Situated in a prime urban spot, this branch aims to provide reliable transportation for various needs, from daily commutes to weekend getaways.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a globally recognized and trusted brand, known for its extensive network and diverse fleet. The downtown Milwaukee branch strives to uphold this reputation by offering a range of well-maintained vehicles and dedicated customer service. Whether you're a local needing a temporary car while yours is in the shop, a business professional in town for meetings, or a tourist eager to explore Milwaukee's attractions and the natural beauty of Wisconsin, this location aims to streamline your car rental experience.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is centrally located at 310 W Wisconsin Ave Ste 170A, Milwaukee, WI 53203, USA. This address places it directly in the bustling heart of downtown Milwaukee, offering exceptional accessibility for those already in the city center, whether for work, leisure, or residing in the urban core.
The location on West Wisconsin Avenue is a major advantage. West Wisconsin Avenue is a prominent street that runs through the commercial and entertainment districts of downtown Milwaukee. This means the branch is easily reachable by foot for those staying in nearby hotels, or by Milwaukee's public transportation options, including the streetcar (The Hop) and various bus routes. For those driving to pick up a rental, its proximity to major interstate entry points such as I-794 and I-43 allows for quick access to the broader Milwaukee metropolitan area and convenient routes to all corners of Wisconsin. Its central position makes it an ideal pick-up spot for urban explorers, business travelers, and locals who live or work downtown and need convenient access to a rental vehicle without traveling to an airport or suburban location. Enterprise also offers a "Pick-Up Service Available" feature, which means customers may be able to arrange for a pick-up from their home or office, adding a layer of convenience for locals.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car offers a comprehensive range of services designed to meet a wide array of transportation needs for individuals and businesses.
- Diverse Vehicle Fleet: Enterprise typically maintains an extensive selection of vehicle categories. This commonly includes fuel-efficient economy and compact cars for urban navigation and budget-conscious travel (e.g., Chevrolet Spark, Nissan Versa); comfortable mid-size and full-size sedans (e.g., Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry) for family trips or business travel; and spacious SUVs (e.g., Chevrolet Equinox, Nissan Rogue) and minivans (e.g., Chrysler Pacifica) for larger groups, families, or those needing more cargo capacity. They also offer trucks, cargo vans, and at some locations, premium and luxury vehicles. This variety ensures options for nearly any purpose.
- Flexible Rental Durations: Customers can choose rental periods that best fit their schedule, from daily and weekend rentals to weekly, monthly, or even longer-term solutions for extended needs, such as a temporary vehicle during long-term car repairs or for seasonal business demands.
- Pick-Up Service: A standout feature for a downtown location, Enterprise often offers a "Pick-Up Service" from your home or office. This means you can arrange for a representative to come and get you, bringing you to the rental branch to complete your paperwork and collect your vehicle, which is a significant convenience for local customers.
- Enterprise Plus Loyalty Program: This free loyalty program offers benefits such as expedited service, earning points for free rental days, and special member-only offers, enhancing the rental experience for frequent customers.
- Optional Add-ons and Protections: To enhance the rental experience, Enterprise provides various add-ons such as GPS navigation systems to help you explore Wisconsin's vast landscape, child safety seats for families, and different insurance and protection plans (e.g., Damage Waiver, Supplemental Liability Protection) for added peace of mind.
- One-Way Rentals: For those needing to pick up a car in downtown Milwaukee and drop it off at another Enterprise location within Wisconsin or another state, one-way rental options are typically available, though they may incur additional fees.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 310 W Wisconsin Ave Ste 170A boasts several key features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for car rental in downtown Milwaukee.
- Prime Downtown Location: Its central position is a major advantage for business travelers, tourists staying in downtown hotels, and urban residents. This eliminates the need to travel to airport or suburban locations, saving time and simplifying logistics.
- Convenient Pick-Up Service: The availability of a complimentary pick-up service directly from your home or office (within a certain radius) is an exceptional convenience, making the rental process significantly easier for locals.
- Reputable Brand: As part of the Enterprise Holdings family, customers can expect the reliability and consistency associated with a leading global car rental brand, including a diverse, well-maintained fleet.
- Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff: Based on customer feedback, the staff at this location are often described as "friendly and knowledgeable," contributing to a comfortable and welcoming experience. One reviewer specifically praised them for answering all questions thoroughly and making them feel comfortable.
