★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I reserved a vehicle through my insurance. When I arrived to pick it up, the vehicle was not ready despite my calling ahead of time. From what I understand Enterprise's call center did not confirm details with the branch. The branch employees seemed nice but told me the car needed 10-15 minutes to be cleaned. 40 minutes later, the car was brought to me. The car was a crossover (not the standard size sedan I requested) and it was absolutely filthy, so I guess the 15-minute cleaning didn't get done after the 40 minutes I waited. The car also had a small crack in the windshield, multiple large scratches, and cigarette burns in the back seat. When I asked the employee if this was documented, she simply said it was wear and tear and not to worry about it. I wanted to complain, but after a 40-minute wait I simply wanted to drive home and take the painkillers I was prescribed for my car accident (the reason I was there to begin with). While driving home, I stopped by a gas station as the vehicle was provided with a half tank and I wanted to top off. As I was driving to the gas station, I heard a faint metallic noise coming from the right front wheel. At first, I thought maybe I was being paranoid but as I continued to drive the vehicle the noise did not fade. I called Enterprise support to complain about this and request switching the vehicles, and the person on the support line gave me an attitude when I described the issues to him (I described them as I did here). I was told that the local branches are closed for the night, and I could have the car towed and pick up another from a branch tomorrow or wait until the branches open and return the car myself. I told him that a branch was a few blocks away from my house, so I'd return it myself, the support seemed annoyed at this and acted like I was exaggerating about the vehicle's safety if I was willing to drive it a short distance. I'm no expert but it sounds like the wheel bearing in the front passenger side is going bad or is bad based on the sound I heard. Definitely disappointed with the service provided.EDIT/UPDATE:I was contacted by Enterprise to remedy the issue. They moved me into another vehicle which was in much better condition, but today I woke up to a $17.37 charge to my bank. My insurance covers charges up to $40 which I was told the car falls under. I contacted Enterprise through their website, and they told me to call. I called the provided help line, the tech on the phone said she saw the charges but didn't understand why they were there. The help tech then, without warning, forwarded me to the local branch. I then re-explained everything to the local branch and was told that my insurance covered the cost of the vehicle but not the taxes and that's the charge I was seeing. I asked why I wasn't informed of this either when I first picked up the car or when I picked up the replacement car, they had no answer other than "sorry" which isn't exactly ideal. Definitely would not recommend renting through Enterprise unless absolutely necessary, it's been an incredibly unpleasant experience.

In the past I never seemed to have a problem with renting from Enterprise or atleast nothing to really be upset about. The insanity of yesterday’s events have led me to post a review for the first time ever! I reserved a vehicle TWO WEEKS in advance for my son’s graduation! I received a call two days prior to pick up asking if I wanted to pick up for a closer location to where I live and I agreed, expecting them to do all of the necessary transferring of information, I was told to contact the Matteson location for my SUV pick up. I did and the gentleman looked and said Insee someone in your file so they must be doing your transfer now and he would call back when it was complete. 10 minutes later he called back and informed me they had no vehicles in my SUV bracket available I would have to keep the Orland Hills location so I said okay (the gentleman from Matteson was very nice and understanding). I called Orland Hills again to inform him of that and to make sure my reservation was still a go with a vehicle I needed (a 7 seater) and I was told yes. I received a call that evening confirming AGAIN my pick up for the next day. On the day of pick low and behold there is no vehicle for me and they were trying to place me in something in a 5 seater or less at full price no accommodations. I told the original reservation would need to be canceled and they would need to find me a location that had my vehicle and they would need to accommodate. They confirmed and wrote down all locations that had the vehicle we originally reserved and assured us he reached out to all locations to confirm the vehicle! We went to Glenwood .. no vehicle no call confirmation, Calumet City .. no vehicle no call confirmation .. Highland, IN .. no vehicle, no call confirmation (shout out to the male manager that worked the evening of 5/8/25 at the Highland location he was trying to help as much as he could and was willing to accommodate pricing, but no vehicle would accommodate the pricing and tenting two vehicles for the trip would have been wayyyy over budget). We then contacted Orland Hills location AGAINNNNNN and we were referred to the Midway Airport location. They connected us over to call center and Immediately asked for the head office or manager, I was told they could only send chats and he claimed to have sent a chat as I was on the phone for someone to contact me personally about an urgent matter (I assume if the message was sent at all it wasn't urgent enough because I still have yet to be contacted). The gentleman then made the reservation and stated I will be accommodated at my same price (mind you they say these calls are recorded so he will be heard saying it) and he notated my reservation about the accommodation. After an hour IN TRAFFIC we made it to the airport only to be told that they are reserving their SUVs for incoming flight guests and the reservation was set for a Mini Van and the absolutely do not do accommodations at the airport because the have newer vehicles than regular locations. So after all deposits and fees my total would be $1000+ which was almost $500 more than my original fees …. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The biggest insult to me in all of this was how everyone one was so quick to say “We completely understand and I am sorry you are going through this, but —“ while I traveled all over the Chicagoland area without so much as compensation for gas!!!!! The lack of care, concern, or responsibility on all of their parts (excluding the Matteson and Highland locations) was DIABOLICAL!!! Meanwhile they will go on about their days while I sit at home 800 miles away from my son who will be graduating tomorrow. If someone had a number to corporate I want it!!!!!! I used to think Enterprise was the best rental location, I don't think a positive thing of them now!

Mar 05, 2025 · Gemstones MommyThe rental process was somewhat convenient. My neighborhood Enterprise notified me a day early that the vehicle I requested would not be available at that location. I was directed to another Enterprise further away. I was assuredthat l would be able to return the vehicle to the one in my neighborhood with no penalty.Although it was an inconvenience it was doable.The staff oriented me to certain features, presented me with a clean vehicle and 2 key fobs. One fob was sluggish when trying to use it so l used the other one without hesitation. The next morning (5:00am) I'm ready to travel. I’m approximately 200 miles out of town, stop to go into a store. Upon returning to vehicle neither fob is working and I'm locked out. I used the manual key to reenter vehicle which sets off the horrendous loud alarm! Fobs will not allow me to start vehicle or turn alarm off and several curious pedestrians have all eyes on me!! I'm pressing fobs, start button and brake repeatedly! Finally the vehicle starts and alarms cease. I am now too scared to drive and especially turn vehicle off. I call Enterprise but no offices are open this early so l decide to keep driving towards my destination and will contact them when they open. Finally I phone the office, explaining problem. Now BOTH fobs need new batteries and staff offered to locate offices close to my position where I could go to have batteries replaced ( among other helpful suggestions). I googled an office close to my position( 10 miles in opposite directions). Staff nice but only had one battery available and that was fine with me. I lost a total of approximately 2 hours out of my travel which was a great inconvenience. I returned the vehicle to Enterprise a week later and shared my journey with the office manager ( after he asked "how was everything "). Не apologized for the inconvenience and offered a resolution (which I was pleasantly surprised as well as appreciative). I also highly recommended that the staff AND customers follow up immediately if key fobs are sluggish or present hesitation in functioning when using them. Much thanks to Enterprise Marcus, Ken ( Matteson and Steger locations)and entire team for accommodating, friendly and professional interactions. Although I was greatly inconvenienced I must say that Enterprise customer service during this stressful time was comforting and I did not feel abandoned ( especially since I was a female traveling alone for 12-14 hours). Enterprise will remain my number one choice!
