At their 36 S 19th St location, Enterprise aims to provide a variety of vehicle options to meet the diverse needs of individuals and families across Pennsylvania.
Whether you require a temporary vehicle while yours is in the shop, need extra space for a family trip to the Pennsylvania countryside, or are visiting the city for business or leisure, Enterprise Rent-A-Car strives to be a go-to choice. This article will delve into what you can expect from this specific Enterprise location, offering insights into its services, accessibility, and overall suitability for locals seeking convenient car rental solutions.
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch is situated at 36 S 19th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, USA. This central Philadelphia location places it within the bustling Center City district, making it highly accessible for those working or residing in the downtown area, Rittenhouse Square, and surrounding neighborhoods.
Its prime location offers excellent connectivity via public transportation. Numerous SEPTA bus routes run in close proximity, and the location is a short walk from major subway stations, including the 15th Street/City Hall complex, serving both the Broad Street Line and Market-Frankford Line. This makes it convenient for customers to reach the branch without needing a personal vehicle beforehand. For those arriving by car, while street parking in Center City can be challenging, the central location means it’s easily reachable from major arteries leading into Philadelphia. However, customers should be aware that after-hours return service is generally not available at this specific location, which is an important consideration for planning your rental period.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is known for its extensive range of services designed to accommodate various rental requirements. The 36 S 19th St location typically offers:
Diverse Vehicle Fleet: Customers can generally choose from a wide array of vehicle classes, including economy cars for fuel efficiency, compact and mid-size sedans for everyday use, full-size cars for more comfort, SUVs for family trips or extra cargo space, minivans for larger groups, and sometimes even premium or luxury vehicles for special occasions. The availability of specific models can vary, and it is often recommended to book in advance, especially for popular vehicle types like SUVs and minivans.
Short-Term and Long-Term Rentals: Whether you need a vehicle for a single day, a weekend getaway, a week-long vacation, or an extended period due to vehicle repairs or business needs, Enterprise provides flexible rental durations.
Damage Waiver (DW) Options: Enterprise offers Damage Waiver (DW) for an additional daily charge, which can reduce or waive the renter's financial responsibility for loss or damage to the rental vehicle. It's important for renters to understand that DW is not insurance and to review their existing personal auto insurance policies or credit card benefits for potential coverage duplication.
Additional Driver Options: Renters can typically add authorized additional drivers, such as a spouse or domestic partner, who meet the same age and driver’s license requirements. An additional daily charge may apply for other authorized drivers.
Online Reservations and App Functionality: Customers can conveniently book vehicles online through the Enterprise website or via their mobile app, often skipping counter lines and managing reservations digitally. Online booking also allows for comparing vehicle types and pricing ahead of time.
While Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a global brand, the experience at individual locations can vary. For the 36 S 19th St, Philadelphia branch, some notable features and aspects include:
Central Location Convenience: Its presence in Center City is a significant highlight for Philadelphia residents and business travelers. Being able to pick up a vehicle in a vibrant, accessible urban setting reduces the need to travel to airport locations, which can often be more time-consuming and expensive.
Variety of Vehicle Choices: As a standard Enterprise location, it strives to offer a broad selection of vehicles, catering to different budgets and travel requirements. This versatility is a key advantage for customers looking for specific car types, from economical models to more spacious options.
Pick-Up Service: While not universally available at all Enterprise branches, many neighborhood locations offer a "We'll Pick You Up" service, subject to certain conditions and within specific distances. This can be a considerable convenience for customers without immediate transportation to the rental office.
Enterprise Plus® Rewards Program: Frequent renters can benefit from the Enterprise Plus® program, earning points for qualifying rentals that can be redeemed for free rental days. This loyalty program offers incentives for repeat customers.
However, based on customer reviews provided, it's also important to acknowledge some areas where the customer experience at Enterprise, and potentially this location, might present challenges. These include:
Communication on Fees and Policies: Some customers have reported issues with a lack of clear communication regarding additional fees, such as charges for specific vehicle choices or after-hours returns. This highlights the importance of asking detailed questions and thoroughly reviewing rental agreements to avoid unexpected charges.
After-Hours Return Policy: It has been noted that after-hours return service is not available at this location, which can lead to complications for customers who encounter unforeseen delays. Planning your return within operational hours is crucial.
