Hertz Car Rental - Las Vegas - W Sahara Avenue Introduce
For residents across Nevada, particularly those navigating the expansive Las Vegas valley, having access to reliable transportation is a cornerstone of daily life. Whether your personal vehicle is temporarily out of commission, you're hosting out-of-town guests, or you simply need a specific type of car for a particular task, car rental services often come into play. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Hertz Car Rental - Las Vegas - W Sahara Avenue, located at 5905 W Sahara Ave Unit A, Las Vegas, NV 89146. Our objective is to equip local users in Nevada with factual information, including important considerations based on recent customer experiences, to help them make an informed decision when choosing a car rental provider.
Hertz is one of the world's most recognizable car rental brands, with a long history in the industry. They operate numerous locations globally, including multiple branches across the Las Vegas metropolitan area. While Hertz aims to provide a consistent standard of service and a wide range of vehicles, experiences can vary from location to location. It's crucial for local users to understand what to expect from specific branches, especially when relying on a rental for essential transportation.
The need for a rental car can arise from various circumstances, from scheduled maintenance on your own vehicle to unexpected breakdowns. However, the quality of the rental experience can significantly impact your day. Recent customer feedback for this particular Hertz location on W Sahara Avenue indicates some significant areas of concern that local users should be aware of. For example, one review states: "I've never trusted their cars! The rental selections fleet are much older, horrible gas mileage, 4x4, not reliable, and they have high mileage cars. Last month they gave me a 2021 crossover SUV with 110,000 mi, dirty inside and out with some mechanical noise." Another customer highlighted issues with booking and vehicle availability: "I reserved a higher class as rental when I arrive no options they give me a lower class with the same amount of weekly rate." These insights are crucial for any local considering this branch.
The Hertz Car Rental branch at 5905 W Sahara Ave Unit A, Las Vegas, NV 89146, is situated on West Sahara Avenue, a prominent east-west thoroughfare in Las Vegas. This location places it conveniently for residents in the central and western parts of the city, including areas like Spring Valley, Summerlin (eastern parts), and other established neighborhoods. Its position on a main road generally offers good accessibility by personal vehicle or ride-share services, as it avoids the immediate congestion of the Las Vegas Strip or the specialized access points of Harry Reid International Airport.
For local users, a neighborhood branch like this one often promises a more straightforward pick-up and drop-off experience compared to airport facilities, potentially saving time on shuttles and extensive paperwork. However, despite the convenient physical location, recent customer feedback regarding vehicle quality and booking fulfillment raises important questions about the overall accessibility of a reliable and satisfactory rental experience from this specific branch. While the address itself is easy to find, potential renters should weigh the geographical convenience against the reported operational issues.
Hertz typically offers a broad spectrum of car rental services and a diverse fleet globally. While the following is a general overview of Hertz's offerings, specific availability and quality at the 5905 W Sahara Ave Unit A location may vary, as suggested by customer reviews.
- Diverse Vehicle Classes: Generally, Hertz offers a range from economy and compact cars (e.g., Ford Focus, Mazda 3 4-door) for budget-conscious travel, to mid-size and full-size sedans for comfortable daily driving (e.g., Chevrolet Malibu).
- SUVs and Crossovers: A popular choice for more space and versatility, including compact, standard, and full-size SUVs (e.g., Nissan Rogue, Tesla Model Y). However, as per customer feedback, vehicle age and condition in this category might be a concern.
- Minivans and Passenger Vans: Options for larger groups or families, providing ample seating and luggage capacity (e.g., Chrysler Pacifica, Ford Transit).
- Specialty and Luxury Cars: Hertz also offers higher-end vehicles, convertibles, and electric vehicles (EVs) for those seeking a premium or specific driving experience.
- Long-Term and One-Way Rentals: For extended trips or differing pick-up/drop-off locations, Hertz typically provides flexible long-term rental options and the ability to rent one-way.
- Optional Add-ons: Common add-ons include GPS navigation systems, child safety seats (infant, toddler, booster), and various protection plans such as Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), and Personal Effects Coverage (PEC). Customers should thoroughly review these options and their personal insurance coverage.
- Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Program: A loyalty program that offers benefits like expedited service, earning points for free rentals, and exclusive discounts for frequent renters.
While Hertz as a brand promotes various features and benefits, it's essential to review them in the context of recent customer experiences at this specific W Sahara Avenue location.
- Brand Recognition: Hertz is a globally recognized name, often associated with wide availability and a generally diverse fleet.
- Online Booking and Management: Customers can typically manage reservations, view receipts, and extend rentals through the Hertz website and mobile app, offering digital convenience.
- Variety of Rental Types: Beyond standard rentals, Hertz offers options for Uber and delivery rentals, as well as box trucks and cargo vans, catering to different business and personal needs.
- Potential for Discounts: Hertz frequently offers promotions, including discounts for travelers over 50, AAA members, and benefits for loyalty program members, which could lead to savings.
However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised by customer reviews for this location:
- Vehicle Quality and Maintenance: Multiple reviews indicate issues with the condition of vehicles, citing "older," "high mileage," "dirty," and "not reliable" cars with "mechanical noise." This suggests a potential gap between expected quality and actual fleet condition at this branch.
