time to wait.