Customer Service Inconsistencies: While some reviews praise staff efficiency, others describe instances of unhelpful or unprofessional interactions, particularly when addressing customer concerns about billing or unexpected issues. This suggests a varied customer service experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Lack of communication on hidden fees.I rented my first vehicle ever from the 19th St. Enterprise in Center City, Philadelphia after my vehicle was getting work done (completely covered by insurance).Everything was well at first, as they called me to schedule pickup and asked what vehicle I wanted after giving me a sedan and truck option (that was it). I arrived to get the vehicle and they gave me an Audi truck, went over the basic information of returning it with gas and no damage, and had me on my way. After returning the vehicle, I was given a bill that included additional fees for the “choice” of vehicle and returning it “after hours”. Neither the fact that I would be charged more for a certain vehicle nor the fact that I would pay an additional fee if returning after a certain time was communicated to me. Had I known these things, I would have planned ahead. My mother’s card was used for the final bill, and after calling to ask about the charges, she was put on hold abruptly with no notice and had a “Tom”/“Tim”? guy laugh and snicker on the phone when she was calmly voicing her displeasure with the communication. I thought about going back to the location myself and confronting Tom/Tim or whoever and the regional manager, but I have not. Yet.Clearly unprofessional staff who purposely hides additional fees and lacks communication. The exact staff you would expect working at an Enterprise in Philadelphia- not being able to handle professionalism in a city and just there to get through the day.Update: the chat that Natalie responded to me with didn’t even work. Location was 36 S 19TH ST, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Apr 10, 2025 · Tyrese Marquis-BelfieldI recently rented a vehicle from Enterprise and had a mixed experience, starting at the PHL Airport location. Online, it showed that vehicles were available, but upon arrival, I was informed that the location wasn’t open and wouldn’t be issuing rentals. This was incredibly frustrating, as I had relied on the online information to plan my trip. With no other option, I had to take a $100 Uber to a nearby Enterprise location that luckily had vehicles in stock. While I was relieved to find a rental, the inconvenience and added expense were a significant setback.Returning the vehicle presented another challenge. I encountered unexpected traffic and realized I’d arrive just after the location’s closing time of 6:00 PM. I called ahead at 5:45 PM to let the staff know I’d be there at 6:00 or 6:05. The first employee I spoke with hesitated, saying, “We like to leave right at 6 if we can.” I explained my situation and pleaded for their help, and he eventually agreed to wait.As my GPS estimated an arrival of 6:02, I called again to confirm. This time, a different employee answered and said, “I’m not sure who you spoke with, but we’re not authorized to stay after hours.” When I clarified that I wasn’t asking for authorization, just confirming they’d stay until 6:05 as agreed, he reluctantly agreed. I arrived at 6:02, and while they did assist me, it felt like I was imposing on them for a service I had paid for.The situation highlighted a few key issues:1. Closing Policies: If you close at 6:00 PM, perhaps establish a buffer where returns end at 5:30 PM. This would avoid last-minute stress for customers navigating unfamiliar traffic patterns or rental policies.2. Inventory Accuracy: The discrepancy between online stock and the actual situation at PHL Airport was misleading and caused unnecessary inconvenience. If a location isn’t operational, the website should clearly reflect that.3. Pricing Differences: The cost to rent at the airport versus a nearby location was drastically higher. While I understand there’s a convenience factor, the difference felt excessive. Transparency about these pricing discrepancies would go a long way in building trust. In the end, while I appreciated the staff staying a few extra minutes, I didn’t feel like Enterprise had my back in a tough situation. These experiences, compounded by unclear policies and pricing, make me hesitant to use Enterprise again. I hope these areas are reviewed and improved for future customers.
Jan 03, 2025 · Diocko JonesMatthew was super helpful. Renting at the Rittenhouse location was seamless. Car was clean and comfortable. There was no waiting for my vehicle infact the day before they called to confirm I was coming in and made sure my reservation was correct. 5 star service all the way! Will definitely be renting from here again .
Jun 15, 2025 · Laura S-RiveraTom is an ABSOLUTE superstar and more than deserves both a raise and a promotion *ASAP*! I’ve rented from this location twice in the past two weeks, and on both occasions, Tom has delivered truly exceptional customer service. He’s been incredibly attentive, patient, and helpful - most notably when he let me borrow his OWN phone charger because mine wasn’t working 🥹 I truly hope you’ll recognize and reward Tom for his outstanding professionalism!
Apr 17, 2025 · Genevieve GholizadehBuyer Beware!!I called and requested a 1 day rental , picked up the car at 5:30 pm on a Friday and as expected, would return the car within 24 hours . Neither the customer service rep nor the office representative advised me when I picked up the car that I needed to return the car by 1pm on Saturday as they close at 1 pm for the weekend. When I returned the car around 3:30 pm the next day , there is a valet that provides a ticket which would indicate what time I returned the car. Even though I did not use the car on Saturday and Sunday , they charged me for both days .I spoke to the office manager about this multiple times , very unprofessional, condescending and rude . Doesn’t comprehend the value of this customer experience. I will be working to let the area manager and the manager above them know about this and will dispute this with my credit card company. There are many other options for rental cars in the area, do your self a favor and use them .
