We then took the car rental shuttle (+) to the car rental facility; the driver engaged everyone to sing "The Wheels On the Bus" (LOL).The lines to the respective rental choices weren't long; but the process & wait was. For the most part of the 65-minute line wait, there was only one (1) Budget rep assisting us. If lunch or restroom break was calling to her (sad smh); and honestly, the waiting clients were rather patient without vocal complaints.Eventually, the rep (Mr Andre) sitting in front of the Avis logo began assisting. He was cheery and tried to explain the paperwork expeditiously - while not trying to confuse one. You really don't have much time to "read" all the MUCH paperwork; but we were prepared with all necessary documentation and were on our way within 10-mins. At the garage, we were greeted and assisted by Ms Tianna (this lady works hard, but keeps up a good personality👍🏽); who also helped me navigate the buttons, knobs, & know-hows of the mini-SUV (W-Class . The tank was not on full and she informed me to notify Ms Linda at the exit gate; which I did. Exiting was smooth.NOTE: Always take a picture (with date/time stamp) of the mileage, fuel gauge, and any vehicle/tire bruises).I will NOTE that I'd prefer to have the rental documentation upon signing paperwork BEFORE leaving the countertop. When I received the documentation & receipt, upon rental return it annotated that the vehicle was on a full tank and the mileage was way below what my photo showed.

Wish we had done this before reserving from them. Finally got the van. So late.Because of the reviews, I took pictures of it before leaving the facility- odometer and condition (muddy on the outside). We were, of course, in a rush on the return. We did not get a chance to take condition pictures. Now we get a letter saying we owe $450 for cleaning. There was nothing wrong with this vehicle that a typical vacuum and car wash would not take care of. This is something they should do on all the cars before renting in the first place. Ours was not clean.So looks like we now get to go through the process of challenging this BOGUS charge. We will NEVER rent from Budget again

I returned my car in perfect condition and only regret not taking photos as I had to drop it off at 5am in the morning to catch a flight home out of Midway. Strangely enough, the charge came marked out of Virginia Beach VA and now shows up out of Chicago. I've contested this ridiculous charge and hope to get a fair resolution. I recommend NEVER using this rental agency and will only amend my remarks if I receive a FAIR RESOLUTION of a BOGUS CHARGE!UPDATE! After multiple emails, phone calls, and exchanges, I finally reached a supervisor who took one look at the "evidence" of extreme smoke smell and burns and rightfully identified it as BOGUS and authorized a full refund of the $450 charge. For that, I'm relieved and thankful but all this came after DAYS of anger and stress. I'm still shocked that a supposedly legit company would allow this to happen. I told the supervisor to please follow up with the Midway site where I'm assuming someone tried to get away with this. In the documentation sent to me, there is the ID of the person reporting this. I hope the company follows up to punish or fire those responsible. For anyone planning to rent out of Midway airport in Chicago, BEWARE. I'm adding the report here as a record just in case someone else has to go through the same terrible experience. Really shameful. Will never use this company again even though someone competent and in charge finally helped me get a refund.
Jun 06, 2025 · BrianThis is a bit of a weird review. The pricing for the vehicle we rented and the vehicle was fine. However, the agent working the counter was one of THE worst customer service reps I have ever encountered. And, he wasn't rude at all. However, it was clear from the interaction that the gentleman either hated the job or hated his life. He had ZERO personality. He had ZERO skills with being amicable or friendly. When I asked him a question about one of his statements he repeated his answer with a louder and firmer tone. When I declined the fuel upcharge, he told me that I would be responsible for bringing the fuel receipt to the counter to prove that I fueled the car up before returning it. I have NEVER had to show proof of fill up. That's now it works at midway anyway, they have attendants check the cars in and verify mileage, damages, and fuel. The agent, not sure if he was AVIS or Budget, he was the only one there for both. He wasn't rude, just really bad attitude. I see many reviews stating similar reviews. If that is the type of customer service that Budget/Avis wants to promote their brand, they have failed. For me, the experience was so negative that I will NOT be using budget for any future trips to Chicago.