- Reservation Fulfillment Issues: A customer reported reserving a "higher class" vehicle only to be given a "lower class with the same amount of weekly rate" upon arrival, highlighting potential discrepancies between bookings and available inventory.
- Billing Disputes and Customer Service Challenges: A particularly concerning review details an erroneous charge for gas after returning the vehicle full, followed by a lack of responsiveness from customer service through email and a lack of direct phone support for resolution. This indicates potential difficulties in resolving post-rental issues.

Given the issues highlighted in recent customer reviews, it is strongly advised to call this branch directly to confirm vehicle availability, condition, and any specific reservation details before your pick-up. If possible, documenting the vehicle's condition with photos or videos at both pick-up and drop-off is a prudent step to mitigate potential disputes regarding cleanliness or fuel charges. It's also recommended to ask about their specific policies regarding vehicle class guarantees and how post-rental billing issues are resolved.
For locals in Nevada, choosing a car rental service involves weighing convenience, cost, and reliability. While the Hertz Car Rental branch at 5905 W Sahara Ave Unit A offers a geographically convenient location within Las Vegas, the recent customer feedback presents significant considerations. Issues pertaining to the age and condition of vehicles, unfulfilled reservations, and challenges with post-rental billing disputes and customer service response times are serious concerns that prospective renters should be fully aware of.
Despite Hertz's global brand presence, the specific experiences at this local branch suggest that a "make a u-turn and don't rent from this company or from this location" sentiment from one reviewer warrants careful consideration. For Nevadans seeking a reliable, stress-free, and transparent car rental experience, it is highly recommended to thoroughly research and potentially consider alternative options, or to take extra precautions (such as detailed vehicle inspections and confirmation of all charges in writing) if choosing to rent from this particular location, to avoid potential frustrations related to vehicle quality and customer service.

May 26, 2025 · Nidal AkkeLahAnother poor experience with a Las Vegas location. Before returning my vehicle, I stopped at Sam’s club to fill up the tank. I returned it completely full. A woman goes and looks inside the car, comes back in, and says that I am good to go. She stated that she would email me my receipt. Didn’t say anything about any problems. After I left and looked at the receipt, I noted that they charged my credit card an extra $121 for gas! After looking online, I find that you can no longer call to have it fixed. I emailed the address that was listed on my gas receipt and of course, no response. It has been over a month and nothing from Hertz. More and more, the experiences are getting worse. I have placed a complaint with Capital One, because I think they should know who they are partnering with, and maybe considered a better company that will take care of their customers better. This is pretty shameful.
May 29, 2025 · Kelly MillerWorst experience ever. We payed for a pickup truck a week ahead and the day before we go to the location to make sure our car will be ready the next day we checked with the supervisor Jessica and she confirmed the car was ready for the next day. At 8:10am the next day we arrived to pick up our car and supervisor Jessica told us we are seven minutes late and they had already given the car to another person already and they do not have another pickup truck available for us and they doubled booked us with another person. It was a game with whoever arrived earlier could take the car. She told me we could go pickup another pick up car from the airport location without checking if there even is a car in that location. We called the airport location and they confirmed they didn’t have a pickup truck for us. We go back to Jessica explained that the airport location doesn’t have a car for us and without looking at me she rudely told me that’s not her problem she didn’t give any advice what we should do and was saying she couldn’t do anything because she wasn’t the boss of the company. She told me someone has to drop off a pickup truck at 11 and we could wait 3 hours but she’s not sure we could get the car because she wasn’t sure if the person who had rented it would extend it for another day. I advised her to call the customer who’s drop off time was 11 to confirm if he’d come at 11 or not. She told us she couldn’t not do that because she couldn’t push the customer. But she could ruin our trip by not giving us the car which was booked in advance a week before and already payed for. Those kind of people who don’t know how to deal with customers and are rude to them should be fired because of how we were treated while our whole family was waiting outside and she completely ruined our trip without a care. Jesica has to be fired immediately . She’s playing with company reputationI get my refund but $100 less . Please explain why you keep my $100 if the problem was from your side
Jun 23, 2025 · Anush SargsyanTerrible. At first they gave us a car without giving us a choice, and put us in front of the fact that this car will be yours. Although we didn't want it, we refused and left because the employee was very rude and didn't speak to us because we don't speak English very well. On the second day there was something with the documents and we were not given a car, although the documents were the same as yesterday. It's the third day we arrived and it's closed and there's no information. And now it's 1pm even though their working hours are until 5pm. Irresponsible. And people pay them money.
Dec 12, 2024 · Artur TvardovskyiStop paying people to work your CHAT box! It’s a waste of the customers time and works their patience while the worker receives a paycheck for doing nothing but reading what customers already have/know!! Need a live person? You gotta come in and stand around for hours before you are helped. Whoever set up the way the office is ran needs to be reevaluated and demoted!!! I’m just saying, everyone time is valuable. Very inconsiderate. Now I gotta get down there and find out why they took an extra $200 when the car was already returned! Lastly, my opinion, I don’t know why businesses so quick to take your money but slow to return it and sometimes don’t. Maybe that’s how they become “BILLION DOLLAR COMPANIES”Shot out to Ashley. You explained everything. You may want to apply for the County somewhere. Hertz ain’t it!!!