However, it's also important for prospective renters to be aware of potential challenges based on customer feedback for this specific location. Some experiences have highlighted areas for improvement:
- Inconsistent Policy Enforcement / "Random Barriers": One detailed review described an arbitrary request for a utility bill for "verification" on a corporate account rental, despite it not being requested previously. This created unnecessary delay and frustration, making the customer feel "disrespected and treated suspiciously without warrant," and raising questions about fairness and consistency in policy application. The issue was only resolved after the manager's intervention, suggesting that the initial request might have been unwarranted.
- Vehicle Condition (Odor Issues): A customer reported receiving a rental that "smelled like cigarettes and ozone machine," causing "breathing problems." While the manager offered a "free upgrade" for a future rental, the immediate impact on the current trip was negative.
- Time Consumption / Operational Efficiency: The incident with the utility bill took "almost an hour to resolve," indicating potential inefficiencies in handling customer issues, especially when they are "made up." This can significantly disrupt travel plans.
- Customer Treatment Concerns: The reviewer felt that staff from company accounts were "not treated with dignity and respect," and that staff "kept stopping to serve other people just walking in" instead of resolving their ongoing issue. This suggests a lack of prioritization or professional handling of complex situations.
These detailed reviews suggest that while the downtown location offers great convenience and the staff can be friendly, prospective renters should be prepared for potential inconsistencies in policy application or vehicle condition. It is advisable to:
- Confirm Documentation Needs: If renting under a corporate account or with a debit card, proactively ask about all required documents (beyond driver's license and payment method) before arriving.
- Inspect Vehicle Thoroughly: Always check the vehicle's interior for cleanliness and odors, and the exterior for any existing damage, immediately upon pickup. Report any issues to staff before leaving the lot.
- Allocate Buffer Time: Build in extra time for pickup, especially if you have a tight schedule, to account for any unforeseen issues.

Apr 12, 2025 · Angela McLaughlinMy employer has an account with this company and the first two times I picked up a car using the company account, there were few issues. My employer sets up all of the details of my rental and I just go, show my ID and pick up/return the car.The third time, completely out of the blue, I was asked to show a utility bill. I was dumbfounded. I asked why a utility bill was needed and they said something along the lines of "verification." Verification for what? This rental is under the account of an established 50 year old Wisconsin company that set up the reservation and paid for it. They pressed on and I reminded them that this "verification" wasn't requested the previous two times I utilized a rental, additionally, it's asinine that they would think I'd just produce a bill on the spot without advanced notice.I recommended that they call my employer to let them know that they will need to cancel the reservation because of this ridiculous request and I won't be able to do my job because I am not providing a utility bill. I could also let my company know that I felt disrespected and treated suspiciously without warrant and perhaps the company should consider doing business with a different car rental agency. They kept stopping to serve other people just walking in. Eventually the manager came out and did a song and dance and suddenly the utility bill wasn't needed. If it wasn't really needed, why was I even asked? Makes me wonder if it was because I don't look like the typical downtown crowd?Got in the rental and it smelled like cigarettes and ozone machine. I had breathing problems all the way to Madison and back. I let the manager know that and he gave me his card and wrote on it that he'd give me a "free upgrade" at the next rental. Yeah, you can keep that.I don't recommend this location. Not professionally run, randomly puts up barriers, doesn't treat the staff from company accounts with dignity and respect. Took almost an hour to resolve an issue THEY made up. Luckily the event I was attending was the next day, otherwise it would have been a real disruption.

Jun 23, 2025 · Bridget DavisDavid and Tyler are great. The ladies behind the counter are equally as awesome in their customer service skills and professionalism and are always extremely friendly and helpful and put forth a genuine effort to make your rental experience a great one. The entire staff even down to the porters who are fast and efficient to ensure that vehicles are prepared and available for customers' rental needs. The entire staff at the Milwaukee downtown location located on Wisconsin Avenue has lived up to my standards of quality and customer service that represents each location that I have visited in the Milwaukee area.
Feb 11, 2025 · A KWas impressed with this particular location. Quick, efficient, and very nice staff! They even drove us to the nearby Amtrak station. I highly recommend Enterprise and this location, which is across the street from Baird Convention Hall.
