★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have been a Hertz member for a few years, and my latest experience with renting a car at the South Blvd location in Charlotte was the worst experience I have ever had with Hertz. When we arrived to the counter to check out the rental car, their was only one Hertz representative working. He was nice, but he was stretched thin. He had to work the counter, check in/out cars, and wash the cars which were being returned. The car we were assigned had to be washed before we could get it. The representative was so busy that he only rinsed the car off and then he drove it out to us. After the water dried, you could still see that it was dirty. The interior of the car was dirty and there was long blonde strands of hair floating around.The cruise control was not working. A check engine light came on the dash about 2 hours into our trip. There was a squeaking sound coming from the front in when we went over bumps. We had to cut our trip short because we were not comfortable with the car so we returned it.

We lucked out and got the last available car that had just been returned at the end of the day (it was Mother's Day weekend no less which was why they were so booked?). It was an EV which was not our original reservation but we desperately needed a car. The rep at this location was great and really tried to help us so he didn't have to turn us away. He said the online reservation system thru Hertz website doesn't accurately track the location's actual inventory especially if cars are returned late or kept longer, which leads to a lot of issues. He was doing the best he could in a situation he couldn't control. Hertz needs to do better for this location & its workers & customers to avoid preventable issues. Side note, the interior of the store could use a major facelift - dingy, repair projects started but not finished, no clear manager presence.

Cars are not ready and available, unless you want an EV option and the excuse is that things are subject to change. There was no care or urgency to help me: My child and I were there 2 hours putting us behind seeing about a terminally ill relative. I ended up finding another rental agency at the airport without wait once there. The men who were also on their phone frequently, would tell everyone cars are not available on a Wednesday in the city and that people are scared to fly so rentals have increased on a wide scale which, is a lie to mask poor service.

Now im getting the run around with getting a refund for a car they won't let me rent. It has been a horrible and frustrating experience with the 1800 customer service people

More info knowledgeable please or ask them if this it their first time using it. I went to slow charge one last night and I stuck there over 12 hrs.
