While customer experiences can vary, as highlighted by reviews concerning debit card holds, vehicle condition, and potential "bait and switch" tactics, these points underscore the importance of being a well-informed renter. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Do not rent at this location! Staff was nice but they hold $500 on your card for Debit. $200 on your card for credit. And like an idiot I didn’t inspect the car before I got in and somehow missed this. They gave me a car with a bad tire. Now I’m afraid to drive around on it.Update: they have no proof that the car was like this when I got it so they’re saying it’ll be $100 extra for someone to come out and change the tire or tow it to a tire shop where I’d have to pay for the new tire.
Jul 16, 2025 · Kye The CreatorBEWARE of these guys latest scam tactic! Bait and switch trick once again. I booked a compact car under special prepaid through hotwire at $32/day (Special Car, Compact size or larger but priced low like a compact) Well once at the counter, they guy told me that for the 'special' was for an electric car and that I had to pay $18/day extra if I wanted a fuel car since my reservation did not specify a "Fuel" car. So, if you value your hard earned money stay away from these crooks! To top it off rental car was also dirty and dinged, see for yourself on the pics..
Jul 02, 2025 · Rob CuevasThey say, “You get what you pay for”, and this was apparent with Dollar/Thrifty RDU. Cheap rates doesn’t always equal to good customer service.Where do I start at? First off, the owner needs to provide adequate training to Operations Manager down to the shuttle drivers and car washers. I’ll be filing a BBB complaint as soon as I return my vehicle.Airport Shuttle - Drivers need to learn to say “Bus is full”. The drivers kept loading people onto buses until they were standing right at door. Safety hazard? A guitar came out the luggage compartment and hit someone who then fell into someone sitting down. And the bus driver didn’t stop to check or rearrange the luggage and guitar.Upon arrival at the Thrifty/Dollar/Hertz Car Rental Center, we arrived to a line circling inside and outside the location (see pictures). There was no one present to welcome customers and explain Dollar/Thrifty to the left, Hertz to the right. Until you got in the door, you saw a small directional sign. Luckily, people up front were gracious enough to explain to those in the rear of the line.We waited in line for 1.5 hours (7:30pm - 9:00pm). When we arrived, the sun was out, however, when we left, it was dark.Initially Thrifty/Dollar only had ONE (1) person working their 2 seated counter until Hertz agents began helping out. Poor staffing and Management of resources. The Kiosks were not working, one looked broke, so even if you paid in full and just needed to pick up your car, you still had to wait in line.No dedicated Dollar Express or Thrifty Blue Chip Loyalty Lane or recognition at this location.I place no blame on the agents, as they were doing their job to the best of their ability. Would’ve been nice to see a member for the Management Team come out and explain and/or apologize for all the deficiencies.Car selection - We went through about 5 cars, until we found 1. First car we selected smelled like smoke, second car has ants crawling all over the inside, third car seats were stained and too dirty to sit in, fourth car smelled like smoke, and the fifth car just came from cleaning and we open the doors and there was an ant infestation inside the door causing the ants to scatter and drop inside the car. The detailer immediately took the car back to the service area. Some people were having problems with no immediate availability of the car class reserved and had to wait for cars/suv to be brought up.Some in line stepped out and found it was cheaper to Uber, or go over to another rental company. No compassion for children, pregnant women, or elderly folks standing and waiting for 1+ hours. Why did we stay? Because we used airline miles for our FREE rental and would lose our miles if we didn’t pick up the car.
Aug 16, 2024 · Allen bullardI would like to express my disappointment with a recent experience at your rental location. When I arrived to pick up my reservation, I realized I had forgotten my driver’s license. I asked if the rental could be placed under my spouse’s name instead. Despite my request, the representative at the desk repeatedly stated, “I asked her, she is the driver,” ignoring the fact that all the documentation—reservation, credit card, and insurance—was under my name. I found his behavior dismissive and unprofessional.Additionally, the vehicle provided was not properly cleaned, and the trunk space was insufficient. With the third row of seats in use, it could not accommodate even two standard-sized suitcases, which made our travel unnecessarily inconvenient. Because my rental was for car for 8 person and two luggage.
Jul 17, 2025 · Jose GuerreroI arrived to pick up a mid-sized truck I had reserved and prepaid for online, only to be told it wasn’t available. Rather than being offered a comparable vehicle—or even an upgrade—I was told my only option was a ¾-ton full-size pickup. When I asked for something smaller or equivalent, I was told I’d have to pay more, despite having already paid in full.Worse than the lack of options was the way I was treated. The counter attendant was dismissive, argumentative, and acted as if I were an inconvenience for simply asking for what I had paid for. I wasn’t offered solutions—just resistance and excuses. Being told the online price “doesn’t apply” in person is misleading at best. This experience was unprofessional and disappointing. I won’t be doing business with your company again.Thank you.
